I love how this is basically a song within a song... Chair is my single most favorite band, I love them and await their arrival back form "hibernation." I need more Chair concerts, they rarely tour US.
So amazing! I can't say enough about them. For 16 years now they have been my number 1 favorite band and will be until the end. I love, love, LOVE silverchair.
A lot of people are trying to do something 'new' with music these days, but rarely does any song or album sound much different than anything else. What these guys did is rare - as someone who doesn't listen much to words in songs, but rather the sound - this stuff is an adventure to listen to. Cannot wait to hear more. Absolutely fantastic.
what a transition! as much as i love their old stuff, silverchair's new stuff is nothing but genius...i reckon the band's musical journey makes a lot of sense once you listen to it all, it's absolute pure genius and i can't wait to hear more!!! :) :D
you know whats great about artist like him... they can perform live and still sound soo damn good.. most people today sound like shit live and only sound good in stereo.... word.
6:20 and on is probably close to the best 2 minutes silverchair have given us. they were all giving it so much. you can feel the energy of this song all the way through live. it's amazing and absolutely beautiful.
such an epic song..it was the song that when i heard coneccted the diorama album and the young modern album..and i think they sound great ..they`ve evolved..and i find it more exciting and less monotone when that happens whit bands..because that makes them diferent not better or worse..such great musicians and led by an awesome musician and songwriter..keep it coming silverchair..
So true- they're brilliant. It's the great ones that evolve they way Silverchair has. Love those guys. Brilliant music, and how about them vocals by Johns.
i love this song...and i think its also a good song to bridge the gap between both albums, especially for those who have a harder time to get used to the "new sound". but this song is epic. i adore it
I would really like to see them playing in Brazil, last time they came here I was too young (2003), now I'm not a minor! I love the band, great songs, great albums, great musicians.
I saw them in 07 twice and they were aaaamazing! Anyone who questions his voice these days seriously needs to listen to this. I hope they come back to the OC soon, I miss them!!!!
you're right. miss those days. I mean, I like Young Modern, but the best record for me was Diorama. In fact I think that was the time where his voice was just perfect. he lost a little bit of it nowadays.
i think because diorama was such a " life is waay better than it seems" like uplifting and still a bit "heavy" and young modern its more of " im happy and i know so i really wanna show it" and i love that. diorama was pretty universal. the songs on YM mesh together well
Seriously! This man can sing! He annihilates this song! Anyone that disagrees needs suicide. His voice is so damn mature. Just listen to his phrasing especially in that vocal run he does, you know the one. Great video. I am buying this!

Oh dear. What a truly awful song. Was it a song? Sounds like someone can't think of anything else to do now they are famous but waffle on in a dire manner.
said it before and ill say it again the first two minutes of the song are perfect then he ruins it. i think the strange behaviour part should be a different song
No, no, no. Strange Behaviour is the whole point. The 'If this street's air...' bit is like the 'For all of the animals...' bit in Tuna in the Brine. It's the reason the song exists.
wemay force ourselvesto love anything. If we love somebody's soul. Andthat's right. But the pure raw miracle/mystery,a stunning touch to the cosmic energy, some revelation of fuckin divine Beauty that happened once will never happen.again.Melbourn 99..all that.. we all know it. we all.and fuck anorexy and allthat. there was another point. so another.
And hereis the point oftough human sanity/coolness/megatalent.Bravo.So litle.Point. [crying] yeaiknow how isound,i dontcare.bury me inminuses.cheerz.
Definitely my favourite track from Young Modern. It was the first track that I "got". I love the album now, but it wasn't til this track I went "ahhhh...i see what they're doing now."
And I get why you don't like the second part, perhaps it's too Brit pop for you and the change between the orchestra and pop beat is too abrupt. I enjoy it in its entirety.

Fair enough. ;)
Yet, there are three parts in this song.
aspectaleatoire 3 years ago
yeah, i like the last part alot, too, now that you mention it, cuz it's the first part again ;)
It's such an awesome slow build-up at the beginning - really awesome...

Agree!
And I get why you don't like the second part, perhaps it's too Brit pop for you and the change between the orchestra and pop beat is too abrupt. I enjoy it in its entirety.
aspectaleatoire 3 years ago
Yeah, I think you're right - the middle part, although OK, is a bit too brit poppy for my taste. it's not bad, though :)

Isn't it? I think the "Strange Behaviour" part is pure brit pop and it's twisted how it completely merges with the first and second parts.
