@MoviesInWebsites But they are faster than you could believe when /nothing/ is looking at them. At that point, the camera was still on them, so they could only move in the gaps between frames. That's not a lot of time to move.
@X2XImTheNewCancerX2X Yes but in Doctor Who , the camera does not exist so originally the angels should be fast. I love DW , i wish it would keep on continuing.
I had always figured that they'd eventually be shown moving, but I'm dissapointed at how they looked the same. The whole quantom lock thing made it sound as though there is a side to them that you can simply never see, like they have actual skin and blood whenever you're not looking. That added to the mystery which, of course, built up the scare factor.
@TheLordmep They could still be. They were moving like that because the quantum lock is a defense mechanism (like a turtle shell) and they weren't sure whether it was safe for them to drop their guard.
@idunno974 Well she had been tainted with the image of the weeping angel, and she had been nearing death, but she was able to pause the flickering image by closing her eyes. If she opens them, she'll be taken by the images again and die.
They weren't fully non-statue; they were cautiously moving mid-way between the two forms in case Amy looked at them. I think it's somehow painful for them to be 'forced' to become statues when looked at, so they do it themselves out of instinct.
i loved this it was perfect ....exactly how i imagined if you could see them when they are not locked ....they are beautiful creatures ....and my favorite
@Epicness48 I completely agree. What I really didn't like about the moving angels was that in Blink we were told that they turned to stone when you were looking at them ie. stone can't move. But here we SEE that they are still stone AND they are moving. Ruined the dramatic effect the angels had for me before
Okay, I don't know, I thought it was even scarier to see them move. Especially when one of them tilts her head. They still freak me right the frick out!
Am I the only one who absolutely LOVES the weeping angels? I mean, I just found it so cool that you actually saw them moving, and I find them to be incredibly graceful and beautiful despite their evil ways.
DarthRevan916 there is no way the death note could kill them and as command actions such as making them look at eachother must always resulut in death they may end up defunct as well.
In conclusion a weeping Angel cannot be applied to the death note mechanism there are to many irregularites but overlooking that No there is probably not a way the death note could kill a weeping angel.
DarthRevan916 This is all assuming that angels even have names, it is explained that they oparate alone or as a hive mind which makes the need for names irrelevant to them, though they are not born but cloned through sight, this does technically mean that they could all be one 'angel'
Even is they did have a name they cannot die of a heart attack, there seems to be no conceivable way they could operate in a human structured interface so it may conclude sort of telling them to smash theyselves
A logical way of killing a weeping Angel has yet to be posed they have simply been locked away or made to look at eachother, this technically does not count as death.
Also though yes with the eyes the user does get the ability to kill people it is not at any point indicated that it give the user the ability to see anyone but human timelines. There is no rule in the Deathnote that says it even gives you the ability to see non human names.
I think it's creepy either way (of course more so when you can't see them moving). The blank stare that they have just gives me the chills. Imagine waking up in the middle of the night to see the stone angel frozen, staring over your bed. Now also imagine waking up to the angel, with a completely blank stare slowly reaching towards your neck with absolutely no emotion. And then the fangs slowly protrude from its slowly opening mouth. Creepy either way.
they are still mostly quantum locked in this video. if you watch the part right before this the doctor says that they think she can see them, so their instincts take over. they are moving slow because they are just finding out that she cant see them and can move
@connollystyle Heh, sorry. It's an anime thing- I figured there had to be at least one other anime fan who watcheed Doctor Who, along with a well-known anime like Death Note. Sorry if I confused you.
Here's a question: could a Death Note kill a weeping angel if the user had the eyes? As in, would the eyes still see the angel's name- if they actually have names-even when they're quantum locked? Are the angels even alive when they're locked...? Anybody with a plausible argument gets a cyber cookie.
@connollystyle He's talking about Death Note. It's this anime which features this notebook, and if you write someone's name in it they die inexplicably soon after.
There's an anime called Death Note, which is a story of a grim reaper's book that causes the deaths of individuals whose names are written in the note book. For a mortal to use it to kill, they need the name and the face of the person. A mortal can also trade their eyes with a grim reaper, allowing them to find out the victim's name without having to talk to them. For the antagonist of Death Note, all he had to do was look at one of the angels and write their name to kill them.
@DarthRevan916 I thinkthe Death Nite only works on humans, it's in the rules i believe where it says the Human whose name is written in this note shall die.
@DarthRevan916 no You could not kill an angel with a deathnote, because if you look away from the angel then they will kill you. And if you wrote their name in (if they had a name) while looking at them they would be stone, and thus couldn't get killed by it.
@DarthRevan916 i suppose not because quote on quote"you can't kill a stone"(the doctor in blink) the stone would not be living so in that case you would'nt be able to see its true name and even if you did you'd still be fucked becuase well, your with an angel so unless you happen to have a certain time lord nearby, your dead. now out of curiosity, what flavor is the cookie? also thumbs up for angel vs. dalek!
@DarthRevan916 well u see according to the doctor the weeping angels the lifeforms stop EXISITING but the stone does exsist so techniqley the angels arent even in exsitence to kill(yeah i have no clue what i said i just kinda went with what i remember)
@DarthRevan916 Probably not... I think it's stated at some point that, when they are quantum locked, they just become plain old rock. They aren't 'living' just as much as real statues aren't living. Oh God, they're everywhere...
@DarthRevan916 if they are locked you will see them as an everyday item like table ore something. But if nothing is looking at them and you somehow know a name you still won't be able to kill one because thy all look the same.
I think i'm one of the few people who found the angels moving to be really epic and incredibly scary - you just know that they're checking the surroundings, and preparing to kill Amy!
@MrFinnBurge Weeping Angels have a perfect defense mechanism, they are unbelievably quick because a blink is enough time for them to kill you! To kill them you have to get them to look at each other which requires slyness, intelligence, and creativeness which Daleks definitely seem to lack :)
@DALEK86 I know. In a way, the fact that the audience sees them moving makes it more realistic because as you said, the camera isn't a living thing and we don't count because Doctor Who and reality are completely separate :)
I'm glad I finally got to see them move. Yeah, they moved slowly in this scene but I think it was because they didn't quite understand that she was blind, then they slowly realised it. You know what sounds creepy? I bet they feel like human flesh when they move, but their skin still looks like stone.
I think it's a problem with the whole series, things happening because they "feel right" even if they don't make any sense. It's something a 6 year old will enjoy, but it spoils it for adults. I hope they try for a little more consistency in next year's series, because the rest is perfect.
Showing them moving does ruin the fourth-wall breaking effect of the audience seeing them as stone angels, so I simply choose to believe that can move faster than the frame rate.
AWW COME ON. I think they never should've decided that the angels stayed in their stone form. I think it actually would've been better to not show them moving at all. It just ruins the mystery, you know, the 'what are they like' feeling. But it's not there anymore. After all, why need to darn defence mechanism if they're ALWAYS stone. If you want to kill a weeping angel, then, don't look at it, but put a thousand spikes all over you so if it backstabs you it's dead.
@JordanWynn77 The cold killings make them seem scarier because it highlights how evil they are. There were multiple Weeping Angels together in "Blink" and it's ok for them to look at another WA, as long as it doesn't look back because they will be locked together permanently. But yeah, Blink seems to be scarier than this, although this still looks frightening.
@MEareCAT Despite how evil they may be, they were still always described as the kindest of killers since their method of killing involved moving them back in time to let them live to death whilst they consumed the potential energy you would have had. Snapping necks isn't that scary in comparison to some deaths that have been thought up before hand.
They can look at each other, as long as they don't make eye contact. In these 2 episodes, there are multiple incidents of when they are...
@JordanWynn77 clearly looking at each other and yet they still moved regardless, which breaks a basic logic behind them- they cannot move whilst being observed, even by themselves.

If they never move when being observed by the audience, it adds involvement from the audience and makes them that extra bit scarier as even we cannot see them move and thus sympathise with the victims.
@Xenosoo No, actually this makes them much more terrifying. Watch the clip again and PAY ATTENTION. It also pays to watch clips from earlier episodes, which might make it more apparent.
...give up? SPOILER: When not observed, but you know they're moving, they make no sound. When we see them "move" on camera, they sound like two rocks rubbing together. Why? Because they are constantly re-solidifying after MOVING INBETWEEN THE FRAMES.
They're stone intentionally. They can turn it on even if they're not being looked at, because it protects them. They're just moving and switching it off/on quickly (like someone said, stop motion) so that they're protected but still moving.
What you're forgetting is that in the episode Blink, David Tennant explains that the 'turning to stone' is a defense mechanism, but more importantly, 'They can't help it'
what i don't get is that it says that thay are quantum locked thus meaning that if you look at them they turn to stone, but if you dont look at them they turn into what ever creature they were before they were quantum locked. but it still shows them moving when they are stone

"The Lonely Assassins" not so lonely are they when there's a whole army of them!
"Kindest of killers" pretty much standard killing by snapping necks, no moving in time at all. Cold killing.
"Only move when unobserved" and I'm pretty sure they were all moving when they could see each other... SEVERAL times in those episodes!
"Cover their eyes to avoid seeing each other" only on the TV, nowhere else.
