  • FORT KNOX IS FOR TOURISTS!

  • thanks for sharing !!

  • Actually the original was known as "Johnny I Hardly knew Ye" and was as a Irish anti-war song. From the early 19th century. Ironic, wouldn't you say?

  • @lunda2222

You should check your facts. Know one actually knows which came first, "Johnny Comes Marching" or "Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye". And THIS version is an anti-war song as well. The entire purpose of the song is to hope that our boys come home. As a matter-of-fact, BOTH the Union and the Confederacy sang the song praying that they'd see their families again.

  • Ah the perfect way to end an adrenaline filled rollercoaster of action and thrills. The last 'real' Die Hard film and one of the best films of the 90s!!!

  • @LevelR4ever It's alright, I've just made that comment years ago and I keep thinking it is weird to get replies to.

  • @LevelR4ever I DID SEE THE MOVIE BEFORE I SAID THAT!? It was just one little identity that has slipped my mind WHEN this song played during the movie...If you look at my other comments, I pretty much apologized for my error, I'm not the incompetent one.

  • Thee ants com marching! :)

  • I'm watching Dr. Strangelove and heard the same tune coming by!

    Dr. Strangelove : Great movie.

  • @KillerX3189

Yes, thanks. But what exactly variation

  • @pero101101 I don't know. I think a composed remix.

  • WHAT IS THE NAME OF THIS VERSION OF SONG AND AUTHOR? Thanks

  • Die Hard may not be the best - I consider the second one to be the crowning achievement - but it's certainly the funniest :).

  • I love this song, I just downloaded it

  • one of the best version ot this song

  • I'll add this to my favourites=)

  • Its nearly impossible to find that version of the movie. No one knows why its not on the OST but i think its a special slowdown mixture of the sound directors. In my oppinion the version of die hard is the best one of that classical song.....

  • I want the REAL song that was used in Die Hard 3, the one that begins very softly when they're waiting in the bank. This Johnny version doesn't have that part.

  • Is this the one you are talking about?

    watch?v=t1AcsJRxnhQ

  • Uh... that's not from the movie. It's a stand alone version of the song.

  • Comment removed

"Boy, you guys showed up fast."

"Well, it's Wall Street, sir. Lot of money here. Lot of opinion makers. The mayor, you don't want to piss off, right?"

    LOL :)

  • yipee -ka- yay

  • 0:34 is the nicest part :D

  • THX, dude.

  • His armband proved he was a red, TORRES TORRES!

You'll never walk alone it said,

    TORRES TORRES!

We bought the lad from sunny Spain,

he gets the bal he scores again.

    FERNANDO TORRES LIVERPOOLS NUMBER 9!

This is what we sing on this tune!

  • I love the movie, I love the song and I love John Williams, but the original title is NOT 'Johnny Comes Marching Home', it is an Irish song called 'Johnny I hardly knew ya'. Please, yankees, don't mess with others History and make yours.

  • Absolutely true.

We meant nothing by it, though. =)

  • i have seen all die hard movies except from 2

  • I've seen them all except the second half of the first

  • He dies

  • well duh. I didn't know that when they said it in the 3rd movie

  • I ment Bruce Willis actually as a joke, but ah well. Sorry to waste your time.

  • lol sorry I didn't realise until the moment I posted the last comment that was funny tho lol

  • so u havent seen all die hard movies youv seen 1 3 and 4 !

  • There isn't ANYONE named Bob Thompson, if you mean Die Hard with a Vengeance. It's Mr. Simon Peter Gruber.

  • the actor is named bob yhompson i think

  • Actually, the actor's name is Jeremy Irons.

  • You're completely mistaken...

The reason I mention his name in the video above is for a simple reason - Simon Gruber IS, when this song comes on, Bob Thompson, part of the City Engineer's office. Watch the part where there is an underground explosion, and all the dump trucks come... That's the first encounter of the song, and accompanying the song is Bob Thompson, and a load of other thugs, in suits.

  • I'd suppose, if it's an assumed identity.

  • Bob Thompson city engineer's office. We would like to get an idea of the damage.

  • @Gaffa07 I think it would be better to wrote "when we are introduced to Mr. Simon Gruber. Because he used a lot of other names in the movie, like Bob Thompson, Mr Van Der Flug and don't remember what he called himself in the radioshow.

  • @topi85 he didnt say his name when he called the radioshow he just said ''hello i love ur show listen to it all the time'' and then he started saying how his brother is apparently a cop and he knows that all those cop cars all looking for a schoolbomb

  • @Gaffa07 You're both wrong. It's severus snape.

  • @aoinatafanboy84 They were undercover. Remember, they were terrorists? They didn't use their real names with the real authority figures; ie, cops, FBI etc., They were all planted in the City of New York to pursue their plan. Simon, Targo, even the guys in the Federal Reserve Bank. They were all planted.

  • @HolyRoller478 I know now, back then was when I first saw Die Hard. That time it can give you a whole lot more perspective.

  • @aoinatafanboy84 It's actually pretty clever they way they tried to pull it off. But of course John McClane caught on to their plan when they almost got hit by a dump truck. Remember, "14 great big dump trucks"? And there's no schools in Wall Street. But what DOES Wall Street have...? A SH*TLOAD of GOLD!!! :) LOL

  • @HolyRoller478 no kidding, since National Treasure also reinforces that point. "Heere at the Wall"

  • @aoinatafanboy84 yes there is, it's gruber pretending to be a new yorker. He says Holy torledo somebody had fun. Remember that?

  • @rattlesnakepictures6 Yeah, I remember. My mind just instinctively thought of Simon as his assumed Identity and was a bit dismissive by Bob Thompson when the song actually was playing. Now all the pieces have fallen into place and would recant the details that seem to contradict.

  • i thought the same as shwhjw!

  • He wears the stripes of red and white

    Fuller! Fuller!

He takes defenders in his stride

    Fuller! Fuller!

He came to stoke he wanted more

He gets the ball he's bound to score

    Ricardo Fuller City's number 10

  • Is it just me, or does this sound like the:

"the animals came in two by two,

    hoorah, hoorah,

the animals came in two by two,

    hoorah, hoorah,

The animals went in two by two,

    The elephant and the kangaroo

And they all went into the ark, for to get out of the rain..."

Song? after watching this film a few hundred times i thought it was amusing they had a kid's tune as the music, and still made it sound awesome.

one of my fave films of all time :D

  • I didn't notice that before.

I think the kids (or some school teacher) turned the tune into a kids song and made up words to it.

  • Comment removed

  • The tune is Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye

The "kids song" is just an adaption

  • GREAT TUNE

  • As if this is the U.S marching song i throught it was russian.

  • its american it came from the dutch who moved to new york

  • Die Hard 3... This is a great movie!

  • hie lobe the hirish {in irish accsent}

  • Hahaha this is sad for the US if people know this as the theme from Die Hard 3...

  • I know it as that, cause i have bad memory. Lol.

  • yippie kay yay motherfucker also song

  • stars and stripes

  • all I gotta say is yippie ki a mother.....

  • Die HArd Series... Definetly a DVD Bos I need to buy soon

  • i think there is one reason why irish version wasnt first. Mostly because american version is glorification which may motivate lots of people. While the second could have been created after the original when johnny comes marching home simply to scare away people which listened to original

  • drop kick murphys has a different version called jhonny i hardly knew ya...a little more rocked up version.....jusy so you know :)

  • Its not a Drop Kick Murphys song its an old Irish anti-war and anti-recruiting song , Drop Kick Murphy only did a cover of it. I don't believe people when they say that "When Johnny Came March Home" is not a derivative of "Johnny I hardly Knew Ya"

  • Because most people dont want to acknowledge that a lot of soldiers in the American Civil War were in fact Irish.

  • They were also German. In fact the majority of the European Americans (AKA White Americans) in the USA are over 50% German or Irish.

Over 25% of African Americans whose lineage traces back for a few generations also have a decent amount of Deutsch and Irish in them.

Americans. Pride of the Germans, Gallantry of the British, Luck of the Irish, Resilience of the Polish... what can I say. We do love to embrace the qualities of our immigrents.

  • Nope, you failed to understand what I meant...At one point in the American Civil War several of the main brigades in the Union Army were entirely if not mostly Irish Immigrants.. Not Irish American but actual Irish Immigrants straight off the boats. The Irish used Johnny I hardly knew ya as a protest song to the conscription of Irish immigrants into the war.

  • Thanks for that!!!! Brilliant

  • This is NOT the entire track. I have the whole thing from start to end. This song instrumental was also mixed with the score...

  • then...do you mind telling me where can i find the entire track??

  • M8 where can we find tjis song or just say the real name . . .???

  • When Johnny Comes Marching Home.

  • when jermaine beckford scores a goal today today

the crowd at elland road will start to chant his name his name

It Might be 1, It Might be 2, It Might be 3 Or It Might Be 4

But We All Know Beckfords Definetly Gunna Score

  • His armband proved he was a red Torres Torres

You'll never walk alone it said Torres Torres

We bought the lad from sunny spain

he gets the ball he scores again

    Fernando Torres Liverpools number 9

  • it's also in dr. strangelove. classic military song

  • Thanx alot! Ive been looking for this damn song since i first watched Die Hard!

  • Nice, If people want it, they can just use YouTube Downloader if they don't trust the site you specified.

  • Thanks a lot for this song, I have been looking for it since a long time.

  • Not to be rude, the theme for this song was around before the civil war. The tune is originally anti-war tune from Ireland. Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye (you),

  • Thank you for this!!!!!

  • Great scene in Stalag 17 as well! When Johnny comes marching home again, Hurrah! HUrrah

Oh the boys will cheer, and the men will shout, and the ladies they will all turn out.. and we'll all be gay whe, Johnny comes marching home!

  • wow this is the only song got stuck on my head die hard related.

really cool giving it that fascist/imperial feel

  • The only song die hard related?

    what about let it snow?!

  • oh hahaha yeah that too but this one somehow reminds me more of it.

LOl yikayay mother f*cker~ love that actor that played hans gruber never thought he'll be big enough to play severus snape

  • what the actor of hans gruber in die hard3 is "severus snape"??

  • Hans Gruber didn't star in this movie, he was only outtaked from the second movie, were he played the evil guy Hans Gruber. And the actor's name is Alan Rickman, and is awsome. And yes he is cast as Severus Snape in Harry potter movies to.

  • no he's not on 3 he's on the 1st movie, watch it you\ll easily recognize his distinctive voice

  • Been lookin for this, thanks.

  • I always thought it was "When Johnny Comes Marching Home".

  • it is

  • I like this theme song so much and dying to look for it. Thank you so much Gaffa07!
