Not really. The Shushan leader was actually only trying to convince Zi Xuan to let Changqing go. He's not forcing her, only trying to reason with her: basically, he's saying if Zi Xuan doesn't mind seeing Changqing dies and reincarnated again and again because of love, they could be together. But otherwise, if she wants him to attain immortality, she has to be willing to let go of love and Changqing...which she did.
