the lake (to me) refers to the person's mind,

man i actually shat my pants seriously a few times. like when 2 taken ambushed me and they wer each behind a bush either side of the path, before it had been all quiet and suddenly they shout and the music screeches on. i leapt up 10ft.

also when that taken bursts out of the toilet, and when barbara jagger shouts at u wen ur dreaming about ur lost week. that was scary.

but yer the sheer walking around with a torch and little else was making me spin around in circles so no taken wud ambush me

But a bit of horror would not go unmissed. Fine, then, make it more thrilling. Though alan wake was one of my Fav Games of the year after the first few hours it came prodictable and, slightly, boring. Horror, variety of enemies (maybe some human (??)) and more varied levels would of upped the game play. Though Alan Wake was thrilling and exciting, you need to realise that this is a game, not a film, and it is not ok to forget about game play just so you can focus on the story more.

PS If remedy kept the sand box elements, it would of been alot better too. Imagine your doing a mission in day light, and in the middle of the forest, and as you go to leave your car breaks down. With little less than an hour you must return to brightfalls for rest and suplies, as you have very little to survive the night. But, as the sun goes down, you here them moving in the shadows, and you know your too late. I'm not try to say Alan Wake was bad, I'm just saying it could b better

@Jamaicobs lol To me, i agree with it not being a horror game. I would be shaky and nervous at times. Why? Because I was being ambushed with no emergency boxes around and I would be low on supplies lol. Thats all that got me. I'm not really scared by games that are SUPPOSED to be that way in the first place anyway. But if I start running low on batteries and revolver ammo, thats when I shit myself. But yeah, the thought of runnin around corners empty handed...THATS the scare lol

That pretty much sums it up lol. The one thing about this game: you can sum up how it plays; you CAN'T sum up what the hell is going on in the end and can only think and discuss with others. But, you're right about thrillers. They pretty much get you wanting more, even though it keeps you on the edge of your seat for more batteries and ammo. But for me, on horror games...certain ones feed my craving lol. Silent Hill isn't so much horror i guess...but i play it with ease =) suspence you see, lol

The game was good. had some decent edge-of-the-seat points but for the most part it was somewhat tame. cant wait for the sequel though! awesome music selection though. Poets of the Fall is a great band. good game music like last goodbye (i think is the song name.) and war.

i heard this song and war by the same band when i played through alan wake.. it was epic.. tho i was a bit dissapointed with the sound track included in the collectors edition of the game as it only had 10 songs from the game :(

but other than that an awesome awesome game!!

@luluvioletz I haven't finished the game yet. But after each episode the song that plays becomes available through the main menu. Even Coconut is there.. all the songs on the radio etc. So you might want to check there to at least be able to hear them when you have the game in.
