You know i use to tell my mom that i was born in the wrong era, back in the 80's cuz i loved The Monkees and would have loved to have been around when you probably couldn't go to a store and not find SOMETHING with the Monkees on it. Magazines, cards, lunch boxes, puzzles, doll etc. Back in the 80's i bought cassettes, now i'm getting their music on Vinyl. Sundazed just put out their first 5 albums on vinyl with extra tracks, and Rhino just put out the Head soundtrack on clear vinyl.(500 only)
I am so in love w/you, you are the most beautiful, talented, amazing woman of today. so much talent in people has been lost to our current so called "music" era. kudos to you my luv ! you are awesome, I am single, never married,,,,, YET ! lol
hmmm, actually, we're supposed to be playing "Hey Hey we're the monkees" tonight in a band concert, it includes the theme, last train to clarksville, i'm a believer, and 2 other parts i forgot. honestly, after watching this, i feel kind of creeped out, because even though playing the song was really fun, after seeing people's crazy obsession with them, and not hearing the original song, i am looking at the song in a bad, new light. -.-
Hi Ann, i ronically enough.. i seen the mopnkees 3 times twice one summer night in back to backs hows..alsobecause ofthem i too luv & I man luv 60'smusic! I always thought I could be like soooo cool in 1967/68 inthat music scene ,peace luv & music..oh yeah! i misswed the concert you saw..but the 1989 was a derivative of the sames how i'm sure. Girl I think your fantastic!
O.K. what time can I pick you up for our first date ???????? , I just checked out The Monkees opening, and found you , I like you better , so send me a messsage -email and I promise I'll take You where ever you want , and that includes Monkee Music ..............lol........................RON.
OH YEAH!!! THE MONKEES! I love them and I'm only 13!! They are the GREATEST!!! They are playing at the Minnesota State Zoo this July 1 and 2 2011, so hopefully I can go... But The Monkees are the BEST!!
This chick is funny!!! And great taste too! I saw the Monkees in Fall of 1986 somewhere in Massachusetts, their 20th anniversary, my first concert (I was 15) great show! Saw them again at The Hampton Playhouse in New Hampshire in 1996, their 30th anniversary. They put on a great show, know how to get the audience excited! I was all ready to see The Beatles in concert, but then realized I wasn't born yet! :)
You're awesome. You just made my effing day. I want a Monkees sign. And you and anyone else can blame my mom and my aunt for loving the Monkees and the Beatles and all of that...
Ahhhhhh monkees!!! Im also Obsessed!!! to bad I'm only 14 so i don't have much of there stuff but my mom has the monkees music box! And I bought a bunch of their songs of ITunes! Monkees forever!
@retroalex1 You, my friend, have wooooonderful taste! ;D I really want the music box, too! Love that their music is still being loved by newer generations!!!
@annspade I know my friends think I'm a freak because of how much I love them! Soooo whos your favorite Monkee? My favorite Monkee is.... I dont know I love all of them! But if I had to pick one it would be Micky Dolenz. He is a really good singer! So really tell me who is your favorite Monkee!
Just found your vid during a Monkees search. Love it. Started listening to them in '86, saw them live in '96. I have many of the same things, including the mug (but certainly not the sign, LOL). Do you have videos/pics of your other Monkees items? Have you seen my "Daydream Believer" literal video parody? There are no other huge Monkees fans in my area, so I need someone to nerd out with sometime. :-D
You are drawn to the Monkees and the other 60's music because it is great stuff! I too have always been a Monkees fan; finally saw them in concert in 2002 minus Mike unfortunately, but it was still totally cool...I could hardly believe I was actually seeing my childhood music heroes in person!!! Their music is timeless, it sounds as good today as it did then. I love all their songs; Daydream Believer, Star Collector, The Door into Summer and I'm a Believer are a few of my favorites!
Love Words, the songs from their first album (like Saturday's Child and Take a Giant Step), and several others. Star Collector and The Door into Summer are also FAB! :D Thanks for watching and taking time to comment!
That logo is beautiful! First concert I ever saw. I was ten, the Monkees at the Miami Beach Convention Center. I met Mike around '69 and he punk'd me but that was okay. He had such an influence on me as a kid. He's the reason I play guitar today.
I was with you until you disses HEAD......now I say YOU SUCK!!!! HEAD RULES! I first saw it at 2:00 am while delirious with the flu, it was and is AWESOME!!!!! YOU ARE NOT!!!! BYE, POSER!
I have seen The Monkees live 45 times. Met Davy several times. He's the nicest person you could ever meet. Love the wooden Monkees logo! I am from Liverpool, The Beatles home town.
that was funny and we,re the Monkees and The Beatles fans too. My dad watched their original shows when they came out, but he likes hilary duff and lindsay lohan too. he say you should go to Rutles it will make you laugh.
Ha, ha, ha, ha! You're funny! I love The Monkees and I drew a picture of Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork. I made a very realistic drawing of Micky, because he is my favourite. I made their logo on paper with all their albums listed at the top and all their names on the side. Then I stapled all my drawings togather with their logo page as a cover. I also listed all their songs on four different pieces of paper. Thanks for the video!
jimi hendrix opened 4 them also. i have both seasons on dvd and the monkeemobile recently sold at barrett-jackson for $360,000. i sing and play guitar and 6-string banjo and would often cover monkee tunes at an open mic i gp to like i,m a believer, i wanna be free, hangin round 2 name a few. very best wishes to a fellow monkees fan, dan, the biggest ham on the planet.
Hey how come you don't have any Monkees stuff hanging on your walls ? I'm 46 and I've been an obsessed Monkees fan since I was 3. So as you can tell I was born in that era. I have a lot of Monkees memorabilia too. including the new metal lunch box and the original Thermos and Davy's book Daydream Believer,Monkees Tale and MonkeeMania. I've only been to a Monkees concert once, but I met Peter and Davy on 2 seperate occasions and got their autographs. Sorry if I sound like I'm bragging lol
hey, Head wasn't terrible! It was an art film, it alienated a lot of their teenage fans at the time...but it was well-recieved among filmmakers and lovers of surrealism.
Well that makes sense! :) I have an appreciation for it only because, well... it was The Monkees! :D I just know when others watch it the reaction is more O_o.
Sure !! Would love to hear you sing "No Time" or even "Listen to the Band".
Also, you may find this interesting. Years back a friend and I made a kind of "Monkees" version of the game of "Life". Had some fun spaces such as the "Stepping Stone" where if you landed on it you could take a short cut. The hand-made pieces were little hats in honour of Mike. Ever make your own "Monkees" game ? Just curious.
Wow..I never thought I'd see someone that is obsessed with The Monkees as my mom. I think she is the reason why I don't like them so much. Anyway..hehe. I think you're one of the coolest Monkee fans.
P.S. I love your Beatles sign! I wish I had one, cause I'm a huge Beatles fan, but I don't think I could make it.
wow, I saw the show with Gary puckett and Herman Hermitts, I'm such a fan when I was one year old my mom made a 8mm color movie of me dancing on a marble table to them in 1966! I ended up seeing then in 1987, 1997 and Davy and Mickey in 2005 in Santa Cruz, I used to think I was the biggest fan but I now can see I was wrong, as you are... ps. you're drop dead gorgeous!

Hi Ann! I've seen your name around YT but I'm just now getting to the party. I sub'ed finally!
The Monkees rock! Love this vid and your Downtown one too. There was lots of great music in the 60s. Check out GarageRockRadioDOTcom if you like the Monkees, Beatles, Hermits, etc.
the monkees were awesome! they had a sound that just never made me tired of them. they were hypnotizing at times. they have way too much songs that i can always listen to!
whatever, all i know is this chick is hot..........i never saw a girl who looked like this at ANY monkees concert ive ever been to...thats for sure...
annspade, joeyc09 was responding to rchan0 comment that The Beatles were "pretty good." Joeyc09 unfortunately doesn't know how to hit the reply button. And your sign was a work of art!
.so the monkees sucked and the beatles were pretty good huh?what an ignorant douche you sound like .....unreal ,i gotta remember that one.the beatles were pretty good..spoken by a true musical genius im sure........
you almost convinced me that the Monkees were actually a good band..... but i still think they sucked...... sorry :-( Beatles were pretty good though :-)
The Beatles were "pretty good." PRETTY GOOD!!! I don't know what to say to that. The Backstreet Boys were pretty good. The Beatles are legend. Maybe you were being sarcastic?
maybe i was being sarcastic or maybe not. enough people out there call The Beatles legends anyway, and i wouldn't necessarily disagree. anybody who has picked up a musical instrument to learn a tune will have at some point played SOMETHING written by Lennon/McCartney et al. the cultural and historical significance is massive. but one less person saying they are legends isn't going to suddenly diminish what they achieved
ahh! u rock girlie!! i subscribed and sent a friend request! :) i am in love with the guitar/sign u made! I LOVE THE 60's too! And the 70's! We need to time travel!!!
Awesome! I'm a huge beatles fan, but I loved the monkees show too :) I totally understand about your obsession. :) Really awesome about the wood monkees thing you made. I want your beatles sign!!! Totally obsessed with them ;) xoxo Love the 60's music too :D
Hahaha, great stuff. You can sing all the 60's stuff you want and I'll listen to it all. Your Gracie Slick was fantastic, I'm sure you can do other great tunes from the 60's and be awesome.
"Last Train to Clarksville" was based on a misheard lyric in the Beatles's "Paperback Writer" and then Rick Grech of Family turned both songs into "Second Generation Woman." Bet you didn't know that. :-D
Oh, and the town in the song is Clarksville, Arizona. I always thought it was Clarksville, Tennessee for some reason. :-)
Goddammit, you're cute (TOO cute), and WAAAAAY too young to be fan of the original Monkees in 1966.

.so the monkees sucked and the beatles were pretty good huh?what an ignorant douche you sound like .....unreal ,i gotta remember that one.the beatles were pretty good..spoken by a true musical genius im sure........
joeyc09 3 years ago
yes The Beatles were pretty good. if countries stopped fighting each other, THAT would be awesome.
rchan0 3 years ago
My comment removed. :)
annspade 3 years ago
you almost convinced me that the Monkees were actually a good band..... but i still think they sucked...... sorry :-( Beatles were pretty good though :-)
rchan0 3 years ago
The Beatles were "pretty good." PRETTY GOOD!!! I don't know what to say to that. The Backstreet Boys were pretty good. The Beatles are legend. Maybe you were being sarcastic?
AngelWest 3 years ago
maybe i was being sarcastic or maybe not. enough people out there call The Beatles legends anyway, and i wouldn't necessarily disagree. anybody who has picked up a musical instrument to learn a tune will have at some point played SOMETHING written by Lennon/McCartney et al. the cultural and historical significance is massive. but one less person saying they are legends isn't going to suddenly diminish what they achieved
rchan0 3 years ago
Btw, The Beatles are mine. Thanks.

My favorite parts:
The plywood Monkees guitar.
(I didn't notice: was it electric?)
I also liked your rendition of Hennery the VIII. You really captured the nuances. Very convincing. I actually believed you were Hennery the VIII. 8-)
Great variety show, as usual.
Five stars, as usual.
