The glass was quite thick (as much as 0.5cm) so I used a standard masonry drill bit, lots of downward pressure and low speed to begin with, then higher speed less pressure toward the end (to ensure It didn't drop through violently at the end!) Towards the end with the high speed you are mostly using the ground up glass dust/particles to grind the hole so it takes quite a while :)
