  • When will the British rise again?

When we can tune ourselves with the souls of our ancestors.

  • Like, like like...

  • That's my favorite scene of the film

  • @clararock3 mine too, incredible, really moving.

  • fear has no meaning merlin didn't say that all this is twisted

  • Nicol Williamson was perfectly cast in this. I love this piece of the film, oscar material.

  • Nigel terry is underated plus hes is a beauty

  • I love this part. Ah Merlin we need you know more than ever. I dream to some A nightmare to others.

  • Excalibur

  • La imagen de Arturo con el atardecer como fondo, con esa musica, es para mi una de las mejores de la historia del cine.

  • The old sages/druids:A dream to those loving, living, missing Magic, but a nightmare to the Church men,and even to scientists now.

  • Nicol Williamson was epic in this. Very underated movie.

  • shut the fuck up!!!!!!!!!!! its all about the music.

  • where are you merlin!..where are you arthur!!..more than ever did we need u now!..as labour and tory traitors turn britain into a eu backwater..on the fringes of europe again..our anglo saxon celtic heritage has been decided to be consigned to the history books..in its place a multi ethnic multi fragmented island..the illuminati knew that to bring in world govt..they would have to subdue and dilute the white northern europeans..the very races that brought in the modern world..we need merlin now!

  • bagpuss13 i would just like to say......oooh that was grand, much better than i could have done

  • what

  • You are not alone in those sentiments.

  • Too true, too true. You are a descendant of Arthur, not these multiculturalist Renaissance Faire liberals. The scene from this movie that resonates with me is when the knights and Arthur meet at the hill, victorious in every battle, proclaiming "We drov the invaders back into the sea!"

  • I guess you don't read much then?

  • I love this film. I had it on VHS and now DVD. I've watched it 100 times. It's nice to see there are others who share my enthusiasm.

  • One of the greatest movie moments ever. This scene touches anybody who's ever lost a parent or any type of mentor. "If only you were at my side to give me courage" and "More than I ever did I need you now." All of us have pretty muched lived this scene or one day will. This and Roy's death in Bladerunner are IMO two of the most powerful in all of film.

  • You just made me cry.

  • Yes, it's truth. I am agree with all.

And the grand power is that merlin said: "Your love (your faith; in the spanish version) put me back!" is plenty of emotion.

Roy's death in BLADE RUNNER makes you think one thing: "Replicants were more human than humans".

  • Love is a stronger force than any magical prison.

  • MrFunk,

Wow....yeah, Roy's death was equal awesome!!! I love that scene....

  • Very well said. Losing a parent, the most hurtfull any of us will suffer. In 500+- AD losing Arthur, a loss still remembered today.

  • Where are the Knights? WTF is Merlin? Excalibur? The Holy grail? Where are the real Men and women?

Nothing but fucking pussies and morons around these days!

Merlin, you bastard, where the hell are you?!

  • Merlin lives forever through our dreams and hope for a better future. He is the one who foresaw all of this and Arthur's victory over mordred is his victory over Morgana. magic has been brought back.

  • He and druids, warlocks or witches were the path-seekers through the lands of mysteries.A dream help to many,a nightmare to the men of the cross and Church still.

this old rivalry for the souls of men in the not "middle eastern" lands.

Science steals and sucks all the dreams of mind/spirit with their only way of search..."one truth"

  • Faith in what one believes a balance of the sprit and of science. Your dreams can give you strength, science can give you a weapon to do battle with.

  • @eleeking all aided by the magic of the imagination.

  • It's fair to say that Mordred and Morgana were not of the cross!

  • beautiful scene, you can see the lake below where the sword is cast back by percival

did you know that one of the ladies standing over arthur on his way to avalon is guenivere at the end

and that the round table was not made by arthur but uther pendragon

  • Why?

  • My favorite scene in my favorite movie of all times... and that's not easy, when compared with other greatness like "Blade Runner", "Thunderheart".....others could add...

But, this scene is so special...

"a dream to some....and a NIGHTMARE TO OTHERS"... Merlin Rocks!!!

  • who wrote the music please?

  • The music is by Trevor Jones and Richard Wagner. The soundtrack is one of the best.

  • the music which is super awesome german composer, Wagner, is the "prelude to Parfisal" (part of the Goetterdaemmerung, I think)....

Yes, it's awesome.. especially part 1 (don't like part 2 as much).

  • Good reply

  • The music in this scene is from the opera Parsifal by Richard Wagner.

  • This was 300 before 300 WAS 300 :D

  • I agree, good call

  • Huge LOL.... excellent!!!

  • Such a wonderful and warm scene. I need to construct a Stonehenge in the back garden and pray to Merlin from time to time myself. Wagner's "Parsifal" overture has never been set to such atmosphere in a film.

    "Where are you Merlin?"

  • " More than I ever did I need you now"

  • epic movie..

  • such a good movie. It's almost like theater.

  • A dream to some. A nightmare to others!

  • "Your love brought me back". This is a beautiful and grown up scene showing the anatomy of an indestructible friendship, brought to cinematic heights with the amazing sky, the shimmering Wagnerian music and emotive acting. Too much modern cinema, fantastical or otherwise, is so vulgar, disingenuous and shallow - like an MTV video. In spite of the overblown production, there is something very honest and Shakespearean about Boorman's Excalibur.

  • Too much of the MTV era has to do with fast quick editing with mutiple shots to enhace the action, a cheap way to add drama when their is none in the sceen. Boorman actually thinks about the shots a head of time, and sets up the framing to let the screenary, actors & story provide the drama. The screen when Lancelot escorts Guinevere Boorman waits for just the right part of the day, where the sun hits the right angle to provide the desired effect. So a 3 min screen took 3 hours, just to wait.

  • this IS the definitive cinema version of King Arthur. There is NO better to date. Thank you Boorman.

  • I love this film. This scene is beautiful.

They have not made a good King Arthur film since.

First Knight with Richard Gere and Connery was awful and the King Arthur film a few years ago was equally bad.

    I wish they redid Excalibur

  • the dreams of teh future,

  • why the hell do people get orgasms over this movie? plot is unclear, acting is lame, costume looks uncomfortable and uncomfortable to look at... like wtf is wrong with you people. bunch of blind idiots.

  • I guess ur a fan of "Knights Tale" or maybe ur just to young to understand something this deep and complex. And why use the word "Orgasms"? Oh wait, ur a kid.

  • what's so deep and complex about an embarrassing attempt at playing dress up and playing knights? stupid kid.

  • Stupid kid?? And just makes u think that I'm a kid?? Ive read more material on the legend of King Arthur than u Im sure and I can honestly say I dont watch MTV. Can u say that??

  • Oh wow you dont watch MTV at all huh? that must mean that you are incredibly smart! bravo! and wow! King arthur materials! amazing!!!!11111oneone!!!eleventy!!!!

  • Wow, sarcasm how original. Now that u dont have a job go play ur Nintendo and have a good day. And if u dont like Excalibur then why the hell did u watch the clip dork??

  • Wow sarcasm how original. i watched the clip for school dork. and wow, typical comeback with ur insults about me being a kid and playing nintendo. originality at its best.

  • U have it in ur profile about playing Nintendo, or don't u remember. And are u 22 or 40? U have both in ur profile. So u already watched it, now u have to draw attention to urself by trashing what others of us like. Oh wait ur a Twilight guy, how nice.

  • oh so now you go on my profile page and look for tidbit information that you can insult me with. HAH. grow up. and i put that bs information to repel perverts.

  • You come here to watch the clip and insult everyone that enjoys this movie, and u didnt even spell Nintendo correctly. Get a job.

  • I have never heard anything so immature in my life. I seen this movie when I was maybe 20 and always loved it, still watch it from time to time even today. Obviously you cant appreciate the idealistic and spiritually uplifting elements of the film. To each his own.

  • Thank you for your words and support

  • NP. Youth forgets to put old films into the 'context' of the times. Boorman was always a fav director. Take care

  • There's something about the tone and feel of it that's compelling, even though it's overblown and convoluted. It reminds me a bit of David Lynch's Dune: in many ways, it's an OTT mess, but it draws you in nonetheless with its energy, production values and commitment.

  • The armour was uncomfortable & bulky, infact this was a accurate portray of how it was. The sceen when Uther gets ambushed and the Knights fight & lumber around after each other has been appluded by historians as being accurate. The plot is understandable if u have read any of the books and the acting is fine...Helen Mirren, Nicole williamson and Liam Leeson r just a few poeple in the film & John Boorman did a fantastic job directing /shooting this epic

  • The best movie ever

  • This movie is pure magic! It's as simple as that!

  • A great film!

  • This scene brings tears to my eyes everytime I watch it ... just perfect

  • It's one of the last great Hollywood movies.

  • To the person who wrote the comment about how beautiful the landscape look. Sorry it was accidentally deleted. Please repost.

  • TY , one of my most intense movie moment emotions.. that slam on the stone gives me shivers .. I used to do the same in my life now and then.. where are you merlin.. I need you.. the world needs you..

  • Wagner's music is perfect

  • Yes, the music is outstanding.

  • where hae you been this many years? qualcuno un giorno me lo domanderà

  • Did King Arthur fight the emperor kid Lucius from Gladiator?

  • Not that I know of.

  • No, it was Sir Guy of Gisbourne from Robin of Sherwood. This is a bloody awesome scene.

  • Best fantasy movie ever. What a script!

  • A dream to some... a nightmare to others!

  • hi..but i dont get this scene..Merlin is not dead..is trapped and he hleps Arthur later..but his power is small. ciao

  • Well actually he is, he is magic, not really a living person. So when Morgana imprisoned him, she in affect did kill him. Arthur called him back from the tomb that she placed him in. Now a ghost...or a dream.

  • When the perfect comes, the partial will pass away.

  • Nothing original to add here, and maybe that's the whole point; this is among the best scenes of a beloved movie... :o)

  • Agreed

  • I've also used the symbolism of this scene to describe After Death Communications with a spouse or someone close.... in a vivid dream, unlike others.

  • Yes, It is a spiritual movie. I think it came out a little later than Somewhere in Time. My favorite character was Merlyn. Arthur and Lancelot and Gwen. Merlyn reminds me of Ted Braughtigan in Hearts in Atlantis. The Heart Matters.

  • But you know that Merlyn is actually Randall Flagg in the SK universes, although in the Arthurian legends he seems to be on the side of the righteous.

  • As written by S. King, not sure I'd go with that.

  • The reason it brings a tear to one's eyes is because it has a Spiritual Truth at its core. True Love is the bond. Life is eternal. My Love is waiting for my star to fall.

  • It's a very spiritual movie unlike movies today.

  • It is interesting to see the part of the last meet between Arthur and Geneve. The last words of Arthur in that dialogue became clear here.

  • ..."It's a dream I have."

  • :). Be well and happy. My kindest regards,

  • And to you my friend, thank you.

  • SOME PPLZ NIGHTMARE /quit

  • -A dream to some... a nightmare to others...

-Sueño para algunos... pesádilla para otros...

  • Thank you for posting. One of the most profound scenes in the movie.

  • Its my favorite scene, almost brings a tear to my eyes watching it...

  • same here, my all time favorite scene, especially the culmination:

"A dream to some... AND A NIGHTMARE TO OTHERS"

  • The wonderful thing is that I once new a man like this. Serious. Super clip... kindest regards,

  • "A Dream, to Some, A Nightmare to others !"

10He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. 11As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: 12So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him. 34Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures?

  • Merlin just isn't around , like back in the early days. Bit harder for Arthur to summon him up, which is, after all, the whole purpose of him being there, then, anyway . Excellent Merlin has truely taught him the love his father Uther had never known !
