i agree, hodge was dropped after this and they said because his technique will be flawed against the england bowling attack. so they replace him with damien martyn who did jack shit and then retired 2 tests later. what a waste of opportunity for hodgey!
@kamborocks No they dropped Hodge after two embarrassing tests against SA after the 203*, then recalled Martyn who scored an amazing 4th innings ton to win a test in South Africa, fully justifying his inclusion, as he shouldnt have been dropped in the first place. Martyn did not do 'jack shit' at all. Get your facts right.
The selectors fucked him over, like they have been doing to states like Victoria, WA, OLD, Tas and SA. The only reason he would have been dropped was because Hodge was Vic, Clarke was from NSW and everyone knows selectors pnly like NSW guys.
this is what must have happened. Clarke got dropped due to poor form after the 2005 ashes. Hodge came in, played at his best, and got dropped again, because some twit decided clarke should come in again. in the next series, clarke played well, and hodge got dropped. just like that!
fucking hate the Australian selectors ever since they never picked this guy. he's pure class i mean look at him here! he's not the greatest batsman but he's certainly better than half of the aussie line up at the moment, give him a chance.
WAFG! It is ridiculous that a player of this quality never got a decent Test career. Someone shoot Andrew Hilditch in the head and cricket out of this misery.
How this guy never got a regular gig in international cricket I will never ever know. Michael Clarke is good, but he's the guy that has been keeping Hodge out over the years and I think given the chance, Hodge would've been better than Clarke.
@Hirdy003 Bloody oath mate, bloody oath. Clarke is just crap, getting worse every year. Doesnt have a clue how to even rotate strike, Hodge just owns the pitch when he bats.
@robelinda2 here Clarke is Shit! Hodge is just dominating! I've even been on the MCG when he was coming out to open the batting in there first big bash match of this season! I won a comp with the Bushrangers and I was one of the kids that was playing on the ground before the match! When the match started he was batting Awesome he made a opening partnership with Aaron Finch (Who is Awesome to) of 98! SO MANY SIXS! GO HODGE!!!
@Hirdy003 Thats awesome mate. Hodge is just so dominating, Viv Richards like in the way he stands there and belts the ball in top the crowd. Amazing stuff. So arrogant! I love it.
I was at this game, something I'll never forget :)

Makes a double century and then doesn't play again. Terrible terrible terrible decision.
jumpnjza2 4 months ago 17
@jumpnjza2 He did play 2 tests after this one in the series, and did nothing at all, but yeah he should've not been dropped.
robelinda2 4 months ago 7
@robelinda2
If you leave out his 203* then his average is 30.3 which isn't that bad. But yeah, I think a lot of people agree with you on Michael Clarke too.

@jumpnjza2 he might be making a comeback for the new zealand series this november-december :D

@Frenzalbears In the end, lucky we didn't. The pitch held up super well, SA might've done what they did four years later to us at that stage!
