Its an...'ok' advert for it, but really its all wrong!
In the episodes it wont say anything about Rita travelling back in time or whatever to re-fight the power rangers, but i suppose the ad is just so kids who grew up with spin offs relaise that it was the original!
they havent actually interfeared with footage have they?? please tell me they havent!
i hafto admit the way they promoted this was really good it really made me want to watch it but unfortunately the new remastered series was absolutely shockingly bad
it wasn't that bad. it could've been way worse. it is the same thing pretty much as it was back in the 90's. the show is pretty old and i bet disney just wanted to freshen things up for the kids of today. at least they kept the morphing sequence and all the music the same. but i heard that they are rerunning mmpr to bring fans back so they can get better ratings so they can produce another season.
sweet haha give these young little whipper snappers a taste of the good old days haha Plus they are secretly being introduced to buckethead haha (the intro music)
welp i guess that means there wont be any more new power rangers what they should have done is it has been like 20 some thing years and the cast of the ogriginal have retuned ecept for the yellow ranger because she died in a car crash
ive been a fan my whole life. i saw the first episode when it 1st aired on TV. i watched this version and was impressed. its great to see the original (even though its a little different) series back on tv again. its the best series. the visuals are way better and it has clearly been enhanced digitally. the quality is...morphenominal.
just watched the first two remastered.its kinda of funny cause the whole visual thing there doing is like when you play street fighter 4 when you get that whole paint background.its sorta of like that.other than that its still is how i remember it when i was 4 or so.i cant wait for the green ranger green with evil(something like that) episodes.
this is a great way to show the kids who never heard of mighty morphin power rangers how awesome it was in the 90s.thats why i thought they did that
I just saw the intro on Dailymotion! WHAT THE FUCK HAVE DISNEY DONE!?! Apart from the new logo - which I actually quite like - Disney seems to have gone out of its way to make MMPR even cornier than it already is. They've added wacky visual effects (i.e. BOOM! POW! comic book text) and desaturated "freeze frame" shots and the like. Some may like the changes, others - like myself - wont, but I think its fair to say nobody expected anything this drastic. At least the music's still in one piece.
I was about to PM you a link to the new intro but then I noticed you found the video and put it into your favorites. What did you think of it? I also wish to apologize for not responding sooner, but I was asleep.
just watched the re-mastered MMPR episodes one and two. the intro is a little different but the music is the same. ron wasserman's theme is still there! and there is now comic book style visual effects added to the show. the original zyuranger footage is not the only thing that has be cleaned up. the american footage is cleaned up as well. overall as a veteran power ranger fan the added visuals are ok but the cleaned up footage makes up for disney's new effects. it's good so far.
It's kinda cool that they're airing Mighty Morphin Power Rangers again (for the umpteenth time since PRG) to go with the new toyline, but to those who say it's gonna be remastered and will look SO MUCH BETTER, let me say this:
I watched this promo on my Sharp 1080i LCD HDTV last Saturday. Now unless those are NOT the "remastered" clips, I'm sorry, but there's hardly any differences.
@AllieRX87 Second of all, if all they're gonna do is clean up the footage to make the show look as if it was just made, then this should've been used as a DVD release instead of air it on a network that most affiliates won't air.
ok kids this is what we grew up with, now its your turn to watch the awesomeness lol... i know im going back to the past and watch the best power ranger series ever made.... i wonder if they will remaster zeo, turbo and in space as well lol
i taught all of the the power ranger seasons where good like turbo, mmpr zeo, in space, but in my opinion they had their downfall after power rangers time force after that i lost track of power rangers
Aye-yi-yi. People don't seem to know what the word "rmastered" means. Remastered just means same thing as before but with better sound and picture quality. And who wants CGI megazords anyway?
Didn't the actor of the villain already pass away? Well, at least she'll be better remembered for her epic work when they put the first series back on TV. :'D
My feelings on this are mixed. On one hand I'm happy that the kids of today will be able to see the Power Rangers that my generation grew up with, but on the other hand, the original series has frankly aged VERY poorly. I watched a whole batch of downloaded episodes last year and - to be honest - for all the crap Disney have gotten, their work is more appreciable compared to this. Atleast in the Disney seasons, the Rangers werent all walking stereotypes and the episodes not as episodic.
Now, dont get me wrong, ladies and gents. I do have a soft spot for shows like this, always will, and I'd be lying if I said it isnt nice to see MMPR on the airwaves again. BUT IMHO, it just hasnt withstood the test of time. As far as adapting Shinkenger is concerned: Could it be done? Yes! RPM has proven that even the most obscure Sentai season can be turned into something fitting for the PR format. The problems lie in how the adaption is done.
Holy crap, ABC Kids, I have waited forever. Since I was busy with my family yesterday afternoon, I missed RPM and the new promos I was hoping to see. Thank you. It looks great thus far. This was the era of Power Rangers I grew up with, and the ones that will forever hold a special place in my childhood memory. Thanks for remastering these episodes.
It always amuses me when people who have no idea what "remastered" means automatically asssumes that it's going to look completly different.
This was never going to be a George Lucas or Star Trek-style restructuring of scenes. MMPR was "remastered" in the same way a lot of older series were, clearer sound and picture, but nothing new
And another thing, if this was "new" Mighty Morphin, the actors would all be 40 years old but in this promo, they still look the same age they were back in the 90s.
I guess, but it would be impossible not to acknowledge all the cultural details in that show, the Kanji on the helmets, the morphing sequences, and the origami megazords,The ink brush style morphers, the styles of the weapons like shinken red's Zanbato style sword.
My point is they can't make a version of that show without acknowledging the japanese cultural aspects, which is usually a challenge for disney, becasue they've tried to make all these shows seem like it's american and not japanese.
Vinny Vinny Vinny, that's what they say about every sentai series. Disney revitalized Power Rangers & took it to a whole new level we never even dreamed of. Ninja Storm, SPD, and Mystic Force were outstanding seasons! The best in Ranger History. Even Jungle Fury started off mediocre but ended w/ a hell of bang! RPM started off splendid until they introduced gold & silver & suddenly the dark tone of RPM was removed. Extraordinary Adaptation can always be done. Let the past be the past Vinny
Thats not how the majority of some fans feel. If you take a look at SPD and Ninja Storm, some fans might find those shows okay, but there could have been better things about em'.
Such as Omega Ranger not having a body or a morphing sequence, or changing the original gekiranger morphers to a pair of shades.
But say what you will though about Mystic Force, that show was Horrid, Shameful, crappy and Downright TERRIBLE.
BTW, I found the Twins anoying as well, but I gradually got over em'.
I think they were going to change it, but changed their minds. There was a poll on the Bandai website that asked which logo people preferred. Maybe the old one won, and they took that into consideration. Also keep in mind this is just a promo, they could change back to the new one for all we know, but we'll see in a week and find out for sure.
Awesome! So excited about the remastered MMPR, made especially for new generations, including those who group up with post-2003 PR. Thanks for uploading. May the Power protect us all! Hope you enjoyed your Christmas holiday and hope you have a happy 2010!
@heyarnoldsknee I haven't heard anything about it returning. The only official word I've heard was that they've "ceased production." And I also know that the ratings for RPM were beyond horrible. So unless the toy sales are enough to sustain reason to continue with new series, I don't see why they'd do it. Unless you have an official statement I haven't yet seen.
@mahouska29 Extremely low. We're talking 0.2 and 0.1 ratings. To compare, the shows that come on ABC Kids before Power Rangers get at least 0.8-1.0 ratings. @MrLogoman007 They can Americanize it just like they Americanized everything else. They didn't have any problems Americanizing Kakuranger or Hurricanger.
That's because the original Kakurangers became aliens and Hurricanger had all the overtly Japanese elements taken out. Shinkenger is all Japan all the time.
@specterkev They could, but I have my doubts. Seems to me that Disney is trying to get rid of PR and with this they're wringing out the last bit of money they can get before they kick it out. PR enjoyed ample air time on Jetix (on both ABC Family and Toon Disney) as well as ABC Kids. There were lots of marathons and it was on several times a day everyday. Now it's on once a week on one channel only in a bad time slot, and some markets choose not to air it at all some weeks. It doesn't look good.
@Zipperman2000 Does'nt look Good? NONSENSE this is probably the greatest decision Disney made ever since bringing back traditional animation in their movies.
@Vinny792 I'm talking about for the future of NEW Power Rangers series. Read the whole discussion. I agree that it's cool they're airing the original series again. All the added effects are not necessary, and why are the episodes getting shown out of order!
Why are the same episodes being played over and over again!
They should have just done a DVD release.

I know! The quality is awesome! I can't believe that they were able to remaster it so well. Maybe we might be able to get a DVD release of the MMPR, so RATE THIS SHOW FOR ALL IT'S WORTH!
