@killrathy 10x = 20 is from 3x plus 7x, +y-y cancels out and 5 + 15 (This is taking both equations and adding them, the 3x+y=5 and the 7x-y=15) 10x = 20 solving for x, is 10x/10 and 20/10. giving the x = 2
Why all the hate? It made perfect sense, and I have trouble with maths of all forms. I think people are forgetting one of the most basic rules of maths; Lowest Common Denominator!
@RocketDragons Even though this is easy, a good teacher should still explain, ESPECIALY if the teacher is purposely trying to make sense of something for his/her student/students.My algebra teacher never explains much so i find myself here.But, even though "*emphasis* I *emphasis*" find this easy she should be explaining this for those who don't,otherwise she really isn't fulfilling the purpose of this video which is to make albra EASIER.
Ok I don't know why people don't get this its very simple. But for those who just don't get it, she is trying to find a point on a graph where these two lines meet without using a calculator. You have to 'get rid' of the other numbers by doing the reverse of the numbers.
do they teach these people to talk like this make its really bloody simple please half the world would like to learn algebra arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh , i had a math teacher just like you as if im supposed to pick it up just because you get it, i fucking dont. wait for it get the head masters office
How I wish I would have paid attention in math class as a youngster. I was too busy watching DBZ and playing with friends outside to give a damn. Sometimes you just don't feel like doing 30-70 problems per day though, but it would have paid off I suppose. It was far too boring and stale for the 13-16 year old version of me though. I couldn't forsee/didn't care that advanced Math/Algebra is used in almost every high paying profession, It's just about the only subject worth knowing these days.
Well...This is really one of the basic skills of Algebra. Sometimes thinking with your brain is far more helpful than depending on a teacher, or criticizing.
I recommend this excellent Math channel: ( Mathmatchpoint ) to everyone who wants to become good at Math. He is going to teach you Math the EASY WAY, from the basic to the advanced topics. The great thing is that his videos are categorized within playlists. It is easy to know which video to watch next. This was the least I could do for him (let others know about his videos). Thanks to him, I got 97% on my Math test.
@TheEssGeee ;) right, gosh - my teacher sucks ,-no offence : lucky hes funny though ;D -im a year younger - lol well its finishing anyway - so im gonna be a freshman! hehehehee - like you. (:
@XxAlYx loll. thats good that hes funny at least. o.o my math teacher isnt..he doesnt even explain things good..and wow,thats cool so you're in 8th grade now?
@TheEssGeee yeah :D - lol i think its cause we always ....i mean always, get off topic = but yeah my teacher is funny and offensive - so always do his hw ;D - cause before you know it - he'll be inventing some story of how you watch hanna montana all night instead of doing his hw. - and EVERYONE , will know :D -ha :happened ONCE -, lol never again.
@AnimeDiva123 She is explaining it properly, but she is like a robot...if I didn't understand this already then I would be lost...this lady teaches like a text book...horrible.
If you don't understand her LEVEL of teaching, then you must not have truly mastered 8th grade (or previous) math concepts. So many 9th graders (at least in Georgia) did not pass the 8th grade CRCT, yet were sent ahead anyway to the more difficult 9th grade math, where it is assumed that they are ready to comprehend these explanations. These are simple & clear explanations, assuming you understand the more basic concepts involved in working out the problems. 1st you need 8th grade lessons.
Soo then whatever sign (- or+) you used to move the number, is the sign you will use on the other side of the equal sign..So it would be 5 - 30 ... I know it sounds complicated and took me a while .
Main rule : we always want to get the letters by themselves. So X or Y needs to stand alone. Always divide the number next to the variable,--> with the number on the other side of the equal sign. <--- So if I had 5 + x = 30 , I have the 5 near the X ..so X needs to be alone and so I need to get rid of that 5 or whatever number is next to it. To get rid of it, I simply minus 5. So it would be like a zero is there. If I had a -5, then I would just + 5.
they should elaborate their methods to a comprehending point of view for students like us i agree with the other 2 nimi1661 and longdock133 wonder schools in america need a school reform!
i see how the answer is done, but she could have said you do this because, and this is the rule for this and whatever.... i see what people mean by they can't understand, you need to know WHY you do each step such as cancelling, doing opposite of the symbols, etc... thumbs down!
i failed maths, simply because the teachers didnt explain to me the way to work out an equation, they just skipped me and taught everyoin else, then it was too too deep to even catch up to what everyone else was learning, everyone advanced while i was stuck at the very begginging because the teachers neglecgted me because i was a little slow...it sucks, now i dont know anything close to maths...im a dummy!!

So in the bottom equation instead of subtracting i have to add 14(7x2) in the bottom equation. because the equations are the opposite.
