  • how long is the frequency of the pendulum? I've counted about 2 seconds. does anyone have an exact mesurement?

  • It's almost like a heart...

  • The pendulum is real and it is on the Big Ben

  • May we see the clock movement?

Surprised the pendulum bob is only 93 lbs.

Is the pendulum heat and cold compensated?

    Thank you.

  • I heard that the Pendelum is so sensitive, it can be modified for seconds per hour by adding a penny to one side.

  • You heard wrong.

  • hes right

  • yes your right. you can see it in one of the other vids,

  • yes, the rate the clock ticks is adjusted by adding or removing pennies the top of the pendulum, effectively changing the length of the pendulum. 1 penny changes the speed by .4 seconds per day!

  • @robertgift Where did you read the pendulum is only 93 lbs? The information text says it weights 203 kg, that is 447.5 lbs.

  • It's so small for something so big.

  • like how far down is it from the bottom of the pendulum?

  • @reevesc1986 The worst breakdown was in 1976 when part of the chiming mechanism disintegrated through metal fatigue. It caused a great deal of damage, and the Great Clock was shut down for a total of 26 days over nine months - the longest break in operations since it was built.
