  • It's the x3 live just like the one in your demo. Btw

  • Hey Glenn, I was gonna get the hd500 but a friend of mine wants to snag the hd and said he will sell me his x3 for $200. Can I make it sound this good going into my Marshall tsp 60 head and Marshall cabs? Also I heard the x3 was discontinued so snagging a used one in good shape seems like a no brainer anyway since the hd line is still available

  • i have real problems making it sound good through an amp and i can barely get it to be loud enough, how can i fix this?

  • @TheASBObrown Try turning up the trim knob on the back of the unit.

  • are all of your downloadable patches set up to be played through an amp?

  • @TheASBObrown No I have plenty that are made to run direct to PA or recorder

  • Your Overdrive Patch is BEAST. Its solid for heavy rock rhythm. And then just when I thought it couldn't get any better.. That Lead Patch is AMAZING. Can't wait to burn on it. The clean and the crunch tone are also amazing. Thanks for the video!

  • Thank you for your videos! I really appreciate you work! I have question on this video. you didn't say how you edited the clean and crunch tones. i would be very thankful if you'll help me with it.)))

  • @Godexalter This is part 2, Look at Part 1 for that.

  • @martinescu91 Unfortunately yes, it's true.

  • I forgot to ask: what would you choose between the X3 Live and the HD300?

  • Thanks for this review man!

By the way, is it possible to have the little tune you're playing in the last part? I loved it ;)

  • can you find a decent groove metal tone with this?

  • I like your patches a lot, but I have a question: Would you consider taking patch requests?

  • @martinescu91 Yes I think it is true.

  • @extremevideopro Yo pienso que es por el defecto al momento de cambiar de patches.

  • Hi. Glenn.. thanks for the vids; very helpful for an old fart like me! Are you using a thumb pick? You've obviously used it a long time. Did it take a long time to get used to playing with it? And do you find you have more expression using it?

    Cheers and good luck!

  • @farkinelify Hi there. Yes I use a thumb pick. I have been using one for about 44 years now. (I started very early LOL). anyway. . . Yes, the technique is unique for hard rock & blues guitar. I guess the best advantage is that you're other fingers are free to pluck the strings. I come from a classical and "claw-hammer" Chet Atkins style of picking. My Grandfather taught me this. I moved into rock music I guess in the early 70's and I just kept the thumb pick cos' I was comfortable with it.

  • Man i love you !!! You're the best, no doubt, i bought my X3 Live 2 weeks ago and didn't know what the F*CK to do or i should say how to do, but now thanks to you i got some decent tones in my X3 live, thanks man! Really appreciate your awsome patches you're sharing !!! =)

  • @oOMetalManiaOo Cool Emre, have fun with it.

  • @extremevideopro That i ensure you i will, i recorded a awsome solo improvisation with your satriani tone that you shared, i'll put it on youtube tomorrow and really want you to comment that and share your thoughts!

  • @extremevideopro Here you go Glenn, Hope you like it /watch?v=IvB5TyeWTVE =)

  • Thank you for helping me being able to navigate around with the x3 live. I feel like I can figure out how to dial in some nice tones .

  • is there a looper on this one?

  • @phonz0 No the X3 does not have a looper but the HD units do.

  • I think gt-10 is better for live performances and these one for recording the sound on a computer or just jamming

  • can this apply to the hd 500 as well. I have a pod x3 also but i am trying the hd 500 out to see if i can get better tones.

  • @prognosis77 Sure, you can use this same method with the HD500 or even the 300.

  • @extremevideopro dude you are great . thanks for everything.

  • Good grief that looks complicated. I would never be able to figure that out. Thanks for the demo and excellent playing.

  • WOW! What an epic solo that was 7:42 - 8:04

  • Is there any other unit such as this that allows the simultaneous use of a guitar and a microphone for vocals? - each with separate sounds/effects, which I assume the X3 can do but haven't seen it actually do that. Thanks for the great review.

  • @noslen1968 yes the new POD HD units can do that but they don't have the mic pre's that the X3 has. The new HD units really weren't designed for that but it can do it.

  • Hi,

Sounds great.. Am looking to purchase one and trying to see what it can do.

Great info for the Pod. X3.

On this video, what are you using to produce the drum track?

    Thanks

  • @cbal27 I'm using software called EZ Drummer

  • you need a soundcard to recorde with quality?

  • @sk8rifa No you can use the USB in the X3-Live and record that way.

  • What program do you use to make drums??

  • @LordXanders I use Toon Track Superior Drummer.

  • HI great video, just wondering what you recomend setting the output to when going into the front of a amp

    thanks rkrk1

  • @rkrk1504 I used to always set mine to Studio Match direct mode. It depends on the amp I guess.

  • HI great video, just wondering what you recomend setting the output to when going into the front of a amp

    thanks rkrk1

  • Wow, thank you sooo much, really big help on getting me to understand this, and great sound! Lots of talent, love how you play!

  • if you would... wouuld you please give a video on the pod x3 live's pitch shifter/bender? i would truly appreciate that! Thank you!!!!

  • @Cl0udyDayz The X3 bender/shifter is not very good. In my opinion I was never able to get it to sound good.

  • i have an extremely important question. Is tone 2 always the same whereever you switch? example: if i have it on 20A and go to 25A... is tone 2 supposed to be the same?

  • @Cl0udyDayz No it sounds like you have tone 2 locked. When you engage tone 2 (by holding down the tone2 button for a few seconds) then look at the bottom of the screen. If you see a "lock" icon, un-lock it.

  • @extremevideopro you are so awesome.... i have had this problem since 2 months ago and never knew until you answered my question! THANK YOU

  • hi! does this unit have a looper? if so... how do we use it??

  • @Cl0udyDayz no this does not have a looper.

  • Love the videos man!!! Just got an X3 Live and these are a huge help

  • @RazorEater1 Cool, glad you find them useful.

  • i have this pedal but it doesn't work well with the Peavey Vyper amp

    can someone help me out?

    I have a peavey vyper 100W

    thank you

  • thank you.

  • Hi, can i use 2 stomp? i need to use distortion killer z and the frequency shifter after!

  • @sonofscream no you can only use 1 stomp but you can use another in the effects loop.

  • Really nice tones man!

  • i didnt like what he did with the Eq.

This is the best guitar pedal in the world, definitly

PRS guitars are so fkn awesome

  • How do you compare this unit to the Boss GT-10 in its ability to be intuitive and user friendly? The GT-10 seems too deep and seems to entail lots of tweaking where the L6 unit seems more intuitive and friendly. :) How about as far as authentic tones?

  • @richedie Yes the Boss unit is very deep but also very programmable.

  • @5150vhguitar uh oh, here we go, Please don't do it Pin. . .

  • @extremevideopro Don't worry, I won't feed the monster.

  • @Pinstripedtie LOL thanks bro

  • @Pinstripedtie OK Thanks

  • Did you use an amp, or is it plugged direct to a mixer?

  • @electromanic I used an amp. Watch part 1 of the video demo.

  • Those knobs feels fragile & flimsy...

  • @Zhorellski Yes they kinda do

  • @extremevideopro For the money they (line 6) should at least put a sturdy knobs. Which sounds better overall this or GT10?

  • Very instructive and didactic video !!!!

It was exactly what I was looking for!

Thanks for your help and thanks for sharing !

    Good job !!!

  • Thank you so much for your online programming. These settings are exactly what I need for the band. I just got my X3 and am gigging tomorrow and needed the 4 settings although for me I made one a clean jazz w/ little or no effects and added comp. #2 and #3stayed the same as your #1 and #2. Then I used your lead setting for #4 (D). I had to forgo the overdrive setting but then all I would need to do is go into the lead and tap out the mod and delay. Very cool. Kudos to you and God bless.

  • Mega tone!

  • great work !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dounga666 Well Thank You Doug

  • AWESOME DEMO! THANKS!

  • Pretty slick these 'all in one' foot pedal processors, but how reliable are they really? I don't know. Every time I get close to plunking down some coin on one I think 'screw it' and just stick with my old school (real) stomp boxes.

  • @AceOfHeart2012 Yeah for heavy road use they can break for sure. They need to be in cases and treated nice. Something roadies don't always do LOL. I like me real pedals too for on the road use. Foe studio recording though you can't beat these things.

  • Great work! dont understand why would people dislike something like that!

  • Can you tell me how to copy sounds from one pod x3 live to another?

  • @guitarlarry You use Line6 Gearbox for that. Save all of the tones from one X3Live as a bundle then hook up the other X3Live and load the bundle in that one.

  • Excuse me sir !! Can you please show me the last chord ? It's sound pretty great <3

  • I want to use the X3 live along with my Mesa mark IV amp using the 4 cable method, and bypass all preamp, cab, and mic sims. if i did this is there any way to make patches louder than others? like if i set a patch to be louder will it make my amp louder too?

  • @ACS1271990 Yes you can make your patches louder by using the patch level. Your amp should be plenty loud enuff'. I used to have one of those and those are very nice amps.

  • can u make a slash patch

for paradise city solo and rhythm

    please??

  • Man... I just wish I had room on my pedal board...

  • I have a 1960A 4X12 Cab, Could I plug this directly into the extension cab with no amp?

  • @BogWraithius No, you will need some sort of amplification.

  • @BogWraithius yeah that dude is right.. but what u can do i s plug it in durect to the sound board... which i think is better to do instaid of using an amp... for this anyway not for foot pedals

  • thanks very imformative

  • i have a very noob question can i hook a amp to the pod x3 desktop model and use a fbv pedal as a switchboard to the amp?

  • @busterboxer86 Yes you can

  • @extremevideopro What do you mean by that?

  • Does it require an amp, or can you plug in some headphones?

Also, does it record with a USB plugged into the comp? or interface

  • @LowDownKing No you don't need an amp and yes you can record USB to computer.

  • one question. what do you prefer the most? GT10 or x3 live?

  • Parabéns cara....

  • i was about to sleep as you are trying to write "Overdrive" :)

  • Hey what are you running your board through?

  • @holdemstacy You mean The X3 Live? I'm running through an amp. See Part1

  • Hey Glenn, thanks for the demo, it's amazing.

You could create end show us a patches to play Death Metal like bands "In Flames", "Dark Tranquility"???...

Thank you, and Cheers from Italy =)

  • you are a brilliant musician man =]

and thank you so much for this video.

  • @harrothahobo Hey thanks man.

  • Glenn, a huge "thank you" for the demo! It would take me 6 months reading that manual to get half the tone you showed us! I re-watch the vid's and learn something each time. You have a great style also! Thanks again!

    Greg

  • @lynnweiler Hey Greg your welcome. :)

  • Glenn halped me so much with finding my tone on this board... You can hear my sound in my Metal Symphony...

    Thanks Glenn ;-)

  • That's so hot!!!!!! I love your tone!!!!!!!! :-D

  • kickass PRS

Im really a prs and pod fun

  • hi. liked you video very much. but i've got a question for you. саn i use my distortion pedal with this processor? i mean, can i turn off the dist in this processor and use my pedal instead? thanx

  • Sure, you can go through the effects loop.

  • i have a dream that any one answer these question which better pod x3live or gt-10 ?

    can u answer me

  • @4511702 depends on what you want to do with them. both are very powerful but if you want something simple to use, the best amplification and some killer effects. the boss gt 10 is for you .... but if your looking variation of utility and the ability to connect several instruments in addition to listening 2 different effects at the same time the pod x3 live is better. that's my opinion, I hope you serve.

  • @arturojagg2 i still confused but thanks for the reply

  • @4511702 no problem men ;)

  • Yes I put the amp on clean channel and turn the bass, mid and treb straight up 12 noon.

  • Watching your demos of this thing makes me regret spending $1500 on a tube half stack...

  • what did you do with the Guitar pad and line/amp switches?

  • The pas is not on and the Line/Amp switch is set to amp

  • Hi.

I´m thinking about getting me the x3 live but I´m not quite sure. Very important for me would be to have rectiefied distortion sounds (in the sound range of 36 Crazyfists, Rammstein, Isis for example). Can you achieve these kind of sounds with the x3? Is it possible to put the Morpheus Droptune between guitar and x3? Is it possible to put other than line6plug in sounds to the pod?

Would be very thankfull for infos!

    best wishes from Germany

  • Yes the X3 can achieve those types of tones but you would be better downtuning your guitar rather than using the Morpheus Droptune. I have one of those and the sound is kind of warbley.

  • Thanks for the hint. I read that the Morpheus Droptune has not the best soundquality in lower tuning (more than 2 steps), but the musical stuff I´m doing combines my normal dropped c tuning and for heavy rythm parts dropped b, so my idea is to use the morpheus to tune down my dropped c guitar. I hope this works better. Have you ever tried this?

  • No but that is a good idea and it should sound fine.

  • hey glenn whe nu use the pod with an amp, you put the amp on clean channel, but do u then turn down all the knobs down to 0 on the amp like bass middle and treible and all that? exept volume ofc.

  • great job man..

    its helpful....

    thanks...

  • Wow, that demo was amazing love the axe too man, was unsure as to weather to buy a pod x3 live or a boss gt10 but i think i will get the pod cos this video has seemed to win me over :)

  • very nice and cool but i have a marshall can i used with marshall or i must to used wiht line 6 ?

  • yes you can use with marshall

  • Thanks.

  • thats awsome man

  • This guy is a multifx master. I haven't seen any firm's multifx units represented highly detailed to users except Line 6 series before. Congratulations. And special thanks. I used to stuck btw Zoom G9.2tt & Vox Tonelab Le for my Hi-Fi system but I think I'm gonna choose X3 Live.

  • dude not only are your tones awesome. But thats one sick guitar riff. I could so see that as a rock hit if you were to make it into a song or something.

Your videos are soooo freakin helpful man. Check out my riffing video. I would love to get feedback/tips from you!

  • these tones sound like a phase inverted pickup... the high gain needs to be a little more open sounding in the high frequencies

  • Man, your finger skills are IMPRESSIVE! \o/

  • Thanks Andre

  • could you tab the first overdrive part c, its an amazing riff, it would help tons, plz reply ! =]

  • Thanks but I'm sorry, I really don't know what a "tab" is.

  • @extremevideopro I'ts do a tablature.

  • haha awsum u dont no what tab is thts awsum hate tab notation is waaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!!! betta

  • @ranga5110 WTF???

  • i just hate tab u get no rhythm with it

  • @ranga5110 ah ok, i didnt understand your english :D

  • Very useful video, thanks!!!

  • Hello,

is the pod x3 live complete the same thing as the pod x3(the red one) except the ability to use it by feet?

  • Yes it is the same except for the pedal board and the more I/O options. Otherwise you can get the same sounds from either unit.

  • And your videos really helped me a lot!

    Thanks man!

  • before I got mine i thought it would be more complicated but now, Man this thing is amazing, really easy to drive.

The best fx pedal in the world. In my opinion of course.

  • Cant wait to get mine :) I'm actually going back from all individual pedals to digital fx for this, all those cables piss me off...

  • Hi!

how do you do the loops tracks ? with the pod x3 live ?!

    thx

  • The X3 does not have a looper.

  • ok,thank you

  • sold.

  • grate, now can you please show me how to play like that too?

    awesome sound

  • It all looks so complicated, i think i will not be able to use it after i will get it :(

  • No it's not man. Just follow my videos. Pause it and watch it again if you have to. You will get it!!

  • Loved the video, any chance of you doing those same four patches with the amp modeling on?

  • extreme ass licking pro...

  • line 6 spider 4 ampp

  • HMM, I'd try the M13 with that amp.

  • You use a compressor for distortion? I heard its makes the tone sound muffled.. would you recomend using a compressor on a high gain amp instead of a stompbox?

  • I'm not really using compressor for ditortion. I'm just using it to get more level out of the sound and make it smoother.

  • would you reccomend this? or the line 6 m13?? Maybe formaking lots of effects, and U2 type music... i cant chose between the two. dnt know which to get

  • depends on what amp you are using..

  • you really did this well...!!!

    respect!!..

I will buy this multi-effect board, too!!

  • Man you make it look so easy.

  • . I have a line 6 Spider III amp(30-W), and im using a dean dime razorback. Im not exactly sure how to set-up my gear. What im doing now is running a patch cord from the guitar in(on the amp) to the R/mono Live on the X3. Then I just connect my guitar to the guitar in. there are more channels on the actual amp. should these all be turned all the way down? Any help would be appriciated! thanks you

  • There are 2 ways to do this. You can plug your guitar into the guitar input of the X3 and then out of the X3 Left/Mono out into the front of the amp on the clean channel. or you can use what they call the 4 Cable Method. I have a description on my blog for the 4CM.

  • thanks alot, do they have different sounds or are they the same?

  • Some amps work better with the 4CM so you should try it to see if it sounds good with your amp.

  • I dont think I can, dont you need a power amp and a cab for that type of set-up? there no fx retrun plug ins and the others

  • Hey, im thinking about getting either the line 6 pod x3 live or a zoom g9.2tt have you had any experience with the zoom? if you have could you tell me witch one you prefer?

  • sorry mate, never used the zoom units.

  • @extremevideopro hey Glen, would this be better than a GT-10 for composing ur own tone and really fiddling with the distortion setting?

....and does this have FX like chorus, flanger, harmonizer and all that, like the BOSS GT-10?

  • It has all those effects except harmonizer and whammy.

  • very nice sound. Do you think thats sound would be good with pickup Seymour Duncan sh8. Thats pickup has a lot of bas and middle and little high freq. And it has a very hight output signal. thanks for answer

  • Hmmm, if it's very high output you might experience clipping. The X3 has a -10db pad switch though so you should be OK.

  • is better have all pedal separeted

  • well they only gave me an "open with" option so i opened it with gearbox, but i didnt see ur patches in the program, is there a step im missing?
