God I remember this and I loved it as a child although hated Marchpane as she was evil! I can remember my mum giving plaits like Marchpane and I had the book that accompanied this series! I haven't seen this since I was a child!!

Reading and hearing this story as an adult is fascinatingly different...there's all these undertones about free will, and you notice how Tottie is the real adult rather than the "parent" dolls

i agree also the undertones of upper/lowerclass distinction also @7.00 hes a little boy doll, our little boy, he belongs to us, as if was tying to convince himself rather than convince anyone else the dialogue is very heavy for a kids tv show

I got my DVD of this at the weekend. Absolutely wonderful programme! Such a shame that the second series is lost. I hope it turns up sometime. I need to see it!
