  • As great as Zen was, she could not have beaten RA on this day. She wouldn't have beat her the day she won the Haskell either. Who can really say who was better? RA beat 3yo males in the Preakness and Haskell, including beating Summer Bird by 7+ lengths (who went on to win the Travers and then the Jockey Club Gold Cup against older males), and she won the Woodward against older males. Z beat older males once, came close second time. Hard to say. Its just not clear cut that Z is better than RA

  • @coffeecat73 4/4 by the info i just presented to you, do you still think that its not a clear cut? if so, explain to me why?

  • @coffeecat73 3/4 artificial dirt, BUT she broke her maiden at keenland, which has artificial dirt. now, even though rachel beat the boys, think of it, which horse out of those boys were GOOD. summer bird. who else? Zenyatta raced against multiple g1 winners. she came out a champion. rachel didnt. then next year, zenyatta was NOT worn out, like rachel. she lost by a head against one of the best horses in the country, while rachel won 2 cheap races, which was a supposed "comeback".now tell me,

  • @coffeecat73 2/4 turned into a mine that bird. NOW with zenyatta, they didnt want to run her against the boys because they knew that she was gonna be crap if they ran her CONSTANTLY against the boys. she ran against the top fillies in the country. some, even better than most of the male horses at that time. Rachelran against some prety good horses, but didnt want to run her in the classic. why? because they didnt want to lose to zenyatta. their little baby excuse was that she doesnt like the

  • @coffeecat73 1/4 true, but think of it this way. If moss and sherrifs ran her the same way jackson ran rachel, she wouldnt win another race. she wouldnt be the (almost) undefeated superstar that we know. this is why. Jackson basically ABUSED rachel's talent. he milked it too much. he showed her off against the boys like 5 times? then tellme how many races she won after? she won a stakes race against claimers, and won an OK race at belmont i think. it was smart of Jackson to retire her before she

  • Incredible how good Rachel was, in her prime. And how quickly that form was lost, never to be regained. Goes to show talent like that must be appreciated, while it is here. When Zenyatta won the '09 BC Classic & was then retired, I figured we had all been deprived of her ability too soon. Now that Zen is gone from racing, i'm still singing the same tune. How short-lived it is, to witness true greatness.

  • I don't understand how you can choose between Zen or Rachel... I love them both!

  • 2:05 ill be back, imana get a soda.(moments later) oh wow, the second place finisher hasnt even crossed the wire yet

  • i like this version of the race because the guy w/ the awsome accent is track anouncing.

  • @MaDkOrNfLaKeS, Mark Johnson is his name

  • @joelsterling thx for telling me. it was killing me cuz i forgot his name. thx

  • Undoubtedly a great horse but Zenyatta would have blown her away. It was only a bad ride that cost her the Breeders cup this year again. Zenyatta's a legend.

  • @bigttim1 A ridiculous statement.

  • @bigttim1

Has she ever actually 'Blown' away her competition. Besides the Apple Blossome last year she was struggling to get past even Switch and Rinterval, I highly doubt she would have beaten Rachel in 09.

  • @queenluciaa - I agree. Put Rachel'ss Woodward against ANY of Zenyatta's 1 1/4 races.

  • @queenluciaa -They were both Great. Now we move on to Watch Plum Pretty, Inglorious, Khatmanblu, Zazu, and Turbulent Descent.

  • @Nucleo85Torino

I agree. Did you hear Plum Pretty won the Sunland Oaks by 22 lengths?! Talk about major outclass.

  • @queenluciaa - She is my pick for this years oaks. Inglorious also(if she runs).

  • he did not even ask her to pick it up when the were turning for home as you can see calvin dosen't even do anything to ask her to the other horse's were trying hard but rachel had more speed I personaly know Calvin Borel from my dad I asked him did you push her at all or even tell her to pick it up his answer no I let her run freely when she did I relized how far she had broken loose from the pack and she contuined to pick it up I didn't do anything to make her do that at all.

  • Rachel Alexandra was brilliant

  • BOOOOOO!!!! LONG LIVE QUEEN ZENYATTA!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Calieroy

And that is what makes you a bitch.

  • @queenluciaa I agree. Dammit! Can't we like both of them. So stupid as hell we already have so many divisions, do we really have to do that with horses?!?!

  • @bubblinbrownsugar616

I have been trying to get that point across to SO many Zen fans. But they simply refuse, thinking that no horse can be classified as Champion unless its Zenyatta. I love Zenyatta but despise her fans.

  • @queenluciaa, Isn't that ironic. LOL. I liked Rachel Alexandra, but despised her owner. She was never in Zenyatta's league. Not even at her best. The fractions she ran in races in 2009 would've just been a great stiff pace for Zenyatta to have thundered right on by her in the stretch. Racing Zenyatta is like racing a really powerful colt, that has the most devastating closing onslaught in the sport. I promise, if she was full out to hold off Macho Again? Zenyatta would've strolled by her. JMO.

  • @GBeret83

IMO GBeret83, we never got to see how Rachel would have reacted with a kinder hand. She was treated horribly by Asmussen. And was brilliant with Wiggins. His conditioning helped her survive the 09' season. Zenyatta was treated wonderfully by Shirreffs. I wonder what would have happened if he trained Alexandra too? Besides, you think Zenyatta would have blown past Alexandra in top form? Hardly. Shes not the mediocore fillies like Rinterval or Switch.

  • @queenluciaa - In regards to Switch, she was only a 3 yr old, and is now blossoming into a very good 4 yr old. 2 G1 under her belt already this year, but she is more of a 7-8 furlong mare.

  • This race was amazing...20 lengths... What a Great filly.

  • She Rocks!

    Dan

  • now THAT is a filly, She wasent even being pushed by calvin She is something.

  • All these Rachel Alexandra fans sound like these creeps that get caught on "To Catch A Predator". I feel like Chris Hansen listening to their pathetic excuses.

  • @DBJMKJ HEY EVERYONE PEDOPHILE ON HERE

  • I just love how he pets her right before the finish!!! :)

  • I don't kno if anyone noticed this but Calvin wasn't even asking for anything at the end! His hands and seat were completely still except for the big, heartfelt pat he gave her at the end. She didn't even look as if she were even trying that hard at the end, she was just cruising. now THAT'S a horse!

  • @Kulaness I know. Every good racehorse will be breed after its race career. Because racehorses don´t live long and many of them die in accidents. It´s not important where, if in a race or "at home":a racehorse with leg problems is the same as a "rat". :(

  • rachel is officially done after today. the horse has problems

  • I know every Alexanrda-Fan will hate me for his comment:It looks like she just holds her speed. And since the bad news of horses dieing after races, horses which can´t run comes to the slaughers, horibble racehorse training etc there aren´t much people interested on horse races. And I miss racehorses which run with there heart like the second horse. Alexandra looks like she still knows that she wins and just run like a walk in a park.:(

  • Good luck on friday Rachel!

Almost exactly a year after this wonderful performance (:

Ps, a 3 y/o filly who beats older males, wins races by 20 lengths, and is one of only 5 fillies to win a race in over 100 years is NOT overhyped. And a mare who has a record of 16 for 16, no matter what the surface is NOT overhyped either.

Both Rachel and Zenyatta are deserving of all the praise in the world in my books!

  • Why in the world would the owners of this horse not put her in the derby and then sell her right after she won the oaks so that she could compete in the belmont! BIG IDIOTS!

  • I couldn't tell, but it looked like Rachel was in second for a majority of the time. But that was an amazing win! Her onwers must be EXTREAMLY proud of their horse. I would.

  • So sweetpony, you say that but then you come back and say that you feel bad for the horse? Wtf you all don't make any sense. my fucking Lord

  • Those fools at the NTRA, NTWA and the DRF can only beat Zenyatta on paper.

She's 15-0 on the racetrack and 0-2 on paper.

  • Rachel fans look for excuses before and after every loss. Zenyatta never needed them and perhaps never will...

  • Dubby, your Rachel is the overrated star. Zenyatta will prove she is no synthetic specialist when she wins the BCC field again. Rachel won't even hit the board in that race or will be retired by then. She is the biggest fraud and sham in the history of horse racing. Sorry if trashing restricted 3YO races duped all you RA fans and Eclipse voters...

  • @sweetepnoy They might be 3yo races but your older horses and fillies arent exactly world beaters, you can argue thatn Zenyatta has faced no quality oposition and Rachel beat Summer Bird alot further than Zen did in the classic.

  • LOVE the commentator! Who is he and channel was this for?

  • Of all of her 2009 races, her run in the Kentucky Oaks was probably the most impressive to the naked eye. But even if she tried running off, like she did in this field, the machine that is Zenyatta would still run her down and go by her before the wire. Zenyatta is simply to big and physical for other horses to hold off that devastating closing onslaught period. Because it's really hard to run away from or hold back a "runaway locomotive."

  • Wow let me say you have to be a serious Idiot to make a statement like because Zenyatta is big and physical she would beat Rachel. A horse that post 105+ beyers and run 9 furlong in 1:46.33 as she did in the Mother Goose wiithout effort doesnt really seem to get the respect she deserves. If you think that Zenyatta in this Oaks field, Mother Goose, Haskell or most of her races would run down Rachel you are a absolute FOOL. Zenyatta is a over hyped synthetic specialist nothing more plenty less.

  • You overhype overrated Rachel just lost to a grade 2 Zardana. You think Ruffian at 80% would have lost to Zardana. GET A CLUE LEMMING! lol

  • @duhru4real where you even around when Ruffian raced?

  • Comment removed

  • @dubby300, you are right that Rachel A doesn't get the respect she deserves, since the Oaks win. So many detracters- Some Zen fans don't seem to be able to admit another female horse can be even close to as good as Zen. RA won HOTY because of an incredible 3yr old season. I just hope we can see her race like that again. Her camp is quiet, wondering how she is. She didn't win the prep, I think too much expectation was on her. Other HOTY winners lost the first race back.

  • @Temple95, I think that "even close to as good as Zen" question got answered this season. Rachel could've never held off Zenyatta's closing onslaught. Even at her zenith in 2009. In 2010, a race between the two would've been laughable. Jess Jackson got too ambitious with her, and ran her straight into the ground. Racing colt's too many times. At a time she was still growing and maturing. Both mentally and physically. The toll showed in 2010. She'll now be forever remembered as a one year wonder.

  • @Temple95

I'm getting sick of the Zen fans comparing her to Secretariat. Her accomplishments are incredible, but, Secretariat won the Triple Crown. Zens trainer and owner even said that had she run against the boys as a 3 year old she would have gotten beat often.

  • This Jess Jackson is a clown.

This guy thinks he is a military commander moving pieces around on a map. If the stars don't align and the tooth fairy does not wave his magical wand, then his filly will not attend the "Race for the Ages".

Charles Cella should leave the purse at 5 million and let the coward and his trainer stay at home.

He didn't want to go out to Santa Anita and he doesn't want to show up at Oaklawn

Here's a guy running scared and its become laughable!

  • gotta love rachel

  • say*

  • i saw zenyatta and rachel race & see what happens

  • Everyone think Rachel is so good just because she won the Preakness and she barley won it. if that finish lien was further she would have lost. Zenyatta saves her spurt and has the strength to keep driving and driving. i'm just saying

  • DUHRU4REAL is a douche who thinks he knows it all

um lets see.. Zenyatta raced outside of CA only ONCE, raced against to me same horses over and over(except the BCC), and raced on that fake ass excuse of a surface. Sorry but dirt is much harder for a horse to run on. Come on Sherrifs take her elsewhere for once!!!

  • Sherriffs is taking her to the DIRT APPLE BLOSSOM. Your overrated overhype Rachel is still a NO SHOW!

If it clucks like a chicken...

  • @duhru4real bout time that he did again. um did I every say I supported the horse? NO

    Blame Jess not thee horse

Hope for her next start he takes Zen to KY not back to CA.

  • rachel beat sorry ass 3 yr olds. she raced in restricted races and the only time she faced open company was in the woodward which she beat bullsbay and machoagain and barley beat those sorry ass grade 3 horses lol macho again was 9th in the GRADE 2 CLARK lol now that is funny.

If MachoAgain can catch up to rachel and lose by a neck then im pretty sure Zenyatta can snort-in and beat that rachel

  • 1800 what was zenyatta doing as a 3yo? aleat she ran a triple crown race the kentucky oaks the haskell and the woodward and she won tem all while setting six records for time distance and making history she also did this on at least six different race tracks. atleat she consitently raced the best horses in her generation. the key word is consistently. there is no comparing waht they did as 3yo's. lets see how their 4yo campagins stack up. if RA continues her trend no one will be comparing soon.

  • Rachel Just won HOTY ...

  • This isn't Dave Johnson on here ya tard! And by the way Johnson has called a LOT of memorable races!!

    V

    V

  • the track announcer's name is Mark Johnson

  • It is simply painful to listen to this guy Johnson call races..Churchill made a mistake by not taking Colmus instead

  • Stone Legacy? lol. Who was in this race??? Nice win though.

  • Hey Xy.... the owners for Z never raced her ont he slop and dirt only once. So does that mean they are AFRAID too? Idiot.

  • Incredible. She won almost 20 LENGTHS without even trying, and left the rest of the pack looking like they were wallowing in mud. Simply stellar. What a treat it is to see this girl race...

  • Wow. She knows what to do, he didnt really have to ask her

  • she seriously is the best 3yo out there.

  • This is the first time I've seen this filly as I've been drueling all over Sea The Stars this summer. She does look exceptional, both in her stride and conformation.A genuine question for U.S fans though,is she beating anything in her races that are top notch or is it an average year for U.S 3 yaer olds?

  • she is beating the best horses she can. the owners at this time believed in keeping girls against girls and males against males which is why she was in the oaks, but her new owners put her up against 3 4 and 5 yr old males and she made them look like maidens, she beat the derby winner in her next race.

  • Yes, she is. After this, she raced against the boys in the triple crown in teh preakness, beat them. She raced in the mother goose, and won again by 20, (against soso fillies) broke the track record then won the midsummer derby against the top boys, won by 5. Ran in the woodward (against top older males in the country) set the pace, broke track splits, and won. that was a mile and a quarter race against the biggest US older male closer. All Grade one races...

  • She was also undefeated...

  • Stone Legacy and flying Spur....lmao! WHO???

  • Where are u duhru4real?!! Can't even answer mu question.

  • Where is he? Probably changed his name again, from Deerhunter to u duhru4real, to who knows what else! Only way to identify him is the weird syntax ("HA HA HA HA!") and the bizarre, quasi-sexual attachment to Zenyatta. He used to really bug me. But now, to quote him, I'm ROFLMAO, HA HA HA.

  • I figured that out too!! Same exact personality, and they tend to "mysteriously" agree with eachother!!

  • yeah I got the feeling they are one in the same

  • Since Rachel's owners are AFRAID to face Zenyatta and it makes ZERO sense for Zenyatta to pass on the most lucrative race in North America(Breeder's Cup) to chase Rachel to a MUCH lesser race, I would love nothing more than for Shirrefs to send Life Is Sweet(Zenyatta's sidekick) to face Rachel and have Life Is Sweet beat her! How cool would that be? NO legitimate reason for Jackson to skip the Breeder's Cup except fear of loss.

  • OK ... She won by a zillion lengths. But can anybody in all honesty tell me if ANY of the horses in this field have even run again since that race? People always criticize the fields Zenyatta faces, but this was a field of pack mules. The boys that Rachel beats are just Grade 3 at best or glorified allowance horses. This is the weakest male crop inmany years(No accomplishment beating them. The only decent males, Rail Trip and Einstein, Rachel hasn't faced.

  • your an idiot, please tell me who Zenyatta has beat, please include all the male horses (oh thats right she has never run against males) enough said!

  • is Mind that Bird a glorified claimer? Summer Bird? Macho Again? Asiatic Boy? Shall I say, Derby winner, Belmont winner, all Gr. 1 winners????!!!! Sure, lets say it then. They are all "pack mules", whilst Zenyatta has beaten so many great Gr.1 winners and "real" race horses and is the only one of these who hasnt lost!!! And when shes won it has been all against top competition??!! Is that the way we should put it? No, I thought not.

  • I guess you can put Belmont Stakes winner Summer Bird in that group. Rachel took her down in the Haskell this season.

    hb151

  • Actually if I remember a few went on to win GI or continue to be competitive. I know Nan and Gabby's Golden Gal had. A lot of horses she's beaten go on to win afterwards.

  • What's the difference Zenyatta still hasn't proven she can beat G1 males or Rachel on real genuine dirt.

  • I say it because the horses RA beat don't seem to be of the same caliber as the ones Zenyatta beat.

  • The thinking from the 'racing experts' is that trying to keep up with Rachel Alexandra took a lot out of those horses. They were worn out. You can even see it in the Woodward, they couldn't keep the intensity.

IMO As far as intensity, Zenyatta didn't have challenging races, didn't travel to other states, and was relatively fresh when she went into the BC. I like Zenyatta, but she should have won HOY in 2008, not this year.

    Rachel Alexandra deserved HOY 2009.

  • ZENYATTA will race in 2010 !! it official now...

lookout rachel... no hidding this time...

  • no hiding..? like zenyatta making all 5 of her starts in california? that kind of hiding? lol. Jess jackson is trying for multiple races between the two, lets see if the moss's get scared now

  • @Willyrooster actually, its assmusen whos seeking multiple races cuz he knows its gonna take more that one try to beat zenyatta. look it up he said it. also moss said at the awards that where ever rachel enters, zenyatta's gonna be there next to her in the starting gate. so i think u are the wrong one here willy lol

  • Zenyatta will never touch her

  • damn that stride is so sexy

  • RA is 9-9-0-0 with Calvin Borel riding. Will RA beat Zenyatta's undefeated streak? Citation/Cigar's? Peppers Prides? before she is through racing.

  • 6deerhunter5 is an idiot!!

  • @spam1237 as is duhru4real

  • I like RA...but I don't get that feeling I always get when I watch the Secretariat and Zenyatta replays. Even though I watch their replays over and over again and know they'll win- I always get that first kiss feeling when I watch Secretariat and Zenyatta. I think the horses individual ability to capture peoples hearts is what makes them a great horse, not the wins.

  • RA placed 2nd in 2 races as a 2 yr old. My opinion was it was because she only had a mere 2 weeks to rest from the prior races on each of these. The recommended time to rest in between races is AT LEAST 4 weeks. The previous owners did her an injustice by racing her so hard when she was so young!

  • I wouldn't quite call it an injustice, but it's clear she doesn't run as well off of so little time and they should've backed her off a little.

  • Gabby's Golden Gal, who was 4th in the Oaks behind Rachel, won the gr.1 Acorn Stakes at Belmont in her next start. So, the much maligned fillies Rachel beat in the Oaks were not a terrible group.

  • does anybody know if RA has a larger than normal heart?(for those who don't understand what this means, there has been research done on horse genetics and have found that the larger than average thoroughbred heart gene is carried on the x chromosome. when I horse has a larger heart they can usually run better and have more stamina. This is the reason why Man O' War and Secretariat were such successful racehorses.Secretariat's heart was 22lb at his autopsy! the average thoroughbred heart is 9 lbs!

  • I remember her previous owner and breeder, Dolphus Morrison, saying that he tried to breed for the x-factor (large hearts). According to him, Rachel's dam, Lotta Kim, had an enlarged heart, so he believed she had passed that trait on to her daughter.

  • I love that Calvin pets her neck well before they cross the finish. LOL! :) Love Alexandra the Great!!!!

  • She is a true beauty, the resemblence to Ruffian is striking...Ruffian didn't have a blaze, but she was big and strong like Rachel Alexandra is. My whole family was so excited when she won the Preakness, even though I'm one of those always hoping for a Triple Crown winner one of these years. She beat that field soundly, good for her!

  • Dominating performance. You could've eaten lunch in the time between RA getting to the finish line and the 2nd place horse getting there.

  • Comment removed

  • Lol!! So TRUE!!!

  • Rachel Alexandra is amazing, this race reminds me of Ruffian.

  • lol, love the odds 1-5

  • She is the wonder horse.

  • Rachel Alexandra is a very talented filly. She proved to a lot of people that fillies can beat colts.

  • Everyone is so bold after the fact. mrr1980 was the only one with a comment before the fact. The incredibly heavy favorite barely held on... congrats backstroker and kylelee you believed in a 9-5 favorite.... bold.

  • That was about give or take 28 lengths! She's unbeaten, right?

  • I think she lost her first race but has won everything since then. I'm not completely sure though. I am positive she isn't undefeated.

  • She was 6th in her first race, then won the second, was second in her thrid race, won her fourth race, was second again in her fifth race and after that she has won every race since. So her record is 11-8-2-0 I was hoping to see her run against Zenyatta but I don't think it's going to happen.

  • Her record is now 13-10-2-0

  • Rachel Alexandra has a record of 13-10-2-0

She was 6th in 1st Race Maiden Special Weight @ Churchill Downs

  • That's how to call a race, way better than that doddering fool who calls the Kentucky Derby. He never saw Mine that Bird until it was too late. Fire that idiot who called the KD, please! Hire this bloke!

  • Durkin blew the Derby call, but has probably the top 5 races calls in the last 25 years on his resume. You don't know what you are talking about.

  • Jockey doesn't even have to push her. She just runs one speed, fast. Wonder if she can maintain that pace in the Belmont.

  • well both horses today showed all the doubters they have what it takes

  • Hey Fenderstratman, I made about $3700 on this race with an exacta box RACHEL/MINE and another $7000 on a $4000 win bet on RACHEL ALEXANDRA....How'd u do?.....Guess I better either keep on taking those meds or not learn how to read a chart LOL.....Have a good one bro and keep on betting on the wrong horses while I bet on the right ones. I'll pop a bottle for you tonite bro! hahahahah!!!

  • Right on! Only reason I came back to this video was to give that Fenderstratman idiot some shit. I love when ignorance is validated. I don't have your bankroll, but stil made close to $500.00 on her. Awesome filly...

  • ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

  • At the end no whip was needed. She won that fast without being pushed. Borel even patted her right before the finish. Nice, some jockeys would try to get everything just to get a record run. Go Rachel!

  • Her times are not soft by 3yo colt standards! She won this race almost a full second faster than General Quarters won the Blue Grass Stakes! She was also 1/5 of a second off of a stakes record without even trying. Her final 1/8 was in 12 seconds! And on the day of Friesan Fire's win in the Louisiana Derby, she ran on the same track only a couple fifths off of his time and she was geared down before she won! She has increased her win margin with each start! Look for a big race today!

  • my trifecta pick If I was old enough to wager

    1 racheal alexandra

    2. Pioneer of the Nile

    3. Friesan Fire

all bets on Mine That Bird would be risky

  • my bet is Racheal may not win but she will by far smoke Mine That Bird

  • i am so excited to see her run in the preakness. im hoping that she wins!

  • I think this filly will slaughter the colts, she looks really impressive.

  • This filly is a freak a carbon copy of Big Brown who was also a freak until he got injuried.. With Calvin Borel in the drivers seat so to speak it will be tough for anyone to think they have a realistic chance...

  • Hey lookee here, now Rachel is trained by cheater and drug boy ASSmussen. Hahahahahahahahahaha

PS - she isn't going to win for Assman the cheat tomorrow lol :-)

  • oh and in case anyone is concerned about tomorrows weather, if the track at pimlico comes up wet or sloppy, she ran on the same day as Friesan Fire, at the same track, under the same conditions, and romped....she's a go!

  • i hope she wins tomororw.. expecially how those scumbags tried to keep her out of the race!!!!! going be a great day tomorrow for females!!!!!

  • She is going to smoke those fools tomorrow. She has the same jockey as Mine that Bird. Jockey was quoted as saying that he would rather ride Rachel and saying "she is the best horse I've ever sat on".

  • She is not winning tomorrow.

  • The only way that she does not win tomorrow is an injury, otherwise she is the best horse without a doubt. The fractions from her races do not lie as there is not one horse in this race who has run faster than she has, while being hand ridden....

  • Hahahaha, the fractions for her races have been pretty friggin soft by 3yo graded colt standards. You had better either get off your meds or learn to read a PP chart. LOL

Rachel aint winning for drug cheat ASSman tomorrow, book it. LOL

  • Yes, her times have not been blazing. But you need to consider that she has run against fillies with little competition. Until she has some competition and is pushed by the colts, we have no idea what she can run. There are several that have the ability to win; Pioneer, Friesan Fire, Mine That Bird (though I would be surprised), but Rachel has the best chance. I think you might be eating your words later this afternoon.

  • Hey fenderstratman, what was that you were saying? Told ya.

  • Comment removed

  • well she did

  • now wat u think

  • Enter the $100 Preakness Pick Contest for FREE!! HorseRacingInside (dot) com

  • no whip, just a pat on the neck with Calvin's hand, what a girl!

  • This was a horrible field and she did what she had to do. I'm just praying nothing happens to her in the Preakness.

  • Don't think he went to the whip once either

  • So is Calvin gonna ride Mine That Bird or Rachel Alexandra?

  • R.A.

  • Calvin has said he's riding Rachel Alexandra in the Preakness. That's the latest I've heard. It is going to be one HELL of a run for both!

  • I wonder why Calvin choose her to ride in the Preakness? I mean i have NOTHING against Rachel, but i really think he could of gottn Mine That Bird to win, and I would really love to see a Tripple Crown winner this year. But good luck to the both of them, and the rest of the field!!

  • Mine that Bird is no Barbaro. I bet Barbaro would of been the triple crown winner

  • Closest we've come, recently, is Afleet Alex in 2005. Bad run in the Derby he destroyed in the other two races.

  • I hope it's a great race with MTB winning. I'd really like to seem him run at the 1-1/2 miles.

  • Yea he definatly has competition though!!! Who's going to be his jockey?

  • i cant believe she is in the preakness

  • The only way I will watch the Preakness or the Belmont is if Rachel Alexandra runs. Otherwise, none of these colts impress me enough to want to sit down and watch the race.

I've heard people compare Rachel to Ruffian. Ruffian has my heart, now and forever. In a dream race with the two of them, though, I would have to bet on Ruffian, no matter what. She always took the lead, and she never gave it up. She would hear Rachel coming and take off.

  • I hope she runs in the Preakness!! She will show "Mine that Bird" what a real racehorse is. Run Rachel Run!!

  • amazing race!!!!! thanx for posting, i missed it on tv =]

  • That is the beautiful part of it, she hasn't turned on the "after burners" yet. You wait until they are asked for, then she's going to knock your socks off.

But, from what I saw, if she continues to run in the style she ran the Oaks, not sure the afterburners will ever be needed.

Loved the race, and we definately saw on the greats kick some butt.

  • Imagine the possibilities breeding Rachel Alexandra with Curlin!!!! Now that they are owned by the same connections, you have to think that will happen. I feel for Calvin. Who does he ride in the Preakness now???

  • The breeding question remains open. Champions don't always do well as parents. Secretariat won the 1973 Kentucky derby, and Mr. Prospector was seventh.

In the 1982 Travers, Conquistador Cielo had just been syndicated for $36 million, yet lost to Runaway Groom, who turned out to be a better sire.

They need to breed her to something in the Elusive Quality or Carson City lines to get something great. Or send her to Blushing John if he's still alive.

  • I wouldn't have never sold her....money talks now days...I heard they sold her for 10million dollars what a deal. I hope the new owner don't mess this filly up.

  • YES!!!!! New owner, possible Preakness run, and I'm going to be there!

  • great race! this filly is amazing!

i loved the commentators annunciation when she entered the home stretch!
