i had the same problem but it worked after a while for sum reason. it seems like it has a mind of its own or sumting like that. try this dont use ur player for a while or better yet drain the battery and then plug the mp3, if it doesn't work then the one year warantee should cover it.

yes your right you do not need to use software like itunes to load music on this Sony, just drag and drop, plus most PC users already have the windows media player-11 on there computer that comes included with this player to use for loading your music on this player. this video review was a little blurry but the new Sony does look nice!
