I was really surprised to see how realistic this looked. Most stage make-up looks so risiculousy unrealistic that this was actually scary to see. The nose was a definate "creep-out" factor.
I'd suggest starting with something like a "fake scar" kit available around halloween (look by costumes in grocery or pharmacy stores, or a place like "Spencer Gifts"). That's a good way to try techniques without spending much money - especially if you're doing it 'just for fun'. Just because it's a scar kit doesn't mean that's what you have to use it for! First figure out if you're allergic to Latex (or liquid latex). Have fun, be safe, and take photos!
Theatrical supply stores sell the makeup and wax. In this particular case, Dr. Maginnis is using Ben Nye (brand) makeup. You may also find less-expensive makeup you can try these effects with at stores such as Spencer Gifts and many drug stores near Halloween. "Tooth and Nose Wax" is typically available at the same locations, and is part of most "student" theatrical makeup kits - which is a great way to start! Thanks for watching!
Hey! Thanks a lot for this video :)) It's easy to do, and it looks so WOW and realistic!!! You;re genious! Keep up with great work, I love your videos! :)
Last Halloween, I used this technique with the wax. I had a bullet hole through my forehead, lol. But the problem was that it kept sliding off of my face, lol.
I love the one using only makeup, you expect vampire bites to be gaping holes with ripped tissue, but those makeup bites were just so simple, and almost graceful, 5 stars!
We'd advise against using acrylic paint, which would be harder to remove and may irritate eyes/skin, etc.
Regular cosmetics or (better yet) theatrical makeup is best. Around Halloween, one can often find relatively inexpensive makeup that you can use to experiment with throughout the year (if you plan ahead!)
In October, when stores are getting ready for Halloween, you can usually find low quality (but also less expensive) makeups at many stores such as Spencers Gifts.
It'll work it just wont' match you're skintone as well. It also might not be as sticky so a few dabs of Spirit Gum might be needed. You usually make the nose and scar wax match your skintone but yeah. all you would have to do is make it match u with base.
This makes theatre become real life. In fact, in the end, one is delighted to realise that, with a good make-up, a magnificent transformation can be made within a very short time.
If i want it too look like some of the blood runs down my neck.. WHat do I do then? ^^
Really good tutorial!

ive found eyelash glue to be fairly productive in the facial department :)
What of liquid latex?
(if your not allergic.. :) are there any other comparable substitutes?
i know they make these latex-free gloves so there must be some new-fangled soy product on the market :) any suggestions?

is the highlighter peach or white?
teefrmdabay 3 years ago
You would want to use a color lighter than your base color, but not pure "white". Dr. Maginnis is using something similar to a peach then.
