I think we need to start making our own military equipment, Canada has made some great equipment for the military, like the LAV-25, LAV 3, we should stop buying other countries stuff.

It's only our numbers and navy that need the boost and the former is being dealt with currently under Conservative advertisement and incentive strategies. Recruitment is way up, but unfortunately, any move to upgrade the navy is blocked by the opposition in Parliament.

Canada, we need to convinve our leaders to purchase attack helicopters. Transport, such as the CH47, need defence during a "hot drop". @couchpatato384 Canada does not need a dedicated attack helicopter at the moment. They cost too much and are too expensive to maintain. The Griffons act as an escort / attack helicopter. It's proven to be a very reliable workhorse in Afghanistan.
The door gunners are just as, if not more reliable than the automated systems on an Apache. The US often calls for Canadian Griffons to escort their Chinooks.
@JTF2CSOR1 Couldn't agree more. I'm training to be a pilot, and I WISH we had attack choppers just for the chance to fly em, but our Griffons are kicking ASS over there. The Taliban are WAY more afraid of them than Apaches - Apaches can only shoot forward. Griffons have nearly a 360 degree arc of fire. I heard this straight from the door gunners at my old unit, and from my buddy who just got back from doing a ground tour.
@hellmuth878 Griffons are armed with Machine gunes. Timmy is much more afraid of the Apache then then Griffon, hell THey are more affraid of the Kiowa then the Griffon. I personally am relieved to see an Appachy of Kiowa on station overhead.

@couchpatato384 we also need a higher population. i was listening to CBC Radio and they were talking about how getting out population to 100 million would improve jobs and stuff, but also our military will be a lot stronger. They say right now that they would rather have 1 Canadian soldier over 6 American soldiers because we have to be trained harder and smarter due to our low popluation. Imagine if our numbers were doubled but kept the training.

@PcGamerPaul It is now becoming used in pretty well all combat scenarios to wear with the standard bullet proof vest and carries BRP's in the pockets for extra fragmentation protection.

Damn this video makes me incredibly proud of the Canadian Forces and to be Canadian. Especially that they go and provide first aid to a kid trying to kill them, saying "we're gonna get you outta here". The CF deserves way more respect than we give them here in Toronto.

@MikbaninX This is just one acount, you can't say that unless you take an acount from every Canadian, American, and Brit serving in the forces and to hve ever served in the forces.
There are plenty of people who go apeshit under fire in all 3 millitaries, there are also plenty who stay cool in all 3.

@andrew321977 i've drove down a country road with no lights on at about 10 at night with litton gen 2+ its the freakiest thing to do but you can see better without the lights on ... and thats without IR, was EX-US army or USMC stock apparently haha good shit it was

@andrew321977 haha yea the decent NV is well worth the money i havent had the plesure of shooting at night, different for you considering shooting is basicly your job lol, but congrats on the perfect score, just gotta but the IR onto it and turn the field to day see everything move, i've used it to stawk deer and with IR on you can spot there eyes from a huge distance away

Our armored divisions are fine, so is our infantry and air force. It's only our numbers and navy that need the boost and the former is being dealt with currently under Conservative advertisement and incentive strategies. Recruitment is way up, but unfortunately, any move to upgrade the navy is blocked by the opposition in Parliament.

Canada, we need to convinve our leaders to purchase attack helicopters. Transport, such as the CH47, need defence during a "hot drop". Not to mention we need to greatly improve our Navy, to prevent Russian bastards from threatening our great north. I believe I speak for everyone, when I say our military needs improvement. Like if you agree.

@couchpatato384 Sorry to tell you but the government is a step ahead. They're already doubling the military budget and plan to almost double our military size (from 60,000 to 100,000) by 2014.

@couchpatato384 Canada does not need a dedicated attack helicopter at the moment. They cost too much and are too expensive to maintain. The Griffons act as an escort / attack helicopter. It's proven to be a very reliable workhorse in Afghanistan.
The door gunners are just as, if not more reliable than the automated systems on an Apache. The US often calls for Canadian Griffons to escort their Chinooks.

@JTF2CSOR1 Couldn't agree more. I'm training to be a pilot, and I WISH we had attack choppers just for the chance to fly em, but our Griffons are kicking ASS over there. The Taliban are WAY more afraid of them than Apaches - Apaches can only shoot forward. Griffons have nearly a 360 degree arc of fire. I heard this straight from the door gunners at my old unit, and from my buddy who just got back from doing a ground tour.

@hellmuth878 Griffons are armed with Machine gunes. Timmy is much more afraid of the Apache then then Griffon, hell THey are more affraid of the Kiowa then the Griffon. I personally am relieved to see an Appachy of Kiowa on station overhead.

@couchpatato384 The great thing tho is that we do have the best special forces in the world ..but the only thing holding us back r numbers if its a 5 v 5 against us we'll kick ass.....And ya we do need new equipment in the navy and mabye a upgrade for the armored divisons

@couchpatato384 You also need to realize that the Russians aren't our enemies. Their our allies until they go hostile. There is no reason to be down talking them like that. Our great north, is about to be melted down into a pile of frosty goop. Why? IEDs? Nope. Global warming. But 'Eh. Can't fight that with bullets, sadly. But otherwise, I agree. Better aerial equipment and in my opinion, newer weapons. Not sure about the Navy, though.

We actually do have the second best military training, according to the British MoD, canadian troops have the second best (after the British) ratio in the NATO and UN, following are the Americans, Australiens, Israelis and Russian.

The only thing that the Russians have been using their military for in the past 20 years is Chechen rebels and Georgia in 2008.

@couchpatato384 While I do have faith in the US helping us out when we need it, I agree that we need our own hardware. I was going to apply to be a pilot but noticed we have only a few jets and then all of our helicopters are either transport or rescue aircraft. We have NO attack choppers and I feel thats like missing an arm. I'm considering applying for the British forces solely because they've got more toys.. Anyone recently apply for Infantry, Armor, or Combat Engineer in the CF this month?

@iamcondescending I applied for Infantry/Armor/Combat Engineer but the interview and stuff is just for armor and combat engineer..I guess I wrote something wrong for infantry haha. I'm really hoping for Armor as I think that's what I'd be best at out of the two.. I signed up for combat roles because I hate the idea lots of people have: "it's dangerous, someone else should do it".

@Dreadnaught396 well blame the liberals but why buy a AH1 super cobra that cost 10.7 million US with Anti-tank missiles costing 68k US and Hydra 70 rockets costing at least 1000 dollars a rocket when fighting un armoured insurgents witch trucks sometimes when you can buy a cheaper Griffon that can do the job just as good also if you have not moved to the UK yet you need to become and citizen of the UK to join the military witch in canada that takes 3 years not worth to me

@couchpatato384 we also need a higher population. i was listening to CBC Radio and they were talking about how getting out population to 100 million would improve jobs and stuff, but also our military will be a lot stronger. They say right now that they would rather have 1 Canadian soldier over 6 American soldiers because we have to be trained harder and smarter due to our low popluation. Imagine if our numbers were doubled but kept the training.
