I'm reading "Hero Found", the Bruce Henderson book about Dengler's escape. Can't put it down. Very sad to learn Dieter passed away in 2001.

I can't help but feel humbled by Dengler's tenacity; surviving in post-war Germany and in the jungles of Laos.

For that matter, I am humbled by all our fallen service members and those who lived but won't ever be whole again. God bless them all.
