Poor attempt at being wanna-be Orthodox. I've met Uniates who are far more convincing than this. At least then they didn't pretend they were Tibetan Buddhists as well.
Nice job of judging an entire congregation's spiritual life on the basis of 3 minutes of video footage. Orthodoxy is about philoxenia, not xenophobia. As for the liturgical embellishments - this goes beyond anything I have ever seen in High Epsicopal culture. Bravo. Bravo.
It's a convenient thing to label my comment as xenophobia and then carry on. I'm sure everyone is 'close with God' there, but that doesn't refute the fact that - according to this video, and other videos I've seen, and the website of the church - that St. Gregory of Nyssa Episcopal Church is intensely syncretistic.
Well said. The liturgical umbrellas are a tradition from the Ethiopian church, which were brought into the service to honor the traditions of Ethiopian members.
Just read about St. Gregory's last week in Sara Mile's book, "Take This Bread: A Radical Conversion." I think she's in this video announcing the open communion. The book's descriptions made me curious to visit the church. This video has nice production values, it makes me want to visit in person. (Only problem is that I'm 1000 miles away.)

Guess what? When you die and are raised up, I bet you dollars to donuts Jesus Christ will have one thing to say to you:
"Poor attempt at being wanna-be Orthodox."
At least, compared to Him.
