hmm i don't get it uhh was every ecw episode on tnn like this? I never saw it so i really don't know. I mean did they just show matches from like shows that they had? This kinda reminds me of like WWF live wire you know with michael cole just showing what happen on raw. I mean was it like this? or did they actually have like a wrestling program where they are live and they just show complete matches without them showing joey styles? o_o
This was the worst episode of the TNN run; they gave away most of the "Anarchy Rulz" PPV from the week before on free TV and exploited the death of Louie Spicolli while showing an unstable Tammy Sytch in front of a national audience.
Here's the thing about this portion of Tammy's interview,Heyman was well-aware of the drug issues in his own locker room. Hell, you could argue that he welcomed it. Tammy was a junky-mess at this time. For Heyman to propose this interview as "the ultimate shoot" in a time of shoots is absurd. You're condemning your own product on your own show. You're putting a junkie on TV to say, "we're all junkies in this business." This wasn't ahead of its time, this hurt ECW more than it ever helped.
It's my oppinion that many wrestling promotions believe ECW and the few imitations like it(XPW, CZW) failed to make it to the big time because of the violence and the like. Even knowing, all of the above mentioned companies bombed because of Paul E, Rob Black, & John Zandig; ie the owners of the respective companies. The talent and fans where there, but the owners where too self absorbed and too stubbern to really promote the product in the correct way, not needing to change the presentation.
I actually agree with about 99% of that. The one part we differ on is that I feel those promotions did or would like to promote more but they don't have the funding.Even TNA would like to promote more but they don't feel like spending the money. Jarrett is a smart business man and as part of the TNA/Spike deal,Spike has to advertise for TNA a certain amount. A deal Heyman didnt make with the same network (TNN then).Yet TNA still manages to grow at amazing rates without much promotion.
well i dont know about the others, but for ECW, it wasnt about the promotion.. people knew from newyork to LA wat ECW was in the usa.. It was mainly the financial situation and how Paul didnt trust anyone.. Paul was doing ALL the work.. they say it pretty clearly in teh rise and fall of ECW..
ECW & WWE always had a working relationship together. ECW did appear on Raw before. Plus Vince felt bad for taking some of their talent. So to compensate, he allowed ECW to use WWE footage.
wow, i vaguely remember this episode of ecw on tnn. i say vaguely cus i don't even remember them talking about soma's. This was a pretty real topic that no other show was talking about.

They also put Heyman on the payroll to compensate him for the talent Vince was taking(i.e. Taz and the Dudleys).

Tammy is right. Roddy Piper is right too. Its insane how there have been alot of wrestlers who have died over the years well before the age of 40

see no offence to any fans but i don't think TNA or ROH have come anywhere near the standard of the original ECW.

TNA has their own standard.. Even though its not even close to ECW!! lol Least TNA lets the Fans know they are important :D

maybe cause they had a bit of a working relationship with them so maybe wwe decided not to be huge dicks about it.

yeah that could be it

True, they did help promote ECW with the original invasion in 1997.
Urvy1A 3 years ago
They did if you watch the rise and fall of ecw!!.. plus the ECW invasion on RAW...
