A nice honest video. As an atheist living with Christians, I've had the same frustrations, though I grew up without much talk of God as a kid. I just wanna understand why they believe, because it makes no sense to me.
Hi. I watched your video and I was wondering if you were still looking for answers. I read the comments that others had sent you over the past 10 months and even though some of them were true, I feel as though they may not have gone into enough detail. I am a christian and I have seen what God can do. I think I can help you understand what is going on. Please email me at jadaha1987@aol.com. Thankyou.!
Are you still interested in talking about these questions? I would like to answer them through a PM if you want to hear what I have to say. I want to do PM to avoid the "gottcha" dialogue.
I was brought up to believe in God, but it was like I was just accepting what my family was telling me. As i began to question things, I wondered if I ever really believed in God in the first place. I never really felt some feeling when I needed him or really never could link any occurrence to an incident as an "act of God." I too, have tried, but how can you make yourself believe in something that you just cant believe in? I really just try to be a good person and not dwell on it nowadays.
1. Repenting means to turn away from your sins. Saying you're sorry means nothing if your actions show that you are not sorry.
2. Can you get baptized without believing in God? Can you get married without meeting your wife?
3. About being filled with the Holy Spirit. Find God first.
The reason you cannot find God is because your sins have seperated you from God. Cry out to him, not just because you want something from him, but because you want to become what he wants.
@IndianaJesusfreak That is why very few people like you or takes you seriously. You judge people and claim to know things about them, even though you have never met them. You obnoxious bigot. Get off your none-existent high horse and stop preaching that you are better than those who do not share your beliefs.
@FrankieSayRelaxxx1 Where did I say I was better than anybody else? Everyone has sinned. Up until 2001 I was smoking an ounce of weed a week. I was doing other drugs (acid, cocaine, pills....), I was sleeping with married women. I was a mess. I realized I needed God. I repented, I told God I was tired of living like that. I asked him to forgive me, and he did. He helped me to get over my addictions and sins. I still mess up sometimes, but when I do I confess and ask forgiveness.
@IndianaJesusfreak Drugs and adultery? That can be fixed purely by secular means. I have never commited adultery or taken illegal drugs, and i don't plan to. Ever. I am an atheist and have been ever since I was 13. I am living, breathing proof that you don't need Christianity to stay off weed/acid/cocaine/pills/married women etc. By saying that this guy's sins were bad enough to have seperated him from God, while saying that yours have not, implies that ou think you are better.
@FrankieSayRelaxxx1 My sins did seperate me from God. Any sin seperates us from God. That is the whole reason Jesus came to Earth as a man. It's very probable that my sins were a lot worse than the guy in the video. They are probable worse than yours. But if we repent and ask forgiveness God will forgive them. It will be just as if we had never sinned. Jesus took our sins on himself so that we could take His righteousness and have it applied to our account.
@IndianaJesusfreak That's one of the major hipocrissies of Christians. They say that as atheists, we have no morals, as we do not believe in an afterlife there is apparently no point in being 'good' because they think that we think life is meaningless and that there are no repurcussions after we die. Yet the bible ITSELF teaches that you can do almost anything, no matter how bad, and you can do nothing more than just 'ask for forgiveness' and be 'forigven' again, with no repercussions.
The Holy Ghost is given by one who is in authority to bestow it. Those who receive this divine gift understand divine writ. The spirit gives us that warm feeling of hope, comfort, peace, and confidence; all by way of humility. Baptisms performed by one ordained of God are never replicated, only for those returning from ex-communication. Baptisms performed by those unauthorized carry no oath or covenant and are of men. These baptisms are a mockery to God.
In conclusion, there are answers to all your questions and you are surrounded by these answers every day. First you must have faith. Second, you must be repentant. A little child is not sorry for his misdeads at first but recognizes the disappointment on his father's face. In time, the child comes to be sorrowful about his or her sins as he or she matures. What do you care about being sorrowful about your sin, or being sorry to your God about sinning? You are as a child right now.
When you seek for answers from a minister, that minister is one who is in authority by man, not God. The minister most likely has the same questions you do since he or she is authorized to preach a gospel he or she knows little of. To those who lack understanding about how God operates and His priesthood that blesses the lives of His children, you look pretty cool asking these far out questions. To a servant of God, you lack faith and are well equiped to receive but do not care to do so.
You seem to need answers in a way that your Heavenly Father will not give. You've probably read James 1:5 many times only to expect and answer to be given according to you calendar; not God's. You want divine intervention but solicit the temporal, not spiritual. The gift of the Holy Ghost can only be given by one who is in authority to act in place of God, not be a God but act as his authorized ordained servant. That line of priesthood can be traced back to Christ himself and back to Adam.
Fortunately, you have a lot of the answers yet you seek the advice of men. Your request to have answers "flowing in" shows your lack of faith. The reason most men don't have visions of angels is that the vision would not strengthen their faith. The affect of the vision is like talking about a dream that never comes true. You talk about it and get all excited for the moment but after the moment, the excitement goes away and you continue on the same path never getting closer to acheiving.
The ten commandments is the mirror you need. You need to see who you REALLY are and who God is. Have you ever lusted over a woman and wanted to have sexual intercourse with her? Have you ever placed an object, hobby, person, or anything more than God? I cannot say everything here, so please message me if you can.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." This is how I came to know God. But to help answer your question, Hebrews 4:2 says, “We also had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not combine it with faith.”
his help without even knowing who he was. We might not know at the present time what the heck is going on, but God has a specific plan for each of us. 2 Corinthians 4:17: “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” Although my dad left, my Heavenly Father never did. God was there the entire time, I just couldn’t see it. Deuteronomy 31:8: “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
There is a man named Joseph in the Bible who was sold into slavery by his brothers and had to deal with the feelings of that situation. When I was young my dad left me and my mom and sisters. When he left, I felt alone, unwanted and unloved. A lot like Joseph, I was wondering where was the God that was supposed to protect me and love me and my mom and sisters? What had I done to deserve this? But God had a plan for Joseph, and eventually Joseph was placed in high esteem and his brothers came for
The answer is this, NO ONE CAN FIND GOD! This is because god either does not exist, or is not a being that is concerned with the morality or existence of humanity. Everyone who says that they have found god, has been brainwashed into finding truth in fiction. Otherwise, how can you find truth in something that has absolutely NO supporting evidence?
@boydowninhouston What caused every little existing thing to become what it is? Did it came just by happenstance? The very DNA in our own blood has enough data that could reach hundreds times than the height of Earth. There has to be some kind of intellectual mind behind this. He has chosen to blind men from His ways, He wills what he wills.
@PopcornMawn "He has chosen to blind men from his ways"? How convenient. It's funny that you attribute the existence of things you cannot explain to god, only because you cannot explain them. You remind me of ancient people who attributed heavy storms to the wrath of god, only because they had no concept of meteorology. And the ancient people who attributed the crop growth to god, only because they had no concept of cultivation. If your fantasy "GOD" has blinded anyone, it is you.
@boydowninhouston Here's a couple of questions. What is truth? What makes it true? Where does logic come from? And what determines the validity of your own logic? Be honest. Is there any evidence that would satisfy you into converting or are you going to believe what YOU want to believe? If you are, then why waste your time on the computer for a fruitless endeavor? Why debate when I could throw out that there is evidence that chariot wheels are in the Red Sea and you still object it?
@PopcornMawn The only thing that could make me "convert," would be if the sky cracked open and god himself reached his arm through. Otherwise, all of the flimsy, mentally manipulative, and proofless claims of religion have about as much influence on my concept of existence as the babbling slurs of a retarded street bum. I know what truth is. I have found truth and PROOF in science. I was raised in a christian home. When grew old and wise and searched for truth in religion, I found none.
Another thing, even if there was a god, I would never worship it. If god created me as a sinner, in a world of sin, and expected me to resist my intelligence and devote my entire life to following a blind path, I would tell him to fuck off.
you answer your own question immediately------AGENT OF DOUBT, when you decide to be sincere and stop expecting, you will see, God has proven himself to me many times.. I can write a book, but I believe in him with no doubt, he cannot be fooled, as you grow in him, get to know him, through prayer and study of the Bible KJV he will reveal more of himself to you, just like most relationships. feel free to watch my video."Calling all Atheist" or any other... much love j
I'd like to ask you a question instead. Why are you looking about becoming a Christian? It sounds from the end of the video that you just want to be closer to family and friends. I understand that can be tough; my family took a while to accept that I'm an atheist. You say your family and friends don't accept you for being honest about what you believe. That sounds like a character flaw with them, so why should you be the one who changes? More importantly, why should you lie to please that flaw?
@lgbuzals You cannot change your family, but maybe you can change your friends. Have you looked for any social groups for freethinkers/atheists/agnostics/etc in your area? It really seems to me like you are doing this to please others and conform when you should perhaps be celebrating diversity in thinking instead. You seem to be finding fault in yourself when you should just be happy with who you are. I think it is time you stand up for yourself and say "This is who I am. Please accept that!"
you are repenting because you are human and make mistakes in witch you know are wrong and would like to be forgiven thus the concept of prayer everyday since we sin everyday we pray and not just repent but talk to him as a caring friend not only as a almighty god even though he is
Yes, logically you have to believe God exists first or acknowledge Him. How could you honestly carry out the rest if you didn't believe in a sense? Repent - Change of mind. You acknowledge you are the wicked sinner that God proclaims you are to be in the Bible. You are praying for forgiveness and mercy for breaking God's Moral Law. Baptism nor any work you do gets you into heaven, only repentance and faith in Jesus does. If you are looking for Jesus carnally (5 senses), you will not find him.
Ends all is that you must live by Faith in order to feel the spirit. Hope + Faith and then listening + following. You'll be led and gain testimony if not immediately then maybe over years. I think the God you want to find is the absolute undeniable kind. The God I think I know gives manifestations to those who have already given themselves to his path. Which means you have Faith in him for your ultimate [fill in the blank with something positive]
@angelmarauder Pretty much, the Christian God (if he exists which I don't doubt too often) has created a Life that requires you to fight for salvation or purpose in the logical reasonable world with reliance on a mystery that can't be defined and centered on because if there WAS a path that was definable and could be easily formulated, then the whole world would probably have a little red book that tells us the path to the perfect life. Of course....that leads to "What a bunch of crock..."
@angelmarauder "WhyTF would I follow some dogma. NO EVIDENCE." To which there is supposed to be the answer of 'testimony' or 'being saved'. It's supposed to afford you a tether to the whole idea. And the Spirit would bring you this gift.
Well that seems right to me. Anyways....live your best. Seek God when you feel like it. When logic fails the believers, then find their logical flaws and try moving with it on your own...then move on. Keep searching and don't close off. riiiight.
atheists from 20 years ago use to say, "if there is a god, it's me".
as Deepac Chopra might answer "yes, exactly".
from a Buddhist point if view"if you meet the Buddha along the road kill him".
I think to ask Christ into your heart means to read the stories and apply them to your own heart, and in the process you understand the metaphors and begin to accept the chaos of life with some sense of structure.
@AfterFauve001 Your answer is one of the more unique ones that I've seen, and I'm looking for that. Over the lifespan of this video I'm sure I'm gonna get a lot of sheep just reiterating the same things that gave me the questions in the first place, but answers like yours feed new thoughts and are very much appreciated.
well the other thing the shepherds don't tell any potential flock is that the proses of such discovery can be very difficult painful and definitely terrifying.
I disbelieve many sheep because I seriously doubt they know the ideology their religion is supposedly based on.
most have the idea in there head that the spiritual journey is a pleasant boat ride, who's captain is a magic Genie that negates the nature of the world we live in.
@violentlygraceful It definitely felt different making this video than my other videos. The guy I am for the camera was a lot more like the real me. ...the real me I don't let anyone see actually. The frustration was really getting to me that day. Charles mirrored the vid, other people asked for the text of the letter, and now it has Christopher's accolades. Now I just need a flood of ANSWERS to roll in and I'll be okay the next time the frustration starts to get to me...
1-Peter was talking to people who already believed in the God of the O.T. Yes believing is needed.2-repent means more than just being or saying sorry, it means being sorry and making your BEST attempt to not repeat the err,EVER.3- the spirit is not an all or nothing thing, it comes in degrees according to FAITH,and knowledge.I see i will run out of space ,so I suggest watching Charles Stanley vids here and reading the N.T.. this will answer MOST of your questions.
NUMBER ONE: Get Saved. Its about knowing that you are a sinner and then ask Jesus Christ yourself to forgive you of them sins and believe that He died on the cross and shed all of His blood for you and that God raised Him from the dead 3 days later.
NUMBER TWO: Get Baptized. The very first step in obedience.
NUMBER THREE: Get in the Word. Start in John or maybe Proverbs. Join a local church and worship with other Christians. I got saved 7.22.10 that has three days ago at our Youth Camp.
In this video, you have quite literally in a nutshell described my exact feelings and, indeed, life history as an uncertain & unsure seeker of truth. i have one request from you which I hope you will agree to. Please may I have a copy of that letter that you wrote to Pastor Jack? It's superb! It mouths exactly what I've been asking & pondering over all my life. Thank you for this post.
I have some of these same questions. With your permission of course first.... id like to mirror with a link to your channel, maybe you'll get some new subs.
@AbusiveAntitheist Permission granted. This particular video was so emotionally taxing that I spent 2 days thinking about it and trying to calm down enough to do it. The letter had been burning a hole in my desktop background for a week after I sent it and I knew I had to do something bigger with it.
Also, you can't find God in good things happening to you by chance or the beauty of the world, because that's just interpreting the evidence to fit a conclusion you've already decided upon, and only really works if you already believe in God. Regardless, you don't need religion to be happy or accepted, so if you're sceptical, don't feel you have to conform.
That was one of the most touching videos I've ever seen. As an atheist myself, I assure you, I'm not f**king with you. Obviously from my viewpoint, the reasons why most of those questions haven't been answered is because there are no answers. Religion doesn't make any sense under any kind of logical scrutiny. Therefore, you shouldn't get your hopes up for any of the answers to be satisfying. Whether or not the church requires it, there's no point becoming a Christian if you don't believe in God.
I think your desire to feel closer to your family is one of the many reasons that people stick with the faith rather than to think for themselves. It's easier that way. These are some very good questions and I'm looking forward to read some of the answers...if there are any aside from the usual "you just gotta have faith" bullshit.
Faith is the suspension of disbelief. My interpretation of faith and this feeling they speak of, the only way I can interpret it is as follows. Think about ones self going along, and coming up with an idea, or an opportunity comes up. To use an example, say getting a very good job out of the blue that hasn't entered your thoughts that you didn't even realise you wanted, but suddenly you can do it. That happiness, positivity, hope for the future.
@Pushtrak A feeling of belonging, or purpose that is intended for everyone. The fact that not everyone gets it isn't something that lets them down, they try to convert others to get this feeling they have. In the case of religion, it is really an "I am important" that is coming from a false reality. It can negate the achievements of the person on a personal level and is used as a beacon for those when things don't go so well.

Ok. Myself. When You are a Christian when you start believing in God.
My steps to do so.
Read the Bible, That will pretty much tell you what to do. It's God's word that is supposed to bring you towards the feeling of doing good.
When you start believing you want to follow the ten commandments. that gets you started on what He wants you to do.
When you accept the holy spirit into your heart. You're basicly asking him to come into your life and help you Live better.
Trust me, Life is easier after

I can write a book, but I believe in him with no doubt, he cannot be fooled, as you grow in him, get to know him, through prayer and study of the Bible KJV he will reveal more of himself to you, just like most relationships. feel free to watch my video."Calling all Atheist" or any other... much love j

Hey brother...GREAT VIDEO!!! I am makin you a video, and will answer to the best of my ability..ok...

More importantly, why should you lie to please that flaw?
lgbuzals 1 year ago
@lgbuzals You cannot change your family, but maybe you can change your friends. Have you looked for any social groups for freethinkers/atheists/agnostics/etc in your area? It really seems to me like you are doing this to please others and conform when you should perhaps be celebrating diversity in thinking instead. You seem to be finding fault in yourself when you should just be happy with who you are. I think it is time you stand up for yourself and say "This is who I am. Please accept that!"
lgbuzals 1 year ago
you are repenting because you are human and make mistakes in witch you know are wrong and would like to be forgiven thus the concept of prayer everyday since we sin everyday we pray and not just repent but talk to him as a caring friend not only as a almighty god even though he is
mathew555s 1 year ago
Yes, logically you have to believe God exists first or acknowledge Him. How could you honestly carry out the rest if you didn't believe in a sense? Repent - Change of mind. You acknowledge you are the wicked sinner that God proclaims you are to be in the Bible. You are praying for forgiveness and mercy for breaking God's Moral Law. Baptism nor any work you do gets you into heaven, only repentance and faith in Jesus does. If you are looking for Jesus carnally (5 senses), you will not find him.

Also,
Religion prevents one from having there own spiritual experience.

Chuch Norris beard FTW.
Which means you have Faith in him for your ultimate [fill in the blank with something positive]
angelmarauder 1 year ago
@angelmarauder Pretty much, the Christian God (if he exists which I don't doubt too often) has created a Life that requires you to fight for salvation or purpose in the logical reasonable world with reliance on a mystery that can't be defined and centered on because if there WAS a path that was definable and could be easily formulated, then the whole world would probably have a little red book that tells us the path to the perfect life. Of course....that leads to "What a bunch of crock..."
angelmarauder 1 year ago
@angelmarauder "WhyTF would I follow some dogma. NO EVIDENCE." To which there is supposed to be the answer of 'testimony' or 'being saved'. It's supposed to afford you a tether to the whole idea. And the Spirit would bring you this gift.
Well that seems right to me. Anyways....live your best. Seek God when you feel like it. When logic fails the believers, then find their logical flaws and try moving with it on your own...then move on. Keep searching and don't close off. riiiight.

from my point of view, as a spiritualist/pagan.
atheists from 20 years ago use to say, "if there is a god, it's me".
as Deepac Chopra might answer "yes, exactly".
from a Buddhist point if view"if you meet the Buddha along the road kill him".
I think to ask Christ into your heart means to read the stories and apply them to your own heart, and in the process you understand the metaphors and begin to accept the chaos of life with some sense of structure.
how to do that is up to the individual.

AgentOfDoubt 1 year ago
well the other thing the shepherds don't tell any potential flock is that the proses of such discovery can be very difficult painful and definitely terrifying.
I disbelieve many sheep because I seriously doubt they know the ideology their religion is supposedly based on.
most have the idea in there head that the spiritual journey is a pleasant boat ride, who's captain is a magic Genie that negates the nature of the world we live in.

Yes excellent job! I did a video some time back . It's not an answer but something that annoys me. I'll send it in as a response.

I think this the best video you've made, and one of the best videos I've seen on this subject on YouTube. Seriously...
violentlygraceful 1 year ago

Hello,
I recently subscribed to your channel.

@belwoodzzzz Although in the video I added a few questions at the end, the original letter to Jack is in the description box.

@AgentOfDoubt currently uploading ;D I hope the audio comes out ok

JackChristmas2 1 year ago 2
I think your desire to feel closer to your family is one of the many reasons that people stick with the faith rather than to think for themselves. It's easier that way. These are some very good questions and I'm looking forward to read some of the answers...if there are any aside from the usual "you just gotta have faith" bullshit.
TheDoctorWhoNerd 1 year ago
Faith is the suspension of disbelief. My interpretation of faith and this feeling they speak of, the only way I can interpret it is as follows. Think about ones self going along, and coming up with an idea, or an opportunity comes up. To use an example, say getting a very good job out of the blue that hasn't entered your thoughts that you didn't even realise you wanted, but suddenly you can do it. That happiness, positivity, hope for the future.
In religious terms, its an optimism.
Pushtrak 1 year ago
@Pushtrak A feeling of belonging, or purpose that is intended for everyone. The fact that not everyone gets it isn't something that lets them down, they try to convert others to get this feeling they have. In the case of religion, it is really an "I am important" that is coming from a false reality. It can negate the achievements of the person on a personal level and is used as a beacon for those when things don't go so well.
