You can put a cap over the end of it or seal the cap with masking tape when not in use.

My laser looks pretty much exactly like the viper but the front cap is not removable so I can only clean the lens through the aperture hole, When i shine the laser theres a is a dot and a bit of scattering around that with a faint what looks like a drip mark. How can I go about cleaning the lens?

I gave you video response of my 30mW laser. It has been in my closet about 2 weeks now, without lens. So under the lens there is that very tiny green square piece. About 0.2mm. I don't know what happened. Without the lens - there comes out a big circle green light. And when I attach the lens (and focus it) there is hundreds of green little dots and light around the primary dot. It's not pod modded ;-P

Hello dragon lasers I purchased my v95 today and after messing around with it for a few hours I started to turn it on once in a while after a minute of using it there was a big blur around the dot lof the laser like its starting to turn into a flashlight. Is this a dirty lens because it didnt happen over time? Please help me before it gets worse

@FPSBass If the lens is clean but the beam shape is still strange, you have two possible problems/solutions. First make sure the batteries are new or fully charged. Second make sure the laser is not over heating or too cold.

Oh, well I've done the legendary pot' mod. Maybe that could be the answer? I mean, when I keep the laser on more than a minute, the whole diode and housing gets warm = over heating?

@FPSBass Pot mod? Say no more. Pot mods generally destroy lasers so if yours si still working, you are lucky.

Man you should see the resistor... It should be orange/yellow, but it's half-black! And the whole circuit board smells like burned...

It's pot modded to maximum. It should be 5mW and it's brighter than 15mW !!

The button on my 95mW Viper has gotten very unresponsive, so I have to push uncomfortably hard to get it to turn on. So I was wondering if there was any way to fix this? Thanks

@dragonlasers well its just a cheap 5mw green laser from amazon all i know is output and wavelength its 5mw and wavelength 532nm its a dimple style i dont think its possible to fix since its pretty hard to take apart and not sure if its possible

Very difficult. Normally you need to return your laser to the seller/manufacturer.

For some lasers, you can order a replacement lens from Dragonlasers.

@dragonlasers Call me an major idiot, but I tried some (as pure as I had) alcohol. Very little though, and took cotton (made sure there were no hard/ruff partials in it) and rubbed VERY lightly in a circular motion. Though I would not recommend it to anyone, as you too said, but It's all I had and was seriously careful and easy with it. Though I think pure alcohol should be *fine* in small amounts if it's pure and doesn't have other things in it. Ill get me a lens cleaner soon though!

With my laser I was melting electrical tape. The smoke got into the laser and now it looks terrible. I blew air on it several times and it didn't work. It seems the more I try to clean it, the worse it gets. The laser projects spots every where.

Most tools/brushes from lens cleaning kits can be used. Avoid Q tips and similar tools that are not specifically for lens because you can damage the lens.

Normally the only way to loosen a button is to gently move it back (by nudging/wriggling) into position if it has slipped.

Other wise it is a repair job.

I got a lens cleaner but its just the brush. I use the brush and compressed air but it doesnt get cleaned. Anything from home that is like your pad on the lens pen?

Ok, I just used a can of compressed gas duster(meant for computers though) and it left a coat of residue all over the lens. So maybe compressed gas duster isn't the best choice. I might have to order a lens pen.

You can. You just need to remove the lens shutter which can be tricky.

If you do not have a professional lens cleaner like a lens pen, a good alternative is cotton buds moistened with a few drops of lens cleaning fluid.

Be careful because you can easily damage the lens.

Another great way to clean a lens is to use a q tip and rubbing alcohol and get the alcohol on the q tip and barely touch it to the lens and then let it dry. Since rubbing alcohol evaporates quickly it is real quick and easy.

Sometimes the lens cover can get jammed. You can use a set of pliers to "GENTLY" unscrew the lens cover.

Try covering the lens cover with a cloth to prevent scratching it when you use the pliers.

Reflected light is a problem when the laser is pointed away and you are high by the reflected beam.

Depending on the power of the laser, the range and how much of the beam is reflected, it is possible to seriously injure your eyes.

The more practical uses for lasers are astronomy, pointing at things (surverys, engineers), alignment, laser displays/shows, scaring birds, fluid/chemical analysis, non lethal deterrent etc etc

You normally need at least 50-55mW before you can burn anything. Range depends on conditions such as pollution and humidity. With a 30mW laser, you should have at least a range of 1-2 kilometers at night.

Possibly. Power loss though is often due to the diode being damaged or a decrease in the efficiency of the lasers crystals.

Cleaning the lens would rarely be necessary, especially if you keep the lens shutter closed when not in use.

Try using rubbing alcohol and a q tip. Get the q tip wet with rubbing alcohol and barely rub it against the lens then let dry that should get rid of the grainy particals around your dot. I say this because i had the same problem.

Mode shifting has nothing to do with cleaning the lens. If the laser is not faulty, it is often caused by flat batteries or high/low temperature.

You can tell the lens is dirty when the beam point is cloudy and has an uneven halo instead of a small clean halo.

The lens is the glass covering the entrance where the beam is projected. You can see it at 1:09

my dad has an air compressing like a massive machine and it is very powerful like it would blow a plastic cup out of ur hand would that brake the laser/lens, do u recomend using that method(i havent tried it yet)
