Ron, I didn't think of it before, but it could be that this bird is defending a nest and thinks that its own reflection is an intruder. Birds will do that, sometimes they will break their necks running into mirrors and windows. You might want to try hanging a curtain for a while. Usually baby birds grow up and leave in a couple of weeks.
I would bet that this bird was fed by someone (as a nestling), then released. Poor thing, it was probably used to being inside a house and now it doesn't know it is a bird. It probably thinks you've got something good to eat in there.
This is exactly what happens to me! that's so wierd! LOL! dumb bird!

i have cardinals here and they do that they are very territorial.... Or maybe he is just trying to get the keys to your vette :D
