  • Steve and Eric replace Jim Henson and Frank Oz, they almost have the same voices

  • Nice!

  • Antelope!!! ATTITUDE!!!

  • what there puppets lol

  • Wow. I have never seen this.

  • @ForSunny2 me neither

  • Being a puppeteer looks very uncomfortable.

  • @SepherStar Well I hear that Dave Goalez (Who's one of the Muppeteers) said about that to have your arm up in the air a long time really hurts.

  • @SepherStar It is, even Caroll Spinney (Big Bird and Oscar) once said if you're comfortable while puppeteering, you're doing it wrong, lol. But aside from all that, it's a lot of fun!

  • @astud218 Yes, that is Matt as Ernie's drumming hands, I really love the behind the scenes stuff, maybe this is why they left the Muppeteers unconcealed when they did Avenue Q

  • @muppetlover16

    You mean Matt Vogel, right?

  • @MrMetalmanRock Yes, it's Matt Vogel, also is it just me or does Matt Vogel look kinda like Lin-Manuel Miranda now?

  • @muppetlover16

    I'm not sure about that.

  • @MrMetalmanRock Lin-Manuel Miranda was a guest on Sesame Street in episode #4187 (Frankly, it's Becoming a Habitat) where he played Flychert Real Estate agent Freddie Flapman, and I swear he looks exactly like Matt Vogel, look at the two and tell me you don't see a resemblance

  • @muppetlover16

    I didn't know that.

  • These pigs have been filling their coffers with tons of cash for the last 40 years. All those stations are paid for by OUR tax money. They had the nerve to call us thieves, if did not donate to PBS, but they sure dont have a problem with buying up all the good seats for a concert and then rape you and me for 800 bucks a ticket.

  • "HE never talks to me" LMBO

  • that must be hard...

  • someone pleeeeeeeeeeeease! upload the entire documentery

  • TELLY: Hey Bert! Bert? He never talks to me.

    ERNIE: *Dejectedly* Yeah...

    TELLY: Hey Ernie!

    ERNIE: Hi Telly!

  • @GroverKent I always wondered what Ernie would sound like if he were performed by Artie Esposito or Rick Lyon, to me he'd probably the same, what do you think GroverKent?

  • @muppetlover16 I'm not sure, Rick Lyon's vocal work seems few and far between compared to his actual puppetry work; Artie Esposito on the other hand, I haven't seen any of the footage, but he was criticized to no end for doing a terrible job performing Kermit in place of Steve Whitmire for some appearance, which is a little insensitive, considering those are some big shoes to fill playing Kermit... Steve had trouble even trying Kermit on for weeks after Jim died.

  • @GroverKent Yeah, but on the subject of Rick Lyon, I think he could've at least substituted for Steve, I mean he has the voice down pat, just listen to Nicky from Avenue Q, that's Steve's Ernie all over, also why couldn't he have done Kermit for that appearance instead of Artie Esposito? if he did Kermit in Kermit, Prince of Denmark (which unfortunately was never produced) he certainly should've done Kermit there and puppet-wise he only did background roles and filled in for main characters

  • @muppetlover16 Well, who's to say? Even back in the day, Jim liked to keep certain performers separate from other projects, maybe there's still that bit of practice today... personally, I think even David Rudman could handle Kermit or Ernie after hearing him as Pete Cratchett in The Muppet Christmas Carol; I was really happy to see David (and Matt Vogel) in the new movie, as it's been a while since he's been involved with a non-SST Muppet project.

  • @GroverKent David Rudman as Ernie? That'd be something to see, but I think he's better off with Richard Hunt's characters, he has Scooter and Janice down to a T, and I think he does a phenomenal job as Wayne (of Wayne and Wanda)

  • @muppetlover16 What did you think of Miss Poogy? I thought he did great with "her"; and Matt Vogel actually did pretty well with Floyd and Uncle Deadly, though I thought Lew Zealand was a little off.

  • @GroverKent Miss Poogy was terrific, and actually John Kennedy did Floyd not Matt

  • @muppetlover16 You sure about that? I don't recall seeing John's name during the credits for that matter, and I think other sources have cited Matt as Floyd, but I guess I should look through all the notes again.

  • @GroverKent Watch the trailer it's definitely John Kennedy especially when he says "Do you think we should've rented a bigger car?"

  • @muppetlover16 Well then, there's either one of two things going on here: either there was some kind of clerical error that credited Matt as Floyd instead of John, or John might have dubbed the dialogue in the trailer, like how Eric seemed to have dubbed Fozzie and Piggy's dialogue in the Muppets From Space trailers, even though Frank was clearly in the movie.

  • @GroverKent Actually Peter Linz performed Miss Piggy and Fozzie, not Eric, and I'm certain John was doing Floyd in the Muppets trailer

  • They aren't muppets though...

  • @WoWFREAK1336 Ya The Sesame street puppets are muppets

  • Wot? I thought muppets were real.... fuck you for destroying my belief

  • Steve Whitmire forever!

  • ernie looks cute!

  • Ernie=Thug Life

  • Ernie saying "Awww rats!" would be awsome!!!!!

  • 2:10 Bert is staring into your soul.

  • @PsycadelicShack I would like to see the whole thing if you still have the link??

  • It's great to see that they have fun with this! :)

  • @MusicLover366 That's true!

  • If only I knew when I was little that ll those puppets were controlled my grown men.

  • Steve whitmire looks uncomfortable in that position....this is a pretty cool clip though...I'd like to see the whole thing

  • Grew up watching the muppets. Now my son does. I hope they keep these characters going forever!

  • @PsycadelicShack Could you send me the link? I'd love to see the whole documentary. Thankx :)

  • @jokester1111 I believe that the cameras crop their feet.

  • so it takes 2 people 2 control these things

  • On 1:11, It looks like a sesame street blooper!!!!!!

  • "alright, rats uh...FLATS!" ROFL

  • The woman performing Telly's right hand is Pam Arciero, who performs Grungetta the Grouch. Matt Vogel is performing Ernie's hands, Matt performs Big Bird sometimes when Carroll Spinney is unable to.

  • "He never talks to me." lol

  • Sweet! Check out our music video FOLLOW ME ON TWITTA!!

  • interesting

  • cool...

  • wowie, i'd love to do this for a career!

  • animal attitude. lmao lmao

  • i thought ernie was goin to say oh s*&t!! wen he messed up

  • lol

  • my fucking mind is blown

  • my thoughts exactly

  • I like how Marty Robinson has Telly say hello to Bert.

    Hey Bert!

    Hey Telly.

Bert? ...He never talks to me, hey Ernie!

    I also like 1:10 and 2:12.

  • I would like a link. :3

  • OMG! AMAZING! I am so happy that they are keeping them alive. I really like Steve's voices and I feel like i have known them all my whole life.

  • I want the link to the full documentary please

  • marty robinson has a long ass head

  • That was amazing!!!

  • Hello ! could you please email the link to the entire doco ! many thanks !

  • It's fun to see the puppetiers get some good laughs from time to time on the set of Sesame Street.

  • They always have fun when they do anything that has puppets/Muppets. Have you heard of the story that when Jim, Frank and a few other guys had to do theese recordings at theese awful times (like 2:30am), and when everyone was so tired, when someone made a fluff a line, one would chuckle, then another, then another, until everyone (apart from the sound engerneers) would be laughing for a good 20 minutes! Who said being in this type of work wasn't fun?

  • Who is operating the rest of Ernie? Plus, don't you just find it amusing when well-known Muppets are seen unused? :-)

  • I think Matt Vogel's performing Ernie's hands.

  • I'm sure you're right, because I wasn't paying attention to what the performer looked like.

  • It look 's like Bert is staring off into space at 2:11

  • Do you have more clips from this documentary? By the way, Sesame Street's first episode premiered in November of 1969, not July!

  • Ditto, more please!!!

  • Look at Bert at 2:11, it's strange to see him "dead"!

  • its amazing how the muppets they seem so...alive! and, then when they stop doing the scene they like.. Die. its like watching robots or somethin'!

  • send me the link

  • Ernie lols better than anyone.

  • can some one explain why does they wear a weldingbound? (the thing on the head) ^^

  • I think Steve and Eric have been excellent taking over for Jim and Frank, they sound perfect to me!

I love watching behind the scenes for Muppet stuff, is this one on dvd?

  • helloo PsycadelicShack. ty 4 posting this kool clip. like u said, can I have the link to the whole documentry plz? ty sooo much. I loove Seseme Street.

  • These are nice small sets.

  • Steve Whitmire rules!

  • this was on the history channel!!!

  • Really? Cool!

  • That is truly amazing even thought i see whats going on i still believe ernie and telly, then the guy holding burt on the left burt looks like he is just standing around WOW

  • wow i always wanted to see whats happening behind the tv show on pbs kids

  • Steve does a great job as Kermit and Ernie, however Jim was the heart and soul behind the characters. No one can replace Jim, but the puppeteers such as Steve keep Jim Henson's Muppets alive. :)

  • can i have the link???

  • that was kool thax for posting!!!

  • that was cool! thanks for posting!

  • "All you need , Telly, is a word that rhymes with... aww rats! Ah"

    "Rats, uh... flats!"

    That was funny!

  • That's my favorite part!

  • Mine too! Even the Muppets have screw-ups every now and then. By the way, they can kick Barney's ass.

  • Steve Whitmire is good as Ernie Jim Henson's Ernie and Kermit were too deep thats why for me Kermti/Ernie will always be Steve Whitmire

  • Steve for me, will always be Rizzo the Rat.

  • Mind if I asked for the link? That show is worth watching, judging by the clip you've posted!

  • But the people who knew Henson, said that Rolf the Dog was closer to who Jim Henson actually was.

  • I do remember this episode. I hope I still have it taped. Let me see.

  • Happy 38th Aniversary Sesame Street! The show premiered on Nov 10,1969. And God Bless Muppet King Jim Henson- May he always rest in peace in heaven. He was the very gifted Muppet performer who 1st brought Ernie to life on Sesame Street in it's early beginnings!

  • Happy Early 4oth Aniversary Sesame Street!

  • I wish the whole documentary would be uploaded. Steve Whitmire does a better job as Ernie than Kermit.

  • Ernie is easier than Kermit. Strange but true. I guess there's more enthusiasm and less subtlety in Ernie.

  • Awesome! thanks for upload it. :)

I think muppeters are veri talented people.

  • This was really fun to watch. I enjoyed it. I wish there where more on youtube.
