  • I have been listening to "Superstition" on a variety of radio stations including K-earth 101.1 and 94.7 The Wave.

  • I was an 8 year old white kid growing up in Jersey and the first time I saw him perform this I was blown away. The guy is just ultra talented, played most if not all instruments on his studio songs and spun hit after hit to all audiences. Today, everything is recycled garbage. Gotta get these kids back to music school!!!

  • I read that this song almost wasn't a hit. This song was written for Jeff Beck, but Berry Gordy intervened at the eleventh hour and got Stevie's version released. Does this sound familiar?

  • This song is just tooo sick, just the bass line and horns blow me away! Stevie could have just played and not sund and this song would rock! TOOO COOL!

  • Just stopped by for my daily funk fix...

  • Does anyone besides me remember him performing this on Sesame Street sometime in the seventies? He had a full band with horn section and kids for an audience.

  • @thespotrocks I heard that fact after listening to "Superstition" on 94.7 The Wave.

  • @thespotrocks he also sang ABC'S 123'S,with horn section RARE EARTH( IF ANYONE REMEMBER THEM, WHITE BLOWS COULD BLOW!)

  • my 13 year old self would called you names for this, my 15 year old self jams to it :L

  • Wonderful

  • baddasssss base!!!

  • @marroxelica I know right!! Bass is how it's spelled but that's okay because you're absolutely right :D.

  • The debate rages on, Stevies music up til ''songs in the key of life'' and his music

after. To my way of thinking there was no slide downhill, merely a direction shift.

His life experiences, his personal feelings about what he was going thru at the time these things help to shape what would be his music direction. To me, even today a new Stevie Wonder release is an event. He does not have to try to reinvent himself, wear crazy wild costumes, etc to try and remain current or relevant,

  • a benchmark in music

  • Best Stevie Wonder song ever. Of course, dozens of his other songs come very close.

  • As Stevie Wonder is only marginally older than me I kinda grew up with his songs and when Key of life came out in 72 I was blown away. Then there was more and more of what Stevie Wonder could do as he developed as an artist in his own right without the influence of others who thought they new best. His work has become iconic of the 70's and I just love it

  • @bellabellacharlie : he truly is just like wine; he gets better with age when it comes to music.

  • how in the fuck did he sell his soul in the 80's? Must have got his sight back for his soul...

  • all his stuff up to and including this was good but, soon the slide would begin with the boring 'songs in the key of life'.

  • @donkiddick08 you're kidding me right? i jammed to that album for three hour straight on road trip- it made time fly as well as my spirits!

  • @donkiddick08 i must disagree, everything past Songs was downhill.

  • magnificent

  • Lmao me and my Bff shake our butts to this

  • @EmoLovin32 ...-solemn facepalm of epic proportions- One does not simply shake their butts to Mordor.

  • stevie is reall maan

  • Also "Innervisions' seemed like it was written by the hand of God.

  • Talk about your badass Bass line in this song!!!!!! God Bless you Stevie... : )

  • good song nigro

  • You gotta love that bass line!

  • I had the pleasure of seeing him live in London in the 80's and it was the very best live show i have even seen, he has more talent that any man of his generation bar none.

  • vERY FULL OF SOUL!!! CLASSIC SONG FROM A CLASSIC ERA! tHANKS FOR POSTING!!

  • It doesn't matter what mood I'm in. I put this on and I'm bouncing off the walls. :P

  • now this is music not like modern bull sinnging about how many girls they have or how much money they have, also in the last 10 years hip-hop turned somehow into pop and that sucks.

  • im only 14 years old but i live for this kinda music

just the groove and feel thats what im missing in todays music.

i hope it comes back one day.

  • @RisingMusic1 hey 14 year old kid of today..... i been listening to stevie when i was 12 and now iam 28 and from europe so please have some commone sense before you shout things like wouldnt prefer justin bieber but actually talk like him thank you much love no hate

  • Five guys has delicious burgers and the give you a TON of fries. I thought I share that with my fellow Youtubers and Burger Lovers. I heard this in that restaurant and that was the best day of my life.

  • A great song, played by a great singer on a little-known but great instrument - the clavichord.

  • Thank you God for allowing me to grow up in the 70s.

  • @EastofForever You lucky bastard :P

  • The drum intro is so funky......how did the rappers miss sampling this!

  • @tljones9 you dont sample this for the exact same reason why you shouldnt sample thriller.

  • This was when music was musical. The sound was unique to the times. This is TRUE Rhythm & Blues at its best!

  • Stevie Wonder's Theeee Shit !..

  • those horns are so amazing

  • @skateorlie i agree

  • the "duck" hammond! groovy!!!!

  • theres so much funk in this track its madness

  • I had this 45 when I was 13 years old, blasted it then and still blasting it 38 years later!

  • i belive 5 pepople missed the "thumbs up" button, and it slipped onto the thumbs down button

  • This song has one of the best beats of all time.

  • I like Raven Symone's rendition of this song, but I will ALWAYS love Stevie Wonder's version

  • I'm wasn't even into soul funk etc but...................this exceptional example of a human being and talent change all that, what a genius!!!!!!!

  • think about it.step on a crack break your mothers back.poor stevie, how long did he listen to this craziness before he had had it.mustve been fun having his buddies helping him miss the cracks.you could either say blind people were condemned,to be more condemned,or whatever god would just give them a pass.where a belief is found to be in error just add some more bewildering bullshit as a patch to hold the hot air in.flat that do-do ballon, proof not needed just ask the blind man STEVIE !!!!

  • ohh yeah...

  • On almost every other classic there is some troll kid saying they are only *insert age under 16* and prefers this music to songs these days. Sad thing is there are always people to thumbs these sheep up!

  • @AziMeX dssx vgxxgxx

  • Loving it!!!

  • blaster

  • rockin the 13th ,,cheers wonder man!!sooo funked up on this track,,,,

  • ah, the master at his best, what else can you realy say,

  • in 1972 when Stevie opened for The Rolling Stones, he did this long subway train thing on the keyboards which blew apart The Spectrum in Philadelphia ! We knew what we were about to be experiencing. And then he went into this brand new song called "Superstition". Maybe he was experimenting at the time, who knows ? The man is a genius !! He blew apart the Spectrum in Philadelphia thats all we knew at the time !! Thats Stevie & his history in the City of Bro Love !!

  • We played a Stevie Winder medley for our jazz band. I was so pissed because this song wasn't in it.

  • essa é para o Matheus (2º termo / Direito)

    um grd abç!!

  • One of the kings of polyrhythmic funk.

  • For years I thought of Stevie Wonder as that guy who sang one of the worse songs of my childhood - I just Called To Say I Love You. Being introduced to his 70s albums absolutely stunned me. Stevie Wonder #FTFW

  • @santoshjs You and me both, although I don't think that the song is the worst of my childhood. That's why I wanted to post all his stuff, cuz if I had no clue, I'm sure there were others out there who didn't know either.

  • @johnniewalker23 LOOK AND LISTEN

    OGHI ------------- GATA

  • @santoshjs So glad you have been converted. 35 years go i heard his 'Music of my mind' album being played while i was in the garden playing football (soccer to the yanks) - the goose pimples have never subsided - not surprisingly!!!

  • @santoshjs How old ( or young) are you? Stevie Wonder is an icon of music and has been since I was a boy in the 1960s, Dude! LOL

  • @mooseydeucy I'm 22, man. In other words, just old enough to remember Wonder as that I Just Called To Say douche. Listening to his older stuff quickly reversed my opinion, like I said. And I think Sir Duke karmically balances out I Just Called very nicely :)

  • @santoshjs Not to mention "Happy Birthday" & "Ebony & Ivory"! ( ha ha!!) very corny period. Luckily most of what he's done has been out of this World...totally inspired by a supreme force. This album was mindblowing!

  • @santoshjs LOOK AND LISTEN - IN YOUTUBE

    OGHI -------- GATA

  • a beauty!!!!!

  • This reminds me of driving in from Pasadena to L.A. on the pasadena frwy on warm summer night...........the best!!

  • do you no stevie wonders blind and he plays paino what a talent

  • Stevie Wonder predated funk with this song and rest of the orchestral arrangement in the song is just unmatched to this day. And not a single profane word in the song.

Wonder didn't need to use any kind of profanity to knock people into next week with his brilliance: that's all he had to do was make the music and sing.

And yeah, it's better than *anything* that's being made today.

  • @OubaDubaTuba much of todays "music" is just porn set to a drum machine. When did MTV become so dirty...

  • I first heard this song when I was 3 years old, in 1973. I still remember hearing it , because it was just incredibly brilliant. I immediately remembered everything about it and still do to this day.

  • 0:01 to 4:26 is the best bit

  • This tune is BADASS!!!

  • Hoje tenho 46 anos de idade, e náo acredito no FUNK que esse cara fazia em 1972.

  • Bring to title - Extended....amazing version

  • class :)

  • wow! makes you wanna get up and get down!!!

  • great song.check out my version on my page please:)

  • heheheheh, we were in band rehearsal going over this song (for the trillionth time...and loving it for the trillionth time) and our bass player (who was white) said this song must be for black people what sweet home alabama is for white people. Rehearsal stopped cause we were laughing so hard.

  • This song never fails to make me move. NO artist today has that kinda groove.

  • my bus driver plays music on the bus, and on the way home from school I heard this song!!

  • ground breakin

  • yea im 13 too. hes a music god. Never fails to impress me. Much better than alot of todays stuff if you ask me

  • @ madman6882

    i completely agree

  • Totally agree. Actually, a lot of stuff is better than modern music. I mean like, look at Lady Gaga!! She's a creepo that never wears pants!!

  • @madman6882

Smart person with good taste in music at your age

  • @madman6882 same here.

  • @madman6882 Madman..I totally agree with you. Help keep the real music alive. Turn your friends on to this!

  • @madman6882 a lot. two words. yeah. yea is pronounced yay

  • @madman6882 you may get credit for *liking* this music aged 13, but stevie had his first number one single 8 days after his 13th birthday (he already had 2 albums out by this point). now that's impressive

  • @madman6882 more than alot. i dont actually think i can think of any songs from today that are better than his. its ridiculous! :D

  • @madman6882 LOOK AND LISTEN

  • LegendAAAAAry

  • This is my favorite Stevie tune, just kin bril..dodododododododo thanks x

  • grooby baby!!!!

  • It's a clavinet. It sounds like a guitar and with the historic fact that Stevie Wonder wrote this song and gave it to guitar legend Jeff Beck. Some have concluded that Jeff played on this original. I don't believe that is the case. In fact, I believe Stevie actually released his before Jeff.

  • yeah he did i believe it was a year rior to jeff releasing it

  • stevie...the prophet...EXCELLANT

  • oh yeah......

  • How this song doesn't have hundreds of thousands or even millions of views is beyond me! O_O One of my favorite songs of all time.

  • do you know this song is usd in i robot

wen wilsmid is awake en turn on the radio

bud all so a good song

  • This might well be the most well-known soul song ever... Classic!

  • Absolutely great songwriting (as usual) by Stevie, but that haunting guitar sound, which defines this song, is thanks to Jeff Beck, one of the best rock guitarists ever.

  • that's a clavinet, not a guitar.

  • Stevie Wonder has to be 1 of the best soul artists of all time thats why he has stood the test of time . This song is brilliant just like all his songs .

  • perfect song for today firday the 13th :D

  • stevie wonder is one of the best freaking musicians out there!!!!
