"This is Himalayan Blackberry. All parts are thorny, except the roots. Canes will grow 15-25 feet in one year, and WHERE-EVER they touch the ground, they will root. They were imported to this area [Oregon] by a moron. If I catch ANY of you putting even ONE start of this Horror in my Greenhouse, I will throw you out of the program, and send your name, marked "IDIOT", to every registered Nursery in the state!"
Great video. Really wished that Blackberries grew here in Idaho. I dont have the right soil for them. By the way, try using Manual Focus on your camcorder. The problem with the camcorder is the Auto Focus isnt quick enough to focus when you do a closeup, thus the reason for unfocused segments. See if that helps.
xXcrazyalec40Xx , Every year they get matted fur in the late summer. We have long cold seasons except for summer. They develop really thick fur since they're outdoor dogs 100% of the time. In August their fur starts loosening for a heavy shed faster than it can naturally fall off. It matts up cuz they HATE being brushed. I do mean HATE. It's ok though because by the time fall gets here the matts have fallen off and a new heavy coat is growing in beautifully. :)
Havent read the comments so duno if you all talked about it but i was near some blackberry along a road and was loads we picked a few but all had tiny maggots in we ate some but tasted bitter cos of em (didnt know at the time till later lol)
Did you have maggots in the centers? If so howd u get rid of em?
Skeeter, I've never seen any maggots in the berries. Wish I could help you with your question but that's something I've never experienced. If I found maggots in my berries I'd probably be so creeped out that I'd never eat them again. ick!
mmmm they make good cobblers..my mom and i use to go berry picking w/buckets and people would stop us on the side of the road and buy them off of us, lol..i use to climb up on a chair by the stove and make an easy cobbler by myself w/my mom watching..just berries, sugar, butter, water,& canned biscuits i would pinch off and throw in there & stir til done..i was about 4 yrs old! my older brother would come in and want some & id tell him NO, its all mine! lol i was a brat! >;-)
OOOOOO! This brings back such memories! We had a massive blackberry patch along one edge of our property in NH when I was little. My brother and I would go out and pick basketfuls for mom to make pies, jams and syrup. They were huge and we'd eat our fill and still have tons for mom. My hubby and I are looking for property in the country, and the first thing we'll plant is berry bushes and fruit trees! Thanks for sharing!
Those are great, we have about the same amount. Ours have come and gone now and we have had more than our fill of them. Try the syrup in milk, it's awesome, also our chickens will peck your eyes out to get more, lol it's like chicken crack
Yeah my chickens, turkeys, peacocks and guineas all followed me to one patch and were snagging up all the lower ones and the ones I dropped. You're right, they totally love those things! I never thought about it until this year. lol
Jam, jelly and wine...oh, my:) Ferns are nice too. You should have stayed and open some greenhouses:)

I can still hear my Plant ID teacher:

Tell the truth Ray, are the dogs there to eat or protect you from the Bears ?
iampchaupt 1 year ago
@iampchaupt Those dogs would shove me into the bear's mouth if they thought it would by them one moment of escape time. lol
And they'd take the berries with them.
