  • Both Nikolais are brilliant here :-) Thank you very much for posting, dear Janja.

  • @SuperLuckydream

    Thank you for listening, Tamara.

  • Вот это произношение!!! И у коренных россиян такое редко сыщешь! Не оговоря уже обо все остальном!!!

  • One of the truly greatest tenors of all time!

  • Нis Russian language is beautiful.

  • Нет слов!

  • Rimsky-Korsakov was a master colorist

vocally and in orchestrations. Gedda uses his beautiful voice with a painter's

pallet here and it is quite wonderful.

    Thank you.

  • That's excellent perfomance!!! Thank you very much!

  • What a congenial and total understanding.

Such a noble delivery of this gorgeous piece!

  • Gorgeous! One of the most hauntingly beautiful Russian tenor arias sung by a master.

  • Great post!!!

  • If you question was meant for the "West", it was perhaps not a very good idea to write in cyrrilic. But what is the situation in Russia? Is Čajkovski there played less than Rimski-Korsakov?

  • @Herur22 a little bit belated;) Not at all, Chaikovski is played in Russia not less than Rimski-Korsakov. Concerning the situation in Russia you can watch for example what Valery Gergiev conducts. There are Beethoven, Wagner, Maler, Mussorgski, Chaikovski - and Rimski-Korsakov ("Sadko" in Novgorod, May 2011).

  • Удивляюсь почему на западе известен только Чайковский, а Римский-Корсаков незаслуженно забыт?

  • Rimsky is one of the greatest opera composers, if only people can accept him on his own terms and not compare him to Wagner or Verdi. He's not a dramatist, although his music is deeply moving.
