@ScopedOUT2 Huh, yeah, and Canadian rifle that Canada had absolutely nothing to do with.. its invention, production, and service life and issue....All American made and issued
@Chowkin9 Not really, the bolt in the game is only pulled part ways back the clip is somehow able to eject, when, in reality, the clip would be blocked by the bolt, and not able to eject, The bolt must be pulled fully back, then the clip ejected
@NormanMatchem Yeah, but its not sayin much about the rifle, some of the greatest American inventions of all time have been invented by people born in foriegn lands, thats what America is all about, the M1 and Dr. Garand are perfect examples of what America stands for
@LoneWolf051 Just as long as the man's heritage is respected. The M1 Garand was made in America largely by a Canadian genius. Just as the M1917 which was the most used rifle by the Americans in WWI is a product of the English with elements of German Mauser, the M1903 is a copy of the German Mauser, and the Krag rifle before that was of Norwegian heritage. The M9 today is an Italian pistol, and the M1014 is an Italian shotgun. I find the history/origin of firearms fascinating.
It's easier to eject a partially-spent clip and replace with a fresh one than it is to fill up the clip. Refilling is doable, but it's a pain, and there's the possibility of having the Garand try to eat a finger or two.
Haha that shit is nasty. Watched it happen to some idiot at a practice shoot during a gun show. He's "ub3r 1337 @ Cod" so he wanted to be the big burly war hero. Stuck his thumb in there with the clip and *SNAP*. No Call of Duty for him for a while.
in a fight, your not going to reload when youve got a mag half full, its when theres a calm in the fighting, instead of going into the shit with 2 rounds in the clip, you can have a full one
Wow! I didn't know you could top off that old beast...By the way, what scope and scope mount are you using? I'm looking for an alternative to the M1-D's side mounted scope set because I can't get used to it and I'm not keen on giving up my M1.Thanks!
I never really knew if you could do it, bu now I know! Press a little button on the left side and the clip ejects, allowing you to top it off! What I hate about some video games ids when they allow you to top off an M1 garand, but you don't remove the rounds in there first. You just pull the bolt back (with let's say, 3 rounds still in the clip), and you load a brand new clip with 8 rouns in it (so I guess you have 11 rounds in it now :O)
No, they just insert a brand new clip, thus overloading the rifle, you need to add single rounds to top it off, which can take a while because the weapon wasnt really meant to be topped off, instead it was designed to EJECT the clip, and insert a new one.
yeah, video games are not that accurate, especially with extreem detail, like with clip fed rifles like the Enfield, Mauser, or Springfield, if you have four rounds in the magazine and you reload, now you have nine :P i guess they don't really think these things through.
wat was mean sorry if i offended you i was just made because so many people keep on saying dumb things about how whe nthe garand pings everyone knows ur reloaing and they shoot u and that thep ing shoots alot of soldiers and alll the other lies abouthte garnad
no on the m14 whcih ahs the sam sights but uses a magazine it is directly on top on the gun. and hte scope does no get in the way off the sights another dumb answer
garand scopes have to be mounted forward for reloading and shell ejection. the only other way to do it is a side mount where the scope sits higher and the mounts go off to the side of the weapon.
if you watch one eject it goes up and out to the side like the spent casings. that way your not getting hit in the face. good thing to cause that would get annoying in a hurry! LOL
it can go either way numby. forward or off set to the left. and its not just off to the left. the mounts are only to the left. the scope generally sits higher and on the center of the weapon. this way it points right down the center there by makin it easier to line up shots. the original garand scope might have been slightly off to the left but it was definitely not straight up on the left side of the weapon.
first of all whats numby? and i meant the original snipers the m1c and m1d there scopes were off to the left and no its off to the left not higher up because then your face wouldnt rest against the stock and the scope would have to be really high up to clear the casings and clip ejection
first off wats numby and the scope is off to the left not higher up otherwise your face cant rest against the stock duh? so its just off to the left.where do you get your info from because i would like to see where you learn this stuff
ww2 is my thing. i've read tons of stuff on it. numby is short for numbnuts. and i understand what your talkin about. we're on the same page there. what i was referring to was the fact that its not directly straight up from the mounts on the left side cause then it would be on the shooter's left eye. what i was saying was that it comes up from the left with a slight curve towards the center. its not directly over the center cause that would interfere with loading and ejecting the bandoleer.
but i understood what you meant. i might have mistyped what i meant and if i did i appologize, but we're both saying the same thing i was just specifying for other readers so they wouldn't think it came straight up over the left eye, that there is just a slight angle towards the center but not so much that it interferes with the weapons functioning.
I am so glad to have seen this vid. I never seen this done with my own eyes before, I seen someone eject an en block clip that still had rounds in it but never reload like that. Thanks a lot for uploading this. Those videogames are often completely inaccurate when it comes to firearms.
yeah....whoever said a m1 garand couldn't be reloaded mid-clip didn't know jack shit about the weapon. soldiers did it all the time. no one wants to walk into a fire fight with only half a clip!
Actually, that's not an M1D. It's simply a scope mounted on the upper hand guard. A modern LER scope. The M1D had the scope mounted offset to the left rifle to allow the enbloc clip to be loaded and ejected.
meanwhile ZAP, k98 round has hit you in the helmet :p jks good video, im sick of internet commandoes too, this gun has it all, and many fail to see it for the true, and i mean TRUE piece of great engineering that it is.
Good to see a myth buster. Then there is the hype that the 'ping' will be heard during a gun battle. This also assumes that it cannot be reloaded rapidly.
Please show that it can also eject a full or partially loaded clip.
I see your point,But personally I would slide the op-rod back and eject the half empty clip manually.(Little tab on left side)And then put in a fresh clip. Nice Garand BTW...Its even got a scope, sweeet!!!
Theres also a differance between smart and stupid. A stupid soldier would probably go ahead and charge on...and most likley become a KIA when he finds he didnt have the ammo in his gun to handle the job. The smart soldier would reload.
However, that's why you don't lead the charge when you've been firing and reloading. You either eject what's remaining and lose some of your ammo, or you keep it in and take out another clip and keep it handy for a quick reload.
Its actually the king of Canadian rifles. The M1 Garand is Canadian not American.

end hold it with the other hand couse you reload now like a handie cap
irakees8 2 years ago 2
i know your supposed to just hold it not between your legs but actually put the butstock on your side
but why do people say you have to unload the rifle to reload thats dumb
icehelljumper 2 years ago
Well you do have to unload it,
You unload the partially fired clip, then load in a full clip.
And you place the buttstock on your thigh.

It's a long eye relief scope (a Burris 2-7x pistol scope). Everything comes into proper alignment when you use a normal cheek weld.
Also, it was live ammo. *shrug* The safety was on, my finger was never in the trigger guard, and the rifle was pointed in a known-safe direction.
rpiturkmvr 3 years ago
i hope those aren't live rounds.
