This performance is true belcanto and this great baritone has a wonderful technique. Belcanto requires a beautiful even production and effortless high notes and Hvorostovsky has the most beautiful baritone voice since Robert Merrill in my opinion. Thanks for making the video available.
I remember his first concert at Carnegie Hall. He was skinny as a beanpole with this enormous voice. Now he's bigger and better and I love his haircut. He can have my number anytime.

HVOROSTOVSKY is the best!!! and he shows why...perfect legato, round, effortless sound, solid technique...a jewel. He shouldn't carry through the last note, though. I know he always does this.
