Was lucky enough to watch these cars race at Mosport in the early years of the ALMS,,nothing compares to the sound of a Panoz LMP.They are greatly missed in the series.

The old panoz the Saleen s7 the mclaren F1 the dodge viper, all cars that technically still could run in FIA racing and still be competitive. The s7 always ran restricted because its performance was near lmp prototype level.

Do Panoz LMP1s have carburettors, or fuel injection? because it sounds like carburettor and i was surprised to find out that Panoz Esperante GTSs have carburettors, but that seems abit old fashioned.

Every Panoz except the GTS and the Trans-Am car is fuel injected. I'm not sure why the GTS is carbureted... the only thing I can think of is being a 'school' car they wanted to take electronics out of the equation. The Trans-Am car was carbureted because the rules dictated it. The latter wasn't even really a 'Panoz', it was a tube frame with a Panoz body on it.

Panoz are built about 15 miles from where I live here in Georgia. I go to the factory every once in a while to see what they have there, it's awesome.

Just the school, the factory is up near Hoschton. If you take 85 towards Braselton and get off at highway 124 exit. take 124 northeast a couple miles and you can't miss it.

I am used to hearing big V8s. I hear them in and out all summer. Heck I have a few here I can start and hear anytime I want. Having said that this Panoz is an amazing sounding car. Better sounding that a drag car or a stock car IMO.

The engine is not in the front of the car

It's a mid-engine technically, they've just put the driver behind it

why would you think it has oversteer? If it's front engined, that means it's more likely to un dersteer. I love Panoz, and most cars are front engined so that's a stupid question. They can save weight by not having to build the heavy fire wall that mid engined cars have

I was at Spa in Belgium for the European Le Mans series a few years ago and there was one of these there...I remember when it came round the corner onto the main straight everyone would start cheering-it added to the atmosphere so much

It was the loudest and meanest thing there-would deafen you at 200 yards
