  • Good job dude. I tried it and mine is working once again.

  • Is your toom way too cold ? you hands are soo shaaakky, it's so funny but a good job, i have a problem with my wireless receiver too

  • why does urs say microsoft and mine says xbox 360 plus i cant find the F1

  • @johect

lol, because yours is a cheap chinese rip off you bought over ebay ^^

  • Thank you it worked for me!

  • lol u suck at opening that thing! :D

  • Thanks for help. XD

  • thanks buddy! SOLVED HERE

  • thanks, worked perfectly

  • Please man, don't be a surgeon.

  • 0:11 you opened just to close it again FAIL

  • Did this fix tonight, tried everything else, figured it had to be the fuse. Just did solder over it, a dab, and bingo, works fine now. Great job MS...*facepalm*

  • Thanks soldered it today in engineering class works perfect again! Tweezed the fuse out and just blobbed solder on it.

  • worked. thanks

  • Lol parkinson disease?

  • @MrOrestis7 Who is attkinson?

  • If you are afraid of using soldering iron, I recommend using Circuit Writer (just draw with it over the fuse), it worked for me. Much easier than soldering.

  • hmmmm not good to do that way... yeah it will work but it will not protech the chip or other components :S

  • I soldered it on and it was working for a time (5 minutes) but now my controller just flashes all four of the quarter rings and doesn't respond. What does this mean?

  • @CommieCat The lights are flashing because it's not connecting to the receiver. You might have a cold solder joint, or something else may have gotten damaged while you were working on it. You might try rebooting, follow the procedure for reconnecting.

  • @mistere999 Yeah a disconnect of the receiver and reconnect fixed the issue.

  • Great thanks, worked like a charm, used a small copper wire and some solder

  • I also successfully bridged the fuse using a small dot of solder. Thanks for the fix.

  • Thanks a ton! Thought I would have to go buy a new controller but this fix did the trick.

  • Thank you a lot!

This is the first time I've ever used a soldering iron, and the receiver is working perfectly! I'm so happy :D

  • Thanks mon.

  • WOW THIS HELPS!!!!

    thank you very much!

  • i wanna thanks you for the method, i have made this for 1 year allready, the receiver is always connected to the computer(usb) (24/7) and i have no problem what so ever whit my rig or the receiver => the method it's not risky at all, even if you let the receiver connected 24/7. Wish you and everyone else Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year from Romania.

  • works like a charm!!! nice one thanks

  • I confirm : IT WORKS, and no sign of damage for my laptop, thx a lot man, saved me 20€

  • I found it easier to just bridge the gap with a dot of solder, being the gap is so small. Took 10 seconds to do & works perfectly.

Usually a fuse blows for a reason, so while I'm fairly confident this fix will cause no harm, I recommend only plugging in the receiver when you game. That way you can keep an eye on it. Conversely unplugging it when your not using it.

  • Thank you so much for this! IT REALLY WORKS! AMAZING!

  • This worked for me, and my computer hasn't fried yet so its all good :D

  • Parkinson is outside your door.

Thanks for the guide, but answer me something. Is there any possibility that this thing could damage my PC in any way? GatecrasherSlim said something about damage.. but I don't know if he is 10y/o and lying for fun.

Answer me with chances or facts dude.. I cant risk losing something bigger..

    /djNio

  • BE CAREFUL!! I just fried my computer doing this - booted the system back up and it said "warning - over-voltage detected - shutting down in 15 seconds"

My comp has now booted, but hard drive seems to be going crazy and everything is a little choppy... prob the CPU taken a hard hit because of this symptom i assume

  • i fixed it with a bit of tin foil and some sellotape, basically doing what he did in the video but the toolless way

    works a treat :-)

  • Thank you so much ;) ... You saved 20 bucks . You're genius man ;)

  • This worked beautifully.

    Thank you.

Also, I found a solution for getting the generic gaming receivers to work in Windows 7: Search the microsoft answers site for: "windows 7 will not recognize that i have installed the driver for my MICROSOFT xbox wireless gaming reciever"

This solution worked for me, if it tells you to create a shortcut for your xbox64_eng.exe and use "Windows Server 2008 SP1" Compatibility mode, Run as Administrator, then its the right solution.

  • I cut myself like a retard but YOU are a genius!!!

  • shakey hands.

  • I think I don't have a choice but to try this fix. Mine stopped working also and it seems that Microsoft has basically discontinued this product. It's impossible to find. All I've found are the generic ones, but I can't get those to work in Windows 7.

  • i dont have any soldering tool or any skill..still can i fix my dead receiver pls?

  • tnx man it woked :D happy me

  • Awesome you just saved my 20 $ =D

  • THANKS MISTER999!!! Now my receiver Works!!! ;-)

  • Is the wire even necassary?

  • damn, i thought i had shaky hands!

  • shenanigans on opening it. Every damn inch of this thing is glued, neh cemented, down. I cut my finger :(

  • hmm does this adapter work on the ps3? o.o

  • microsoft = fail

  • How "unsafe" is this procedure? Has anyone actually heard of it damaging a computer or game controller?

  • @hoopsdowntown12 well i got burn

  • @hoopsdowntown12 I think the chance of the actual receiver taking it's last breath is higher than anything else

  • Worked Amazing i actuary took the fuse of by accident and then put solder across and it still worked fine!

  • love the internet!

    thank you for this.

  • My system is a Dell studio xps 8100 with i5/750, 4gb memory plus a gts 240 video card(1024 gb) so being up to snuff is not the problem,LOL !!

  • will this product work with windows 7 out of the box to play NBA 2K10

  • @esj4373 You have to have enough computer to play it. If your system isn't up to snuff, then nothing you can plug into a USB port can help you.

  • Helped me out in jam.. much props

  • Thanks for that video,i successfully fixed my receiver. I did not solder the fuse.Instead of using the soldering method I used electro-conductive lack (Silberleitlack). I'm very happy because i can now continue to play games :)

  • thank you for this video. i got it to work.

  • Very helpful!

  • Thanks a lot man!! This video saved my ass and my money!! Again, thanks a lot!

  • Thnx alot man u saved my fingers fro, gettin carpel tunnel from the keyboard so now im back to using the remote :) 5STARS

  • This is such a terrible product. I've had tons of trouble with it, not just with the receiver. It's one of those times where I actually wish I had gone with the cheaper wired controller. They just messed this up so completely... They really don't care about their PC gamers at all.

  • worked like a charm. just solder didn't work, though. i laid some copper wire like he does here and that did it

  • For those who had this problem, did you have your reciever always plugged on your computer or did you plugged it each time you needed it? (in my case, I had it connected all the time and it broke after using it on another computer)

  • @PhantomT1412 same here

  • @crackerele Well I think I will never unplug it now...

  • So THAT'S what performing surgery is like. Jesus, I was holding my breath for half the freaking video! x.x;;; Not- Not for one half of the video straight, just, every three seconds, on and off, I'd stop breathing and start breathing again- that sort of thing.

  • Thanks for video, saved me a lot of hassle, just dropped a little solder across the fuse, job done.

  • Well good god damn! This did it. I just spent nearly the entire day driving around town trying to find some place that sells a new one to avoid having to do the soldering. I am ashamed of myself, it took less than five minutes and now it works perfectly. Thank you.

  • Thank you even if I am a complete lamer with an iron i made to fix it,damn m$ that always releases defective products why not a class action ? Considering they dont sell it anymore(despite all the previous promises) since its probably its an engeneering fault ! They must pay ! First the 360 then the wireless headset, then the wheel, now this wireless receiver they dont do a single thing without flaws !

  • thank you sooooo mutch it does really work its great!! you have saved me a lot of money, time and sadness :P

  • I had the same problem i did this and it works

you can test to see if this your problem with a piece of tin foil and Scotch tape cute a little square cover the F1 fuse place tape

the tape might not hold it completely so hold it down if you get green light plug it in in if windows see it you solved it

not you can use any wire i used some speaker wire i had laying around

i used silver bearing solder because its high Conductivity

  • Comment removed

  • thanks for the specifications but it worked?

  • one more thing what tipe of tip and solder did u use

  • oh and do i have to use a wire or can i just apply the solder

  • solder should be fine

  • lol u wer so late i fixed it already but thnx any ways

  • @picachu287

I was late? i didnt make the video mate...

    did you solder it then?

glad you got it working :)

  • yeah and it works fine

  • um i think im getting a soldering iron should i do this or practice

  • what kind of wire? copper

  • do we have to use the bypass fuse?

  • it works!

  • Yep this works. Rather than just a wire you can replace the fuse with a new surface mount fuse so it is not a risk to the device or computer. It just needs a few milliamps to operate. So long as the fuse is not very large it will protect the computer and the device for case of static electricity when connecting. You can buy them at mouser, Newark, Digikey, etc.

  • which kinda of model/rating of a surface mount fuse did you get?

  • worked for me dude!

whats our risks then from bypassing the fuse?

short circuit the reciever or the whole pc?!
