Pure talent. So sad so many people know nothing about music and can never appreciate stuff like this. To cover a song and try to mimic the original is just insulting. Because you can't.
Pretty much the only person who can sing this and it not come off as a horrible cheesy cover...cause I know Hank III has lived something I am sure similar to this...haha.
Shelton, Joe Buck, Adam, Andy and Menush on Drums. God I miss this line-up. This was 2 weeks after he played my wedding bash in Detroit. This was the best Hank III lineup. Will always love III but this was the shit !!
@howiedetroit I met a couple at an Imlay City bar that said they got to see Hank at their friend's wedding. I go, thats weird Hank didnt even make it to Flint that year... It was prolly cuz you stole him from us you A-HOLE!!!
I find nothing at all 'screwy' about the vocals here....My God, the expanded instrumentation and the arrangement are phenomenal. III is belting it out with fervor and respect....with just a little homage to the Great One's vocal style here and there. Jesus, it's music like this that jes' might save yer soul, people!
Nah, he didn't ruin it, he just did his own version of it. He's not Cash, he's not his daddy or his granddaddy either. Hel, he's not even Hank Thompson who did this before Cash. Hank 3 does things his way and is unapologetic about it. Mainstream country didn't want him, too country, so he does his own thing. He has more natural talent than 99% of "country artists" heard today.
RUIN IT hell, this is what you get when you get nothing but talented musicians paying a tribute to a great and making the song their own at the same time. in other words Mr. cash would be proud they are pushing his music to a new generation of hellions. .
Cash indeed would be damned be proud. Shelton is the fucking man, one of the true rebel's today. maybe the ONLY one(well, besides Dale Watson, and Wayne Hancock)
did they offically split? I figured since JB had shows at the same time of III's last tour he just got replaced temporarily! if he did leave that sucks! he was really cool!
I can't believe some of you got the ball's to bash Shelton "Hank" over the internet.Tough guy's I guess. He's A bad ass. He should try talking shit to his face
Shelton Hank Williams the Third is the man. Instead bashing III on the internet at home you should say that shit to his Face. Some of you Fags wouldn't know good music if it slapped your face.
The live version where they are in Texas with the steer skull as the stage back. It's more pure than the studio recorded song. Album songs that display his vocals well IMO are Three Shades of Black, any song on the second disc of STH, and the second version of PFF on DRRP.
To people who keep saying "he must be on coke" nah, but he has said in interviews that he does do some Amphetamine before shows. plus the sheer adrenaline of being the baddest goddamn motherfucker on the planet!

Just a little foot note that song was written 1947 by T.J. Red Amal. I hope I don't bore you but it was written about all WWII veterans that came home addicted to cocaine.
@chucufarley And you're completely full of shit. You can't even get the dude's name right. The song was written by T. J. The song had nothing to do with a WWII veteran coming home addicting to cocaine, that part is pure bullshit.
to all those who are actually getting mad because somebody dis-likes Hank, grow the hell up and not only realise not everybody is gona like everything you do but be glad they don't. It's better to be loved by thousands and hated by millions than to be another garth.
Did you eat paint chips as a kid? Ride the small bus to school? Dude his fucking dad blows, his grandfather is a legend, and he is in his own right a amazing muscian...
You obviously have never seen him perform. Three solid hours of energy! He's more like his grandpa than his dad ever was and if u really were a fan of Senior, you would hear (and see) the similarities. Hank Junior can eat a pop country d*ck!
In addition to "Damn Right, Rebel Proud" ?? He's still trying to satisfy his contract with Curb records, so I'm sure he'll crank out another album sooner or later.
He usually does that song and a song from Hank Sr. When I saw him it was I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive, which was great! You'll have a great time regardless, he puts on a hell of a show - for over 2.5 hours.

Wow! I cant say enough about this performance. It'a as raw as any good punk song and more country than anyone on the charts right now. I saw him play this live and we all went nuts. After the show he was just hanging out signing autographs and taking pics. Even though he had a swarm of people around him he never looked bothered by all the people he just seemed to be having a good time. I still have my pic with him.
