  • To think he was almost the lead singer of Led Zepplin.

  • brilliant.......shades of Robert Plant, or maybe the other way around?

  • the hard stuff

  • Nobody comes close to taking Zepellin's place. You had to be around at that time to understand the importance of Zep to hard rock. Same as the Beatles meant to touring bands. Nobody can replace these two.

  • Kool version..Like Donovan's and Dr. John's also

  • emo hair

  • saw terry open for cream (good bye tour) at msg . u wont believe the crowd actually booed the band cause they wanted cream . they also booed buddy miles band (2nd act that night) . i was so impressed with terry reid after the show i ran into king carol record store and bought the lp. i believe this was in 69.

  • Two people are the Witch

  • Thank you for posting this! I have this on vinyl from a collection given to me by my father-- this is one of my favorites that I kept on cassette with me during my music tours in the early 80's.

  • I heard he was Jimmy Page's first choice for lead singer for his new group. Terry Reid suggested Robert Plant for for the job; I wonder if he (Reid) had any regrets.

  • He actually sounds much like a younger Paul Rodgers on this to me...

    Free era...

  • Amazing. Thanks for posting!

  • "Super Lungs" was probably referring to his high-range Robert Plant-like voice, but coincidentally Donovan wrote a song called "Super Lungs My Supergirl" as well as "Season of the Witch". There's no escaping Donovan, I guess. :-)

  • @dobalena1 They're covers of Donovan-penned songs.

  • The cliche about singing the phone book and it would sound good is true with his voice....amazing...

  • Great post, great cover. Personally, I'd have loved to see this guy do a stint with all the supergroups he nearly joined.

  • Great post, great cover.

  • copied? no, but i think TR was an important influence

  • lol...makes me want to root around and find that one dried up dusty old reefer i kept for old times sake! brilliant!

  • no, zeppelin almost had terry reid. their loss. from this you hear where plant got his chops.

  • @rm3150 Do You mean Plant copied the Terry's style?

  • @rm3150 puh-lease

  • Words cannot encapsulate how much I love Terry. I'd rather be able to sing like him than anyone else, ever.

  • i love this guy i am 23 and most ppl i no even the older have never herd of him what a shame!!!!!

  • Amazing voice... what a generation of British singers....Plant, Marriot, Reid, Stewart, they all drank from the same well...

  • @chancesareshewears And Stevie Winwood, Paul Rodgers, the singer of Spooky Tooth (whoever he was), but I think the Well was Janis Joplin.....

  • Was Terry a speed freak? Sounds like he was with his lyrics. Did Donovan do it first?Or did he cover it? answers to azzie1@att.net

  • great!!!

  • I've dug this so many times, it's in my DNA!!!

  • how have only 1,932 people heard this.... shame shame....... terry was almost a zeppelin... could you imagine!... but if there was no robert plant... then there would have been no Bonham..

  • @PUIncubus I think it's because most young people today aren't familiar with his material but a lot of them are digging into the past for music because so much is disappointing today. Canned, plastic stuff. My vast opinion. lol

  • @Songsmirth 15 years old and doing just that man. agree with everything you've said. i actually believe they're so many more people like me that are my age that are doing just the same. my generation will realise what good music is and this decade will be the one that everyone remembers for rock 'n roll being saved haha

  • @PUIncubus hahaha, Exact, and Bonham is the best.

  • @PUIncubus

More worrying is that only 39 people (or 30 people plus me) have thumbed the song up. I'd take away their mouse or ears, whichever was found to be broken. Of course they might just be too bone idle to rate.

  • Hi, I thought Id post a version of Terry performing Season of the Witch live this year with UK blues band Second Hand Blues so you can hear how he does it now.

  • Killing voice like Marriott had. I also like Julie Driscoll-Brian Auger and Stephen Stills-Al Kooper covers. This one from Terry Reid is awesome too. Thanks Donovan for writing such good songs.

  • What a great version! Thanks.

  • Thanks for posting. This song blows my mind and Terry's the greatest...

  • Thank you for this...

A totally amazing version of this classic song...

  • Thanks for posting this and the many other classics by Terry. He's one of the great unsung heroes in R & R history and a personal favorite of mine. Long live the music of the 60's. Cheers!
