And there are hundreds of transitional species between us and that ancestor! try googling "The Hominid Transitional Timeline" you will see the whole group here. @Hillbillykid2000 because the evolutionary process is not something you can observe first hand...it takes a long time for those changes to take place..not just a few 1000 years but millions of years you have to have a macro-view when talking about this stuff... the changes occurring in nature right now are so slight you can't see them..but you can be assured as the environment changes so do the animals and plants that call it home..and those changes become vast the longer time line you look at

@Hillbillykid2000 Its very simple, only mutations that are benifitial survive in the genome due to breeding its called NATURAL SELECTION. A good example is why Europeans do not look like the original African model anymore? We have evolved lighter skins because there is less sun in europe, longer noses to warm the cold air as we breath, smaller lips so to not radiate as much heat and less muscular more fat retaining bodies to keep warm. We wouldn't have evolved darker skin because we dont need it

The point I think you are missing is that if a human is born with a genetic fault of the magnetude your talking about the likelyhood of him passing those genes along is very remote. Whereas a mutation which gives females green eyes im sure would get passed on.

As far as ive been taught evolution started shortly after the very first cells formed about 3.8 billion years ago (or at least natural selection started), they were called prokaryotes, single cells with no nucleus, about 800,000 years later the cell nucleus evolved then cellds started to divide using mitosis and they started to bond together using protiens and so on. In short evolution was there from the start.
