Driskel is not just a "spread QB". The guy can easily fit into either system. Driskel has a ridiculous arm and can fit very well into a pro-system. He just happens to have great running and athleticism as well. Most recruiting sites had him listed as a "Pro-Style QB". He has the whole package. He just needs to take the time now like any other true freshman would to learn the playbook, work on his reads, etc. But Driskel will be great for us IMO. Just not likely this year.
@GatorBaitIn08 Yeah The Pro Is more His style he aint a runner he just sits back there and delivers like a real QB Plus he has possibly the best QB coach In the nation on his side took a Kansas city chiefs offense from 26th to 10th In the league Both DRISKEL and Brantley are going to be good regardless who plays.
...the same way he did making Matt Cassell into a pro- bowler and turning a Cheifs offense that ranked 26th in the league the year before all the way to 10th
@dabigjimbo Yeah Don't worry about this new kid Driskel yet let him learn the offense and adjust from a spread to pro offense and watch Brantley light it up in 2011
Because Brantley was given so much opportunity for success with the worst OC in college football using him in a spread option offense... And yet we still be that ass. We own Richt and UGA. Have fun with a coaching change after next season.
wow look at the receivers john has and tebow had...addazio was horrible and everyone blames the qb cause its easy..lineman didnt block worth shit, no running game etc etc...stop blaming him for florida sucking..its the whole offense that didnt do shit
Unfortunately you are correct. Brantley sucks. Looked promising. Just a terrible pairing between his lack of mobility, lack of field vision, and game awareness and Addazio's inflexible inept playcalling. Look for Addazio to be canned and Brantley to transfer to a division II school. Reed is our QB for next year and will compete with Driskel for the job.
he kix some ass against Florida International.....but the SEC is NOT FIU....I'll withhold my judgement until I see him against the greatest teams in the greatest conference in the country this coming Autumn
and it was way too predictable. Our coaches played it way too conservative, knowing we returned almost our entire defense. Not Tebow's fault, Addazio and the rest of the coaches have to take a lot of the blame for that. This year with Brantley I see us really opening up the playbook a lot more.
You can wait and reserve judgement until he faces an Alabama or LSU defense, but I'll I'm saying is the people that are assuming there's going to be a sizeable drop off this year in wins in losses are going to be very surprised when the season roles around. Brantley is the real deal. Our offense may very well be better than last season considering we return essentially our entire o-line and rbs. Last year our offense underacheived because we ran our offense way too much through Tebow
We're not talking about a freshman or sophmore quarterback being thrown into the flames here. We're talking about a redshirt junior quarterback who was a former gatorade national player of the year in h.s. and ranked right there with Clausen and Mallet coming out of h.s. with 3+ years in our system. Brantley learned under Tebow for 3+ yrs and one of the best qb coaches in the game, Scott Loeffler, who coached up Tom Brady and Chad Henne at Michigan.
Where did you say was nearly picked? I re-watched it and not one pass was remotely close to being intercepted. What I saw is a pure passer with a great arm and accuracy. His throws were right on the money with good zip on them nearly every time, especially the deep balls. You can play it off and say there bad defenses if you want, the vast majority of them were. You can hardly fault Brantley on that considering he was sitting behind a heisman trophy winner and 2 time national championship qb.
Funny two of the passes against kentucky on this highlight he almost got picked off. The other highlights are against FIU?and during the spring game. Those performances mean nothing. Georgia had absolutely no defense last year. I'm not discounting this kid. He might be great. But I wouldn't put money on UF until we see how he plays against bama, sc, and some of the better defenses in the SEC.
What worries me is that Driskoll is a spread type QB like Tebow...and Florida switches to pro style..
