  • brings back great memories

  • This is a "Classic"... todays music, forget it. :(

    ~Nick~

  • Al Jarreau also performed this one for "Moonlighting". This is my first time listening to Lenny Welch. Isn't it nice to discover a new artist? Great song.

  • classic romance

  • i heard my mother sing this song so often, and she sang it with pain. now as a man i think i understand what she was singing about. God bless her soul.

  • great song, great singer, thanks for posting

  • The saddest song for an unrequited love! the best!

  • @TheCisCoKid911 It's more like most romantic song of all time, along with Etta James', "At Last"

  • A great voice....

  • I remember it fondly and always will.

  • The opening verse--the heartfelt love and sorrow he exudes----if you ever loved and were hurt---this song and the artist give voice to those feelings. The best.

  • Thanks for upload for great artist like Lenny..He would be proud..

    Great song..

  • I love that feeling that sweels up in my chest when I listen to classics. Its perfect.

  • @watusi14

At least all us old timers can spell. And know the difference between "you're" and "your". If you're lucky, you'll be old one day as well.

  • such an excellent performer, it seems as though you can actually see this mans heart breaking, you can feel the music not just hear it. and that brass in the back just a true classical song. god i wish there was more real music in the world.

  • Damn! Well, whose Al Jarreau? I love this version,I embarrassed.

  • Absolutely one of the most soulful performances ever. Just beautiful.

  • Thank you so much for posting this record

  • Great performance - possibly the defining one of many good ones. But it was on Cadence, not Kapp. Same color scheme on the labels at the time.

@catman916, so how do you explain Johnny Mathis' success in a similar musical vein? I think it was because Cadence didn't have the promotional muscle that Columbia did.

@BobSeger1981, we all have diffeent preferences - it's OK. Mr. Strong will be glad to know you like his version best.. (PS, I like Bob Seger, too.)

  • @countrypaul Mea culpa. You are correct, countrypaul. I should have looked at the label since I have the 45.

  • a masterpiece

  • Nobody...nobody does it better...thanks for the memories Lenny.

  • I see..So you can't like more than one version of a song...If you like one..then ALL the others have to suck.. Nolan Strong does his version and it's good. Takes nothing away from Lenny Welch. It's not a contest. Singers don't record different versions of the same song to see who does it best..They record because they like it and feel it differently...Not so morons can start a war about who does it "best". Good grief you're ignorant.

  • Nolan Strong & the Diablos sang this way better. This sounds like a lounge singer.

    I prefer soul.

  • I was only 10 when this was on the radio, I remember my Mom singing it, makes me remember her singing and dancing in the kitchen.

  • You couldn't just let the guy finish singing? This is my biggest pet peeve when someone goes to all the trouble to upload an all time great song and they cut off the last 4 seconds. Sorry but have to give you thumbs down for that even though I love this song and appreciate the effort.

  • @badbeatbri3

    really, get a life.

  • @BobSeger1981

I don't have a life so I had plenty of time to go to your channel and listen to the upload you did of Nolan Strong & the Diablos' version of this song. And not only were they not as good as Lenny Welch, but as expected, you fucked up your upload by missing the beginning of the song. This explains why you were so sensitive about my comment criticizing this upload for cutting off the end of this song, since you are similarly sloppy. Needless to say, you got a thumbs down also.

  • @badbeatbri3

If you don't dig that Nolan Strong version, you don't have a soul.

And yes, losers like you never have sex ... that's fine with me - your mom is a giver. I'm satisfied.

  • Still in love with you!

  • It' s not because we' re old and don' t appreciate or understand the new stuff. It' s because we' re old and understand and appreciate the good stuff.

  • This was the number one song on that tragic day in Dallas- November 22,1963

  • I loved this song when I could play it 3 times for a quarter and still love it. His voice will never go out of style and never get old.

  • Take that hip-hop culture.

  • Even though he wasn't the first to sing this song, It really was meant to be written for him, This is Lenny's Signature Song, Will always be, No one can sing this song like him.

    Great upload, Bravo!

  • Thank you

  • Several have done respectable covers of this tune, but no one has sung it as well as Lenny. Gorgeous.

  • @SRV4evr It is a classic recording.

  • @catman916 Yes, if ever there was one, this is it.

  • @catman916 In my opinion, most romantic song of all time. I think Lenny Welch was underappreciated for his time, because he was black.

  • @catman916 How did he only have one hit?

  • @Themusicvidsandrants "Two Different Worlds" received some airplay, but was nowhere as successful.

  • @catman916 That's a shame many people didn't appreaciate a lot of black, underrated singers back then, like they would today.

  • @SRV4evr you are totally right.

  • I don't know how but this song makes me feel reminiscent of a time that I did not even exist in...

  • Turn back the clock.......

  • He is still performing and singing this beautiful song to this day. Love it!

  • *sigh* such a lovely tune. makes me feel all warm inside =D

  • Great song; I remember this one from my childhood. I was pretty young, but mom played the radio all the time. If she had not, I would have missed out on a lot of great music. I think some of the best love songs came out of the 50s! Thanks for this post.

  • Lenny Welch to SInce I Fell For You is like Tony Bennett to I Left My Heart in San Francisco or Frank Sinatra and Luck Be a Lady ... a singer who sang a classic and, no matter how many other great singers sang it, his is the gold standard never to be surpassed.

  • Good Music - don't need to be old to know!!

  • Nobody can sing this like Lenny...........so many have tried but failed miserably............just leave it alone is my mantra

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

  • @ORYGUNLADY I agree...he "emoted" didn't he?...I love the way he says "light" wow!

  • @ORYGUNLADY ........From another Orygun Lady, ya just can't improve upon perfection! This is a perfect song, sung by a perfect voice. Stands out as one of my all time favorites. Just gorgeous.

  • i remember december 4th 1963 when steve asked me to go steady. Yes, i am old but i still have my memories and i love this song!

  • @watusi14

    Age is only a number.

  • I will always remember a sweet girl named Maria. She used to live in N.Y. Back in the 60's. If she reads this post she will know who I am.

  • My all time favorite song in the pop arena. And no one sang this song better then Lenny, that includes my favorite singer - Streisand.

  • @berrygoodstuff I think Laura Lee did a good rendition. This is my first time hearing this version, but I can say I like this one just as much.

  • Good vocal by Lenny. I remember when

this was a hit record for him.

  • I too recall December 1963.

  • @catman916 was it late december back in 63 lol.....

  • Thnx for uploading, again a lovely song, too thnx for ur mai

    coz of the sharing!
