Reading some of these comments brings to mind a saying comparing opinions to a certain part of one's anatomy. In the end - could you do this? No! Could you design this? No! Do you have an opinion about something you know nothing about and couldn't do on the best day in your life? Yes! Says a lot about you and your character! Me, I stand in awe of Sam, Fast Freddy, Warren and others as amateur athletes of the highest order! I KNOW I can't do what they did!
Bicycles come in different types, sizes, etc, just like humans. The thing that all bicycles share is that they are powered exclusively by human power. Some bicycles are powered by human arm power too.
skill: These guys are all hobbyists, and these bikes are pretty much all backyard projects. The labor in them is virtually priceless, but you could probably recreate one of these bikes (given access to the shell molds) for four figures.
Yes. And he looked like he was sweating too. It must get oxygen thin and warm in there. I wonder if any of them have done this run with a supplement oxygen tank to breath from.
yea that would work except for the gearing implaced it would be impossible to make it up hills Even if you incorporated additional lower gears it would be be still really difficult to pedal. and don't even mention trying to make a turn. lol
could add a 500 watt brushless electric hub motor to one of the wheels. That would give it substantial power to get up hills. It may also incorporate an articulating mid section (like a fish back bone) for making turns during low speeds. Thoughts?
yea like I'm sure people haven't already looked into this. What's the point of an electric hub when you're trying to keep it purely a bike. They aleady make electric scooters. How practical it is to arrive where you're going drenched in sweat. I think I'll be fine on a road bike.
why am I watching this? I should be making homework

Georgi Georgiev, the man who built this bike builds fabulous bikes (and he's a great guy too); look for Varna Handcycles and check out the bikes!

doubtful, im sure they get enough oxygen from those tire holes in the bottom. i'll bet it does get extremely hot and muggy though.

it should be very easy to incorporate a fresh air vent system that has negligible loss of aerodynamics.
