@BackpackerTom Well Tom.....I don't know how I missed your comment, but I did! I'm sorry for the delay my Friend. Yes.....I can just see the looks on the faces of my dates parents as I pull up in this minuscule excuse of an automobile. "That boy can't even afford a whole car, how is he going to care for our little Betsy?" Classic...lol. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, even if it was a 66 Buick Skylark and not one of these little gems.
@GarrettJDB There will be two of them in the shop during the Winter Months, getting bigger engines that will enable them to maintain highway speeds. Check my latest vids on the Portland tractor show to see a bunch of them. I'm working on a better video editor that will allow me to keep the HD. Until then I'm adding all the individual videos in HD for everyone to enjoy. Great hearing from you my Friend!!
That thing goes the speed limit? Dang thats cool. Id be able to get away with driving it here- theyd consider that to be a golf kart. Put a bumping stereo in it with some mag wheels... sweet...plus get good milage to boot.
those wisconsin engines probably out lasted most of the cars they once powered. i find it funny they used such an expencive engine for such an inexpencive car. If they made such a thing today it would have a shitty chinese engine in it.
Suzuki makes a small CC truck that is street legal herein the US. In fact, I just saw one Thursday tooling down the road at a pretty good clip. I'd say 50-55 MPH. Ford is also now importing one of their compact utility vans that are also very small. Then there's the VW 1L two seater that claims over 200mpg with a top speed of 75mph. There are plenty coming to market due to the big Going Green movement. This was a novelty in a time when the USA was relaxed after the war.
But they ARE selling these for the road. Different makers and designs, but same principal. There is actually an 800 dollar commuter car available in Europe right now. Do a youtube search for mini car and you'll see.
@ZippoVarga lol it would definitely be a bit back heavy :D it reminds me of a car called a American Bantim that I did some work on once that had a tiny little 4 cylinder engine 4 speed box rear end it was like a regular car just tinny made my MG Midget look like a Cadillac LOL
Both in kit form and finished. Obviously with a substantial mark up if assembled at the Ohio plant. It's believed that local Automotive repair shops took on the task of assembling these to turn a profit on them when they realized the popularity of the little cars. These were a novelty back in the 50s and 60s. There were plans to make a fiberglass version, and some actually made it into production before a fire destroyed the molds. In 1970, government regs stopped production.
I HAVE A MIDGET AND IM RESTORING IT RIGHT NOW!

@ZippoVarga i would put a Briggs Vangaurd 23hp v-twin or a honda 23hp v-twin in one of those so you have alot less gas consumption and better power
