i never understood why people invest in gold. I know a lot of the big guys out there promote this but what would happen if the govt which is in control of it deemed it worthless or 20 dollars an ounce like they did on 911?? If they state nope, you gotta buy and sell with this microchip only then what? Then were are we at. I mean if things are getting as bad as I believe they are and will only get worse (much worse) then gold should be traded for seeds and guns and a bible.

what could happen is that the corporate overlords and the rich that own the vast majority of gold will sell it when they believe it hits its peak and gold prices could fall by half once the gold selling rush is all over. if you want a safe investment, get a bank cd. it's federally insured up to 250,000, unless there is a complete collapse of the system then even gold would be worthless. you can't eat gold.

Yes, teens can apply. They might even get hired. And due to limits on their available hours, they won't get enough hours to be worth coming to work. They also can't do a lot of the jobs, due to restrictions on teen labor.

I've worked at this store for 6 years. In that time, we've only had 2 girls under 18, who didn't last long.

Walmart doesn't employ many 16-17 year olds. They're too hard to schedule. Even the 18-20 can't sell alcohol (& tobacco in some states), so they don't like them as cashiers.

And $10/hr for cashier? Only in the most expensive places to live! I hadn't hit $10 at 6 years.

They hired a few for Xmas, and then let them go.

Yeah, they cut ours before xmas was over too. Currently, I'm in the pharmacy and want out, but can't find a full-time position. Corporate is pushing hard to get everybody below management as part-timers.

The wage depends a lot on the *local* cost of living.

What you mostly don't see on the media spin, Unemployment is NOT at 10%. If you count the under-employed it's more like 17+%. $10-11 an hr around here um un-heard of bro! most places are minimum wage, at least that may be hiring. If I could afford to buy gold I would. But since I got laid off I can't really afford it. So I don't buy things I would normally do. I pull my $ out of the bank. Im just taking care of me now. Spending $ is not on my agenda.

Perhaps by "beatdown" you mean an overnight devaluation - some think that will happen (1 new for 3 old) later this year - see Bob Chapman. This scenario is possible but hard to imagine - a sudden collapse of the dollar is a "Nuclear Event" - but it doesnt hurt to be prepared for it.
