  • Franz Nicolay's version shits all over this song....Yeah ok.......IM SURE FRANZ FEELS THE SAME...ASSWIPE

  • Franz Nicolay's version shits all over this song...

  • This is just superb ... great song and sung in a way that really makes you really empathise with him on the failings of relationships ... Wayne

  • Warren, one of the all time greats

  • trying to enjoy my sandwiches, thanks for the show WZ

  • man, i've been listing to him for a long time and i like to think this song is a sinical look on him slowly passing away, and him seeking someone to take his place....

may he rest in peace.... brilliant musician

  • I get goosebumps when he sings 'there's no magic spell for a broken heart.'

  • MY kid just found hit someone the hockey song, he loves it. There might be hope for the boy, lol.

  • Another brilliant song by Warren. "LIfe Will Kill You" is a great CD. Zevon was brilliant through his entire song writing career. Just vastly under recognized, and not appreciated for brilliant prose. He was a story teller, as well as a composer. I consider him the "Van Gogh" of rock and roll. He wrote about his neighborhood, history, drug abuse, and love.

  • @johnthehulk1 I once read an explanation from someone as to why Zevon was not more celebrated. It went something like: You can't write 140 IQ songs for a public that wants 40 IQ music. I think that about sums it up.

  • @carrots001 ha ha thats the best explanation i have ever heard for zevon thank you.

  • the audience dissappered, suddenly.

  • One of the best song writers of all time.

  • Nah my top fav of his now is My Shit's Fucked Up. I laughed so hard at that song I was crying. I hadn't heard that one and I thot I had all Warren's stuff. When my hubby and I were dating, he played me this weird looking album that had a big .45 in the middle of a plate of food. That turned me off right there to desecrate a fine piece of firepower. That was my first introduction to Warren Zevon I was hooked LOL!

  • Bob Dylan said Warren was a songwriters songwriter ya either get him or you dont. Its a shame more people didnt get him. He was a Genuis

  • okay, so two people disliked this song... didn't know Bob Dylan and Neil Young had youtube accounts. Seriously though, what a tremendously underrated lyricist.

  • @overzealousdump what are you on about? bob dylan is a big fan of warren zevon and has covered several of his songs live.

  • @overzealousdump @mrtyuil Yeah, and Neil Young made contributions to two of Warren's albums.

  • This song is just unreal! what a genius

  • "I can saw a woman in two, but you wont want to look in the box when I'm through"

    classic

  • Who the eff disliked this song??!

  • @Sideout26

Two people who were sawed in two

  • To me, along with Robert Allen Zimmerman, the best songwriters I've heard in my life!!! Too bad he will only write songs in Heaven now! R.I.P. Mr. Zevon!

  • To me, along with Robert Allen Zimmerman, the best songwriters I've heard in my life!

  • this song is my theme song, the world needs zevon whether it knows it or not he needs to come back at least to do a song about what the afterlife is like, the story of the afterlife as told by warren would be amazing.

  • he is so missed the wonder of what incredible song is coming next is gone :(

  • What I like this artist and what I'm missing!

    R.I.P Genius!

  • The lyrics of this song are so clever, definitely one of his best songs.

  • love u warren

  • I miss him too !

  • Warren will always be known asone of the greatest talents of our time. Hail Zevon !

  • Dear Warren, I never heard you play but I miss your music and words so much.

  • what an artist, his piano is amazing have you been to plumtv or checked out crystal zevons site?

  • This is one of his best! love the self downing on this one! you?

  • I can't get enough of this tune! heard it for first time 3 weeks ago. Always like Zevon and saw in Buffalo NY in 1994. I am just really discovering alot more of his stuff. WOW!!

  • Warren is the best wordsmith of all time.

  • RIP Warren, We miss you !

  • I want to play the piano like this, Seriously, it would help!

  • PS I up-thumbed every comment on here!!!!!!!!!

  • Not one of Zevons famous songs, but one of his best! Oh, hell, they're all "bests". Love the irony and honest, self-deprecation in this one though.

  • "I can make love disappear/For my next trick I'll need a volunteer..." Wouldn't you die happy to have written that?

  • leslie! you ain't kiddin!

  • @LeslieGMN

One of the many lines I would love to be able to claim as my own. Sadly enough, I don't have even close to that kind of talent. On the other hand, how lucky we are that Warren DID have that kind of talent!!

What about the opener: "I can saw a woman in two/ But you wont want to look in the box when I'm through?"

    F'ing genius, all of it.

  • Truly. Even down to WZ writing a song called "Genius" ("He was makin' out like Charlie Sheen/He was a genius")...

  • This is a great little not so well known. Played this to a few people that weren't aware of his stuff. Loved it! Oh, I like it too btw.

  • Warren really could pull a rabbit out of a hat - amazing artist who'll sleep when he's dead.

  • Damn I miss him.

    RIP Warren.

  • @doggzma agreed

  • Great post. Huge WZ fan here. (Another 'Tuber has Warrens short a ceppella " I Need A Truck " posted.)

Thanks for a great post! Have a cool day.

    lowlifer

  • One of my personal favorites. WZ is a legend.

  • Great Zevon hit...Warren will be dearly missed.
