I always cry at the end of this movie. As a man who has had anger problems most of his life, martial arts has shown me how to have self restraint. That is where true power lies. This movie is by far the best martial arts movie ever.
Don't worry, it's not his last film, he just said it's his last wuxia martial arts epic. He's done other epic Chinese war films, though. And he's still doing martial arts films too.
does someone know which violin strings have similar or even the same sound as that violin(in the second part of the video) I would be grateful :* have a nice day :))
One who excels as a warrior does not appear formidable; One who excels in fighting is never roused in anger; One who excels in defeating his enemy does not join issue; One who excels in employing others humbles himself before them. This is known as the virtue of non-contention; This is known as making use of the efforts of others; This is known as matching the sublimity of heaven.
You can learn a lot from this movie . It shows how you can really grow in the martial arts . It shows how to respect yourself and the others around you . And also it shows that one strong man can't die anywhere but on the battlefield...That's what we all martial arts practitioners dream for !
I loved this movie and the message I received from it.When people work together for a greater good,.. anything can be accomplished! Much respect to the Master
I really love Chinese action movies especially when they have either Jackie Chan or Jet Li! I just saw great one a little while ago called “Films of Fury” that had some really cool scenes from both of the legendary actors. It just came out on demand and has some really great fight scenes and movie clips! bitly .com/uBGPir
for all who have only watched the normal one GO NOW AND BUY THE DIRECTORS CUT an extra 25 minutes to explain better most aspects of the film aswell as the fight with the thai boxer
By having it's hero win by dying, this movie shows a deeply christian influence. It shows that regardless of the outer forms of religion, humanity goes on everywhere.
Because the Human Ideal is Christ, and each one of us, when we try to become better at anything, we truly emulate Christ. This is why Christ does not belong to any form of exoteric tradition, be that roman-catholic, or other christian faith. Christ is universal, and belongs to all people, wheter they call him by this name or not.
Sure mate. I am sorry that I used the Christ term, maybe I shoud've used Higher Self or Cosmic Ego ? Would that make a difference to you ? I believe all these name the same Entity.
@HubertTheBeardless I do not believe the word is "exoteric" but "esoteric" and since when do purely Asian philosophies suddenly fall under Western dogma? Last I knew, Taoism, Shinto, Buddhism and Confucianism were and are their own independent, equally valid belief systems. As the other dude said, save it for the Western pulpits.
Western dogma ... eastern dogma, are all the same. Truth is only one, and it does not belong to any belief system.
I maintain my posotion that this movie is christian (in the true sense, not dogmatically), in that it's hero gains glory by dieing. When truth and honour is more important than life, we see the triumph of the human spirit, whatever it may be called. I call it christianity, but you may call it humanity, because for me the two are the same.
One of my favs! Definitly I will always be a fan of Jet!! he is the reason for me searching to better myself as a Martial artist and a Person .. and maybe one day as a Father.
to appreciate this masterpiece one MUST watch director's cut - completely different movie. if theatrical version is 7, director's vertion would be 10 out of 10. that's how good it is
I agree with all of you, Jet Li Fearless was the best movie i have ever watched, it had suck a great theme and the fights of this movie was amazing, Jet Li is the Wushu master and no one will be able to ever defeat him
what i also find so beautiful about this movie is that it portrays the true spirit of martial arts. Martial arts is about conquering yourself, all your own inner weakness and not about feeding selfish desires (e.g. UFC). Huo Yuan Ji in his early years was dominated by his ego and was fighting to dominate others. it was only later on in the film that he conquered himself and understood what martial arts was about.
This is so beautiful highlighted at 2.48 were he restrained the final blow.
anyone who liked this movie would like Ip Man with Donnie Yen in it! I encourage you all to look into it as it is on netflix for easy fast instant streaming..lol ; )
and at the end of the movie, the japanese fighter...he had great moral code. He could have easily said he defeated Huo and nobody would have contested that, yet he didn't take the easy way out and he made sure everyone knew he was defeated. A great movie with a great story and meaning, especially for those serious about martial arts. A timeless movie in my opinion, I hope it's remembered very well 20 years from now.
@seekere1 try ong bak, plot is main char tried to take back stolen sacred religious object while rejecting senseless fighting (if possible) and money along the way
@Deetroiter o.o I actually think he said he didn't win cause he didn't. I think Huo punched his heart and stoped it, so he was dead. But then it started to beat again. o.o Hence the odd facial expression he made and why Huo smiled.
@HungNguyenLuvTurtles Huo could have kill him with that last punch (noticed that the Japanese guy can't stop that punch), but Huo stopped. Huo didn't kill the Japanese guy because Huo doesn't want to make another mistake he did (when he killed a guy in warhouse fight). And it's very hard for me to explain why he smiled ...
@13241231324 As I understood it, the whole theme throughout the movie was that martial arts are a catalyst for self-betterment, self-development and introspection: not just destruction and killing. Each offers a different mode or path for this. The movie stresses that the core value of wushu is restraint. The smile represents him finally understanding, and benefiting from it: and clearly Tanaka, who selflessly hands the fight to him, at that moment comes to understand this too.
@awesomeion This is completely true, without Martial Arts I turn into a horrible, insecure and shallow person. Martial Arts are everything to me, it's my religion, my god.
Also, I watched this vid when it had like 137 views lol, and I can honestly say it deserves its views.
@HonestBloke Don't tell him that. That will just evoke all that ego. If he keeps at the martial arts, he will realize what he needs to realize on his own.
@awesomeion That is correct. In other word, a true warrior doesn't want to kill because of his experience in war. He or she has become so good that killing is for those who haven't been through war. Its better to save a life, rather then to crush it. Now that is when you achieve true enlightenment.
@Deetroiter he couldn't really, huo was spiting poison all over-how can you 'win' a dying man? yet i agree with you that it is a very beautiful+unique film
the film is nothing short of astounding. The undertones of martial arts values in the movie are numerous. He was doing martial arts for all the wrong reasons, to beat people. He was the best but he was arrogant. It took him losing everything to realize his problems. Through them he learned that you can be the best but you can be humble as well. The fight with the guy and his dad, the opponent was dirty. He did not acknowledge defeat even though both knew who the clear winner was...
Despite the shameless nationalistic sentiment, this was a fairly good movie - but why are the English titles for Wuxia films always so poorly chosen??
@giakomolemons there is not an actual given name for this song. I own the soundtrack score to this film and the music goes just as the movie, in chronological order. For example, song 3 in the soundtrack is named "kids" in where the little kids fight on the platform in the movie.
i love this movie it taught me soo much alot of these asian martial arts films have strong lessons this movie made me almost cry and how can 23 people dislike this video they obviously have no taste
I'm always admired by China and its people and culture... and martials arts are just amazing... Ip Man, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Donnie Yen, and the list goes on and on and on. I'm a Wing Chun (aka Wing Tsun) practitioner but I also admire the beauty of other styles of Kung Fu and Wu Shu. Long life Zhong Guo (China)!!!
I remember watching this and almost cried out my soul...but if he was to live I do not think I would like the movie as much...maybe because he looked so much more heroic. A hero is born for only a short time, but a coward is born to live their life to the fullest...
I just found out that Jet Li is now a Singapore citizen. (After many years living and working in the USA). I am privileged to have the same birthday as Jet Li.
Maybe that's why I like him so much.
As a wushu master he is magnificent. I could watch any movie with Jet Li.
But I prefer his non-Western films in which he is completely Chinese in every way.
he is so inspiring to watch, and he made some pretty bad Americanized fighting movies in past years, but im glad he made this truly epic and beautiful movie. i know he plays in the movie the expendables, but other than that...
Jet Li is definately one of the greats. The end of this movie made me cry and I have no problem admitting it. Huo Yuan Ji died fighting for what he belived in. Preserving the spirit of his people was much more important that winning a fight.
The end of the movie where he is on the hill doing his moves and the wind is blowing with him is the part that gets me every time.
@RaiderNic99 I agree dude..this movie was beautiful not just because of the fight scenes but it also teaches you a lesson.. ill never forget what Li said: "Through competition we discover ourselves." :)
huo yuan jia was one of the greatest champions of the world he was a true kung fu champion n this song suits him so much

Why did he have to die!!!??!!

Wonderful man!

@Bouncybon he's not actually a wushu master, he is an actor

Well yes., OK (if you say so). But Bruce Lee was also an actor.
However, his acting was entirely based on the brilliance of his martial arts.

@ervin920 actually he may be an actor but he one a wushu contest at the age of 13 and he if fuckin good at wushu

Is this his last Martial Arts film? Jet Li is about 50 now, I believe.
Does he live in the US or China?
Bouncybon 1 year ago
@Bouncybon i was wondering the same thing.
he is so inspiring to watch, and he made some pretty bad Americanized fighting movies in past years, but im glad he made this truly epic and beautiful movie. i know he plays in the movie the expendables, but other than that...
