Wow is all I can say... I crossed paths with Jose back in the late 80's in NWA's First Class lounge in Seoul Korea. We were both carrying on our guitars and had them with us in the lounge. He somehow knew I had my guitar, and asked me if we'd like to trade. I laughed and said "sure"…of course he was just kidding. However, he took my cruddy Sigma Dreadnought (Martin wannabe) out of my case and proceeded to make music with it I never could nor have since.

@dmwierz459 How cool! I had a similar run-in with Les Paul...he played a gig at Kean College (New Jersey) in 1977. Me and some friends went there after school and were blown away...especially when he invited us backstage for a chat. He actually took me by my 16-year old hand and answered several guitar questions. I'll never forget it. Jose F was always one of my idols as well...

You are likely not old enough to be familiar with him in his earlier years but just to give you some perspective on the special greatness of Jose Feliciano, as there are 7 wonders of the world, as in the Grand Canyon, etc., there are only 6 wonders of the world in recorded history of music: Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, Eagles, Ray Charles, Andy Williams, & the 1 & only Jose Feliciano! He should not only be a National Treasure of Puerto Rico, but a National Treasure of USA!

actually you never heard about him because he was the first person to actually sing the national anthem, a puerto rican. He almost got arrested for that, a blind man arrested haha. So they stopped selling his records in the states back in the day for a while. But yes he is thee best in my opinion.

He comes from Usa, where He live since was a child of 5 years old, was an international superstar in 60s and 70s and one, or perhaps the most, incredible guitarist of this world without any campare about he do in ranges-styles with his guitars. You never heard him because music business, magazines, radios and "music experts reviewers" are the most false and cringers people of the money of this world :-(

He is actually Puerto Rican, from the town of Lares. But otherwise you were right on the money. He is an amazing and accomplished musician, yet most people nowadays don't know about it. He was a puertorrican international superstar way before Ricky Martin or reggaeton, yet they are more recognized than him.

Yes We all know He's born in PR but all his life, from age 5, lived in Usa and musically he's formed there earing Ray Charles, Segovia, Wes Montgomery, Sam Cooke and Elvis Presley and old bolero from latin america. But here in Europe and rest of all world when he was a superstar was know like an international artist from Usa, for his english songs and for his personal soul music with some latin influences, here Jose was compared to Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers... not Julio Iglesias or reggeaton

What I meant was that whenever people nowadays talk about Puerto Rico they think about reggaeton or Ricky Martin, when people like Jose were proudly representing us way before them and with better music.
