I used a Wilkinet from birth because I had a bad back and was told a soft carrier works best, I can say that it totally takes the weight off the spine and into the hips. I have just got the Hotsling as my girl is 10mths and wanted something to just pop into my nappy bag, there is some strain but it is great in the hip hold for up to an hour, my wee girl cuddles in & loves it. I'm sure your intentions are good, but i am not sure how you can review something that you have changed the design of.
you are supposed to spread it over your shoulder and arm, not gather it up by your neck; thats why it is uncomfortable and probably swings around when you move. if you actually had the right size and wore it correctly i think you would learn to loathe the bjorn.
It's a shame you altered the hotsling instead of exchanging it for the correct size. I have 2 of them and they are the best pouches out there. You have to get the right size, and it does work very well. My 7 month old has been "hotslinged" since birth
Altering the pouch might have compromised the comfort factor. I wouldn't alter it since there are specific sizes for each body type. As for the Bjorn, have you read about them not being good for baby's hip development sine baby's legas are in dangling position?
i've tried tons of different pouches, and i never liked them either.
have you ever tried a wrap? :) wraps are super comfortable, and carry your baby in a seated position. (baby bjorn hangs your baby from the crotch which is dangerous for spinal developement)
I did watch those videos. I visited the website several times. I really wanted the Hotsling to work (I paid a lot of money for it). I tried it several times over 2 months, it just never fit my or my baby right. I am waiting until my daughter is 4 months old. Hopefully, it will be better in the hip position. I just never felt like she was secure. The Baby Bjorn gave me 100% more peace of mind that she wasn't going to fall out.
If you pull the fabric down over your shoulder just a bit, it will spread out across your back and be more comfortable, feel more secure, and align baby's back into the proper position. Hotslings has videos that are really easy to follow, it might have been a good idea to watch them or even find someone to help you before posting a review. Just like trying to bath a newborn without ever having been taught, babywearing can feel very awkward at first but it gets easier each time.

I am a hotsling user and lover, and in this video, the sling is obviously too small for the user.
