Do you ever find yourself getting sick allot from being around so much mold and bacteria all the time? Also what's the strangest thing you ever saw in the trash?
It is very nice. I used to dump at the local landfill the first few years of my hauling career until it reached capacity and was shut down, and the transfer station opened.Landfill trips always sucked and took longer, you had to drive all the way top the top of Trash Mountain, sometimes in the mud, snow, etc, and there was always the chance of getting a flat tire or maybe even something wrapped around the drive shaft if you were'nt carefull. I dont miss the landfill one bit!!
also add: items wrapping around air lines and ripping them off, then sitting there on top of the garbage mountain not being able to move for an hour until mechanics come to the rescue. haha
It's hard to get a good shot of me dumping my truck without being in violation of safety rules or holding up the show, which is why you havent seen a good shot of that yet.
In this vid I just put the camera on the rear bumper, its pretty much a major no no to go outside the boundary immediately surrounding your truck while inside the station. I havent had a decent chance to place the camera in a safe spot to show my truck unloading as of yet, but I will take it if it comes around.
Hi Eric!! Nice vid, proves the need to recycle!!! Pronto!! So, graduate of ICS I see. Your GPA (garbage pounding ability) was good, right. LOL, good one and when do we see more hopper action??
Yeah I have a pretty high GPA, top of my class Lol!
More hopper action to come, just hasnt been convenient lately for me to get. I'm about to go through some of the older bulk footage I have saved on my pc and if there is some decent stuff I have'nt posted yet I'll put it up for ya'll soon!
I dont have the answer to that but on the surface it does seem like a reasonable idea, I'm sure it would work better in some places than others though.
I assume its mostly economics. The infrastructure and effort to create a waste to energy facility is probably much more expensive to build and maintain than the traditional landfilling method, plus all the emmisions requirements and such.
Great video Eric! Loved the two shots of the trucks unloading and the loader action -- the one that was taking everything to the trailers was pretty cool with that part that clamps down on top of the garbage to hold it in the bucket.
l.o.l @0:05~1:25 the trash is dumped & "lies"around :P not for long though !!! they need to recycle way too many bottles "clanking" in the background !!
Hi Eric do they compact the garbage before they place it on the trucks to go 50 miles to landfill?I was wondering if they do could you possibly get a film of that sometimes sure would love to see that how its done?/Thanks very nice video as all your videos are Great..
They dont compact the garbage in a compactor, just with the loaders. If you notice at one point when the loader dumps his bucket of trash into the trailer he then uses the blade to smash it down, doing a wheelie in the process.
From what I understand they are able to pack plenty in there just by doing that, though it often seems like it would be rough on the trailers.
i could sit there all day watchin this :) awesome vid eric :)

Why can't we just burn the rubbish in a power plant to genorate electricity?
-instead of trucking it 50mi to dump it in the ground.

Great footage! 50 miles is a good drive. Here in the County of Sacramento, it's only about 10 miles!
KennysTrucks 2 years ago
not bad, here in Shoshone County in Northern Idaho it's shipped some 120 miles to the BFI landfill in Missoula
