I'm just kidding. But good video. This does work though, sorry it didn't work for you but I have read several different articles on it working on people and have had friends with success doing this. I guess it all just depends on the different variables and way of going about doing it. Or maybe it just works on different people who knows. Good video thous.

actually it does work...in the 1920s a cat burglar named nigel hubbard baffled scotland yard wirth his burglaries with no fingerprints...it was later discovered he removed his fingerprints by pricking each finger several times then soaking them in the juice of the fruit for several hours a day for several months...its actually the acid "pectin" that makes this work...it is also extreamely painful

That was SO unnecessary! That amount of scouring that you did essentially changed the experiment, which was about the ability of pineapple (specifically Bromelain) to remove fingerprints. Even if it'd worked, we wouldn't have been sure if they were gone because of the pineapple or excessive scouring. Are you sure you're not just a masochist? Either way... it was hilarious.

Bromelain is extracted from pineapple stems, not from the meat of the plant. Which is why pineapple pickers, who are constantly handling the stems when they pick the plant, supposedly lose their fingerprints.

Ok what did you expect. First of all, Stephen said pineapple pickers had their fingerprints erased because obviously they handle the stuff for years on end. Second of all you have a zillion nerve endings on your fingertips (that's why they are sensitive to touch) What did you expect when you start taking layers of skin off.

I can't locate any reputable (i.e., peer-reviewed article in a scientific journal) source that confirms Bromelain's fingerprint-destroying abilities. Interestingly though, it does break down peptide bonds in your tongue when you eat it, but these are quickly replaced so no permanent damage is done.
