After using the phone for few months I really liked the phone but I hate the fact that it does not have any proper app store and it is not supported by the Nokia PC software...
This video is disingenuous. it's suggests the n900 is faster at doing all those things at once than it actually is. The video has been sped up. and the n900 is fast but not that fast
@Andraeseus everybody knows that this video is speeded up. But trust me, it's really fast switching between applications. They did just speeded up the movie to skip the gaming parts where the original would be the double. So it won't be the classic 30 seconds. Trust me it's fast ;D
@nismo444 In a nutshell, capacitive touch screen allows true multi-touch while resistive touch screen does not. For further info., You're required to push a little bit when operating on resistive touch screen while you just need a soft touch on capacitive one. However, capacitive touch screen won't work if you're wearing gloves or use a normal stylus. Hope my explanations are useful and simple enough.
@doomdiglet with the N900's touchscreen i can wipe of dust specs without having to lock the screen but at the same time it's pretty much effortess to trigger a click, and AFAIK there are resistive muitouch screens out there (but of course not on the N900)
Yep, it is a very impressive phone, just hate that Nokia screwed so many people into buying the N97, like me, and then announcing the n900 a couple of months later, WOULD HAVE KILLED TO HAVE THAT PHONE instead of this crappy N97 compared to the n900, but still it does the job, but more slowly ^^
I've got a question, some months ago i heard that the n900 has a resistive touchscreen, but now the said it has a kapazitive touchsreen(from Nokia site). Has nokia changed it, or was there always a kapazitive touchscreen.
It's (a really good) resistive touchscreen. For this model I think it was a good descission to choose resistive over capacitive in order to be able to use the stylus when using the FULL BROWSER :) You don't have to use it, but it is convenient :)
well i've heard from a lot of site that is a resistive touchscreen. The one who said that is a capacitive are the one who find the touchscreen very reactive i guess
Apparantly Nokia isn't selling the N900 in Australia which is sad cause we are a country of 22 Million with a market potenial of at least 2 Million. If Nokia brings it back here hopefully they will put 850MHz 3G in it WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE lol. Quick Nokia while I have the money to buy one =)
I try so hard to make the N900 crash to reproduce a bug I saw. I couldn't. All apps open plus 3rd party ones....N900 refused to crash on command. Still switching between live windows effortlessly.
It's a shock to the system when I return to the N97 and you really notice those delays and micro freezes. N900 - just bliss. And it's only just come out - N97 has had 3 firmware upgrades.
Its all about the software baby. N97 runs Symbian and N900 runs Maemo. I was a fan of Symbian until it crashed one too many times. I think Maemo is a much more stable and supported operating system because its open source.
The last Nokia smartphone N73 that i used was real laggy in these matters like switching between applications and loading up few applictions in standby mode. Even 5800XM is not that smooth either. While N900 blows my mind!
n73 is shit. i had one for a year. the phone isnt so shitty, but it LAGS a lot. probably the laggiest nokia phone ever made. the camera and the screen are good.
Technology get better... wish we could say the same about humans.
