As a gunner, I would have thought you would know that the Heavy Machine Gun is not a "50 Cal"as you put it! Its a ".5" (inch) which is 12.7mm. If thats your trade as a gunner then get it right.You talk of all the other calibers so why not this?

I was a .50 cal gunner in the US Army. We never called it five inch or 12.7mm. The correct designation is the "Browning Machine Gun Cal. .50, M-2 .50 Caliber." It is even stamped or stenciled .50 Caliber on Ammo cans. So respectfully you are wrong on this one the RAF airman has it correct. In the US Army the slang term for the fifty was "Ma deuce."

Poundforpoundchamp, Be a pilot :) Good pay and great opportunities, not sure where you can get them from but try to order an RAF pack, has information on quite a few of the jobs a leaflet on how to get fit before going in for training and things like that.
