  • how did he die?

  • this is so sad to hear that Boby Driscoll died so young! He was only 31 years old, he was a year younger than I am today. yes child actors have it bad in the entertainment industry because after they become famous, they can't go back to having anything resembling a normal life, like playing in the backyard with their friends, or anything else the average child can do. more should be done to protect these child actors in the industry.

Great tribute to Bobby Driscoll. RIP.

  • There should be a plaque for him at Disneyland. :(

  • Many years ago when I found out about his later life and lonely deat h I felt sick.

Recently I was looking at the names in the Disney's Legends- Bobby's name is absent. What gives with that?

For my money there are 3 child actors that I can never grow tired of watching-

    Scotty Beckett

    Dean Stockwell

Bobby Driscoll. So talented he was and utterly natural.

Thanks for this heartfelt tribute. Robert Driscoll should never be forgotten.

  • I HATE it when someone you know and love dies.

  • A little ironic that when I watched this vid earlier today there was an advert for Disneyland up on the right.

Check out the moving tribute by his daughter: Bobby Driscoll and Hart Island.

  • It's a shame that so many child stars and adult stars do drugs. Goodbye Bobby, we love you and miss you!

  • Really, this is heart breaking. When I first looked up to see where he was these days, I almost started crying. Such a horrible ending to a young life.

    RIP

  • RIP bobby what a sad life i loved him in Peter Pan he was a gifted actor i feel sad when i think about his life that's what happen when you are in show business so many child actors gone i hope he is at peace you memory lives on in all your movies bobby RIP

  • This is one of the saddest stories. He was like the kid next door, such a natural actor. Thanks for putting together this thoughtful tribute to a little boy I felt I grew up with.

  • R.I.P., Bobby.

I agree that he most certainly did get treated pretty badly in the later part of his life.

  • Wow, cool vid! Bobby Driscoll has been an icon throughout most of my life. When I saw "The Window" on TV at the age of ten, I wanted to hang out with him 'cause his character had a wild imagination like mine. I soon discovered what happened to him and I was devastated. Now when I watch "Treasure Island", his professionalism as an actor is truly remarkable, and when I hear his voice in "Peter Pan" it becomes too obvious...he was destined to become that boy who never grew up.

  • @KiriannasBoyARtisan yet if he knew that Return to Neverland was in production he would have made it back to acting

  • @iscreamer1 You are right!

  • The Window (1949) and Treasure Island (1950) - two of my favourite movies, for the same reason.............Bobby Driscoll.

Such a wonderful child star, whose life in adulthood ended so sadly and tragically.

Thank you posting your wonderful tribute.

You will never be forgotten Bobby.

  • When I did some research to find out where he is today, I was so shocked to find out about his sad lonely death. Child actors must have the worst chance to have a normal life than the rest of us can imagine. Thanks for posting this tribute.

  • @ShushLorraine how did he die

  • @Aleksei5055 Aleksei, I went to imdb.com to find out about him. I think that's where I learned how he died. It's been a while since I read it, but this is what I remember - He died of a drug overdose in a staircase of an abandoned building. His body was found when it was unrecognizable, or either, it took a while to identify the body. He was first buried in an unmarked grave, then, when they learned who he was, they re-buried him with the honor he deserved. Corrections welcome.

  • @ShushLorraine I just learned he was never re-buried. He was buried on Hart Island in New York, a public cemetery - a "potter's field". Too heartbreaking.

  • What was

    the resen that hi died

  • like most celebrities in those days, drug abuse

  • @dancelife450 Such a shame!

  • Great video. Very touching. I knew he was found dead but I didn't know he'd been dead for a year! :(

  • Bobby Driscoll was why I grew up wanting to be in pictures. He was THE best. Loved all of his films! Would love to find a movie he made called When I Grow Up. I remember seeing it as a wee lad, maybe I was 11, but never forgot it. And we, the children of that era, will never forget Bobby.

  • Wow. You are so fortunate to have such an amazing person to me as your father!

I don't want to sound cheesy but I love Peter Pan with all my heart. He was my favorite hero as a child. I still cry every time i watch it. Matter a fact, I just watched it today. That's how crazy I am about Peter Pan. May God bless him. I envy you so much. I would have gave anything to meet Bobby Driscoll

  • good dude my best friend

  • Great tribute, thanks for posting.

  • I don't know about his family spending his money or not, but you are correct about the pauper's grave. He was buried at Hart Island, New York City's potter's field.

  • #2

But, NO, he didn't have everything - maybe at one time while he was in business. But, he lost everything. Disney let him go at an age Disney couldn't use him because he was getting older. He wasn't the cute Tom Sawer anymore...

  • I was in Hollywood and heard all kinds of stuff under the table - yet, maybe it's well known information. I've seen no biography that I know of on market - if one, then I don't know about it.

  • He gave the Disney Peter Pan his voice..

    awesome~

  • Died the same year as Scotty Beckett but was only discovered dead the year Judy Garland died.

  • I think he was an exceptional child actor; and unlike so many he was authentic. Maybe he was gifted with a greater imagination, or a stronger sense of "play" but he really INHABITED his character: he became the person he was playing; and the roles he had in his short life were all different from one another. His performance in The Window earned him a special Oscar, I believe. Absolutely brilliant.

  • Thank you! That means alot xoxo

  • oh my god this is so sad :'(

  • Personally, I never liked any of the movies he was in...Never even finished watching Peter Pan...But, this is soo sad. Didn't anyone wonder what happened to him? Seriously ppl gotta wonder..

  • I had no trouble with The Window or Treasure Island. Actually Bobby was pretty much what boys of that time period were supposed to be like, at least in the minds of moviemakers. I find him full of energy and appealing in many ways. For one brief shining moment...

  • he had everything didnt he go off the rails because of drugs??

  • Wow! It's really sad that he had to die so young. This was a very beautiful tribute to Bobby Driscoll. I've only seen one movie of his which was Peter Pan(my favorite movie of all time) but I know he was one of the greatest child actors in hollywood. I think every child actor should look up to him as a role model. Forever, Bobby Driscoll. He will never die.

  • This is a very nice tribute to Bobby Driscoll, obviously done from the heart. Bobby's work holds up well today; several modern actors, not all of them children, could learn by watching his work! It is unforgivable that this exceptionally talented child was not helped to transition smoothly into adulthood by those who profited off of his work as a child; they are morally obligated to do so. Unfortunately, they are not obligated legally, which is why so little has changed since Bobby's time.

  • I heartily with every word you say. Bobby was not only a brilliant natural talent but also a lovely character who deserved far better. I think he has earned his place in Heaven.

  • Though I've seen only a few of Bobby Driscoll's films plus these YouTube clips, I really think he was one of the most exceptional child actors ever. His female contemporary Margaret O'Brien may have been the bigger star (and I mean no offense to her), but Bobby had the clear edge over Margaret in acting ability...he was just plain natural!

  • please post comments out of respect to one of the best actors with one of the worst deaths...
