My friend who lived through WW2 in Holland made this observation, those who had gold got to eat. His father traded a gold watch to a farmer for 100 pds of peas. It saved their lives. Gold and silver is just a way of saving value, paper money as we see doesn't do that.

I just got MSNBC on digital cable and I'm shocked by the amount of conservatives they have on. People say how liberal it is but when you see the shows you see people like Joe Scarborough, Pat Buchanan on stuff like Hardball and every time they have a "Democratic Strategist" they have a "Republican Strategist." Olbermann, Maddow and Schultz are liberal but Schultz has been on Obama about healthcare lately and Maddow has taken Obama to task on gay rights recently, its different than I thought.

Nothing you said indicates whether or not a pre-born babie feels pain when it is killed, either by waterboarding with saline solution, pulled apart limb by limb, or punctured in the head with a screwdriver. If the pre-born baby feels pain, then I would say abortion is torture and should be illegal as you say.

The only reason you have a gold standard is for when you observe the government counterfeiting the value of YOUR countries "Paper Money" into oblivion, you turn in the "paper" for the gold. People have a perception that paper has value, sure it does when the government is sane, when they're insane you need to take care of the value of 'YOUR LIFE'S SAVINGS, otherwise you don't get to eat.

Silver more than gold has "industrial" value, investor value and medical value.
My friend who lived through WW2 in Holland made this observation, those who had gold got to eat. His father traded a gold watch to a farmer for 100 pds of peas. It saved their lives. Gold and silver is just a way of saving value, paper money as we see doesn't do that.
You can't eat paper either, but it can keep you warm if your're cold by burning it. Gold and Silver is money, paper is paper.

I know gold & silver aren't as common as rocks, or paper, so yes, that makes sense. Still though...wouldnt the people who horde the paper now end up hording gold even BEFORE paper failed?
I think if paper failed, everyone would frantically search for gold, only to find out the Fed has it all.

Gold and Silver is perfect "money" because its rare, and useful. Siver more so than gold. In 1933 the US government confiscated "We the people's gold" to gain confidence into the US dollar again. If you didn't turn in your gold you got 10 years in the can. The US dollar is going to take a huge value hit, do you buy goods , gold, silver now or wait until that disaster happens. The Patriot Act has gold confiscation in it again, the g-idiots are out to slaughter the sheep.

Well, you explain a lot of things well. I think my fundamental disagreement, is I think common arrogance, greed, and human error in the private sector is the real threat, and cause of a lot of our financial problems.
We don't like to regulate the private sector, because that's "big government" but then what happens is, big BUSINESS runs wild. It's a free-for-all of greed, deceptive selling and trading...it's a mess, and everyone seems to overlook that factor.
